Incredibly Detailed Model Railroad Diorama of a British Railway Diesel Depot in O Scale (O Gauge)

- When you think of O scale or O gauge in rail transport modeling or model railroading, you inevitably associate this 1/45 scale with very large model railway layouts. But Mike Bisset and John Donaldson have built a detailed model train layout on an area of 18 x 3 feet (5.4 x 0.9 meter) only. They have dedicated their diorama of the British Railways to the days of the Sixties when many steam sheds become overrun by the influx of new diesel locomotives.
In the 1960's the British Railway administration soon discovered, that rundown dirty, smokey steam sheds were not the ideal environment for the new generation of motive power. So, before the construction of new purpose built diesel depots, many former steam sheds and workshops were hastily converted to provide basic servicing and fuelling facilities for the diesel locos. The model railway layout called “Ladeside Diesel Depot” is typical of such conversions. It is based on the former steam shed at Ardrossan, a town on the North Ayrshire coast in southwestern Scotland.
The model railroad layout is DCC wired. The locomotives that can be seen in Pilentum’s video, reflect the variety of classes which regularly used the Nith Valley railway line from Glasgow to Carlisle, through Kilmarnock. For added viewing and operational interest, the model train diorama also features a railway related engineering works with a warehouse and loading bay. At exhibitions “Ladeside Diesel Depot” has a fiddle yard at each end through which steam locomotives and diesel locomotives can enter and leave the miniature world.

I love the stills and perfectly matching music the most in your videos. Must be a lot of fun to search for all the hidden gems 😊
Liked the fox detail. There were several that lived at our old depot, they ate the scraps that got swept from the passenger trains by the cleaners and ate pigeons and rabbits that got hit by the trains. Also when driving along most of our passenger routes, you would either see dead pigeons on the track and say to foxy, "Grub up down the line", but it worked both ways, as if saw dead fox in the four foot or cess, would say to magpies and crows, "Buffet has been served up the line".
This is one of the best Model Railroads that I have seen. The painting of ever single item is what makes it look so real. Thanks for sharing this with us!!
Many thanks for an excellent layout. I used to work in a model shop in Colchester, Essex. I was head of the model railways department. "If you are short of space, choose O Gauge". I'm now retired and living in Spain. Spain has a high speed railway to Madrid. It cost over 8.1 Billion pounds. Railway are not dead in Europe!
At the beginning that's actually a Class 37 sound whereas the model is a Class 47.
It's also a class 37 that's working considerably harder than the class 47 that's shown.
Some nerds would not be happy in Heaven.
@@Klemheist-vf1hx Why edit in sound if it's not even the right sound? Class 37s have a very distinctive sound and, if you recognise that sound, watching the start of the video is like watching a video of Rishi Sunak overdubbed with Winston Churchill's voice, because that's what British Prime Ministers sound like, right
@@Klemheist-vf1hx Not even remotely a nerd, just get the sound right to match the loco rather than look like an amateur when it comes to UK traction.
@@sapphirejunction8993 Thank you for making my point.
Such a lovely edit. The mixture of sound from the movements and ambient music is a great combo. One of your best I’d say. Thank you 😊
Best model locos and layout 've ever seen. Now an 'O' gauge fan.
So relaxing
Well done! 👍👍
Excellent filming as always. Thanks, Ronn
Very soothing to watch.
The details are amazing.
A track with very nicely processed details. Great ! 👌
Awesome.
Thank you!
Love it. You know what would enhance it even more? Shadows. I don’t know how you’d do it, but it would be fun finding out.
Very interesting and realistic!🚅👏👍
Nice video, nice layout😊
Being Britain it's a Railway !
Show 👏👏👏👏👏Curitiba 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Great music.
Yeah... what is it?
Pity about the 47 ehich is acc ompanied with 37 or 25 audio.
Derelict signal box...and the oxy tanks against the wall. nice touches indeed. subtle but oh so effective...
