    What would be really good for these batteries instead of giving us percentages is remaining time (at the current power level). That's all we really care about, an LED light is useful, a percentage is useful, but in our minds we're all just trying to estimate how much time we have left. It doesn't sound like the hardest thing for a battery to calculate, its fine being an estimate and not spot on accurate.

      @@SePark Haven't really done tests but the power pack that comes with the X100 is 26000 mAh so theoretically, a 20000 mAh powerbank will do 76% of whatever time the power pack can do. Haven't really thought about mounting. I just have a really long USB-C cable and put my powerbank on the ground.

    • @SePark
      @SePark  Pƙed rokem

      @@bsv_za thanks for sharing that info. When I did the official test, the included X100 battery lasted 30 min at full power and 1 hr and 46 min at 30% power. • @bsv_za
      @bsv_za Pƙed rokem +2

      @@SePark Sure. I suppose there are pros and cons to both solutions. For the price of your V-Mount battery, I can buy almost 7 of my powerbanks. That's a combined 518 wH. Pros: I can run at full brightness for a reasonable amount of time. Cons: the inconvenience of managing that many powerbanks whereas you'd need fewer of the V-Mounts to achieve the same wH's.

    I watched your video, and you've made me reconsider my decision to purchase an additional Molus x100 battery. So I purchased the SmallRig VB99 battery and connected it to the Molus x100 light using a USB-C cable. The newly purchased battery was charged at 51%, and the Molus was delivering a maximum power of 18W, which is 19% of its potential. Why is this the case? Do I need to buy a D-TAP to USB cable to get 100% power? Please let me know. Thank you!

    • @RonaldLadao
      @RonaldLadao Pƙed 11 měsĂci +2

      Check the USB-C cable. some are rated differently. I want to assume your cable is maxed out / only made for to go at 20watts, therefore. You're only going at 20% of what the Molus x100 can do. The SmallRig batteries when connected to a USB-C cable that is rated at 100w. Can only go at 65%. Because of how it's designed.
      I'm about to make another comment on this page about what I learned.
      I recenlty bought the Anker 737 Power Bank (PowerCore 24K), 24,000mAh 3-Port Portable Charger with 140W Output when it was on sale for $100. I do have to say.. DAMN!!! this probably puts the SmallRig v-mount battery into shame. I just did two test runs with that battery with my x100 at 100% / 100watts. That battery can go on for 45minutes. Yet on my first run, the battery glitched on me at the 16 minute mark, saying low voltage??? wtf. But I still got it to run 45minutes straight at 100% power with the Anker 737 Power Bank (PowerCore 24K), 24,000mAh 3-Port Portable Charger with 140W Output.

    Thanks for the security tip.. almost bought a random cheap 100w thing.. what other batteries did you consider?
    Apart from the low battery life my main issue with the X100 is the poor Bowens adapter. It feels cheap, and non-sturdy and the knobs are all poorly designed. and lastly not all of my standard Bowens modifiers will actually fit, its like they designed it too tight.

    • @SePark
      @SePark  Pƙed rokem +1

      Thanks for watching and the comment. I considered Anker 737 but I really wanted the secure mounting mechanism. Like you described, you don’t want any fuss when setting up lights fast. I haven’t had any bowens mount not fitting on my X100 adapter but I know what you mean by the knobs. Compared to the weight that gets distributed and torque required, it’s too small. Hoping Zhiyun expands on more light accessories for the X100. I’ll provide some feedback to them. Thanks!

    Se: Another useful video, thank you. Have you had any problems with the 100 watt power brick you bought for this light and you showed in a previous video? I ask because I bought that setup and have only used it once (with no problems) but I know you use the stuff more than I do. Also, do you know of a more compact AC setup for the Zhiyun 100 watt Fiveray wand light? I wish they made that with detachable batteries, but that AC adapter they include is huge and unwieldy. Wondering if you have an alternative for that light? Thanks!

    • @SePark
      @SePark  Pƙed rokem +1

      Hi Bob, thanks for the comment. I have been using the 100 Watt version of the Tecknet USB-C AC power supply for awhile now. When I record these CZcams videos, that’s what’s powering my lights. Believe it or not I do multiple takes and takes hours 😅 Power brick is still working and going. Although I rarely use it at 100% power, I did test it for 2 hr straight. One thing to note now that it’s summer, I’m noticing that the power supply does run very warm at 100% power. It’s expected but I would not leave it unattended at full power. This power supply can also charge the Fiveray stick lights. I despise large power supplies with equipment that’s supposed to be portable 😁
