In my opinion, the 1993 Oilers are the most fascinating team in NFL history. Turbulence and controversy on and off the field. You had “babygate” with David Williams being fined six figures by Bud Adams for missing a game due to the birth of his daughter, Buddy Ryan punching Kevin Gilbride, the Jeff Alm tragedy, rumors of gay teammates (not a big deal nowadays but lots of people were less tolerant of that kind of thing back in the early 90s, especially in Texas), all those outside issues could have led to a disastrous season, as they started 1-4 but then caught fire, winning 11 straight and were Super Bowl favorites. It just showed how immensely talented that roster was. If they didn’t have so many other distractions, they would have at least got to the Super Bowl.
I remember this game was blacked out in the Buffalo area. At the time I was attending UB. I watched it with a bunch of friends in the student center where they had it on satellite TV.
Yeah I remember thinking we was going to have an all Texas Super Bowl Houston versus Dallas because the Oilers looked almost unbeatable by the end of the year
Ivory Smith The Christian God is the True God and I am going to prove it right now: God has a Law called the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20). These Laws include do not lie, do not steal, don’t put others gods before Him (Exodus 20) Have you ever broken any of these Laws? Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever lusted after someone? If we really went over God’s Laws in the Bible, every single one of them, it can really expose how much of a sinner we truly are and because we have all committed these acts our punishment is Hell because God’s standard is perfection. Our good works cannot get us into Heaven. That’s like you steal a soda from the store but you tell the judge, “hey judge I give to the orphanage, I do community service.” The judge will not care about what you did. You stole something that was not yours so therefore the Judge is going to find you guilty. God is the same way. But, this Judge is a loving Judge who does not want to sentence you for your crimes. He sent His Son Jesus Christ to come and take the punishment for your sins and if you Repent of your sins and accept jesus Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior then you will be saved from the sentence. Jesus loves you and is not willing that any should perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16) God bless
The Oilers would win their next 11 games after this debacle. This game also ended up being the tiebreaker between the Bills and Oilers for home field throughout the playoffs. The Oilers had a 13-7 lead over the Chiefs in the playoffs before they must’ve realized they had to play in Buffalo the following week if they advanced. The Oilers ended up collapsing and losing to the Chiefs.
I wish this team could’ve gotten along more. They had plenty of talent. Buddy Ryan’s defense finally started clicking later in the year. Was a shame watching them self destruct
Buddy Ryan was a horses ass. He literally divided his team down the middle, and that lack of solidarity made them an easy team to beat in the playoffs. Imagine a man so egotistical that he puts his own personality ahead of winning a championship. A disgrace to the game if you ask me. He is basically to blame for ending the Houston Oilers because if they win that playoff home game the city probably gives him a new stadium.
Houston wouldn't have beaten Buffalo even if they had held on against Montana and the Chiefs. They were psyched out. But it is a testament to just how talented that team was that they bounced back from this beatdown to win 11 straight games.
I was at this game, though I was only able to stay for the first half (had school the next day). It was my first Monday Night Game that I ever attended. What I remember most about this game was how loud it got when Kelly and Beebe connected on that TD after Bennett and Jeff Wright combined on that volleyball-type interception. It was an awesome game to be at. Thanks for the upload Jean-Paul
What an idiot number 52 was after Tasker pretty much set up the perfect placement of the punted ball at the one. What was that guy thinking? He should have just touched the ball. WTF?
What I liked about the Bills' 90's uniforms was that that buffalo logo was SO BIG. It pretty much took up the entire side of the helmet, and I thought that was really cool.
After this game, the Oilers began a great winning streak.
Warren Moon sucks

More Houston turnovers than your favorite bakery

Weird that it didn’t sell out.
Wow the Oilers stunk at this point. Their 11 straight wins to end the season really caused me to forget all that.
The last game the oilers lost before that incredible winning streak.

Wow what an upload!!! Not often you get off-air footage included with a game upload!
Thanks Trainking922. My whole family thought our dad was crazy for taping these games in the 90's.

So many HOF players in this game.
Fun commentary with Al's rants about the media etc., and the off camera bits as well. Fun stuff, much nostalgia.
I only clicked on this because it looked like Carwell Gardner and there is a hope the tackle that he did with the scissor leg lock is part of it
Thanks for putting these great games up!!! Too bad they didn't play the Rams when they werew good....

The Oilers won the AFC Central back in 1993 with a 12-4 record
This was the 93 season. They were 1-4 after this loss, then won the next 11 games in a row.
I'm a Bills fan but the Oilers had some pretty damn good teams back then
Rematch of the AFC Wildcard Playoff game
Current Bills need a RB like Thurman Thomas, and DE like Bruce Smith....then look out! Nice block in the back on Bruce at 1:57:37. Not called.
Great game for the Bills 👍
awesome upload:) do you have the bills vs redskins 1993 mnf? or the 1990 mnf between bills vs jets?

This game was blacked out on WKBW, WOKR and WJET

BEEBE BURNS DMAN!
The Bills to this day have the best looking uniforms but if those Oiler unis were still around they would be...imo.
