- Continuing the Syntakt spree... How to turn 3 tracks of SY RAW Machine into a nice Kick+Snare+Hats+Bass kit, leaving 9 tracks of Syntakt for whatever else you can dream up! The SY RAW Machine is an all analog 2 oscillator + noise synth inside the Syntakt that gives you a lot of what you need to build all kinds of classic and new tones from sound design.

The bass tone in this is very much an ACID style bass... maybe not exactly a 303 clone but has good character similar to this. With a little more work it could be pretty spot-on 303. The first half of this video explores what I have already built prior, then the second half does it all From Scratch as an educational tool for you. the From Scratch version is not exactly the same as the first half but gives you the tools you need to get in the zone.

good discussion! do you miss using A4, now that RAW arrived?
Thank you! That's making me think back to the features of A4... so A4 has a bigger octave / pitch range and 2 filters so that is useful. If you play thru RAW or DUAL VCO for that matter you are going to notice it tops out at a certain point (5 octaves?? I'm not sure) but it seems to be enough for what I'd need it for - which is bassy-er parts. Then if I need higher parts I have 8 tracks of digital synths for leads, drums, etc. I worry a bit that the pitch stability of the RAW as it ages or gets farther from calibration may become an issue...but so far it seems very stable. A4 because its DCO based would probably be more stable so it could be a good one to get again eventually - maybe in a MKII. Right now though, I'm not wanting to get more gear and Syntakt is really satisfying this area with lots of creative synth options and both analog and digital flavors.
I don't know man... a machine that wants to be many things, which usually ends up being none of them. That's what I feel about these elektron units.

I’ve been struggling to get usable snares from my Syntakt, so I’m really glad I found your video. I would definitely like to download some of your presets/ patterns as these are the aesthetics I’ve been trying to create. Thank you for uploading.
