Looks like they did a pretty good job. We're really just getting into the prime season for laying asphalt. Weather will definitely screw you over, can't do it when it's not warm enough. You need it to already be hot as hell and then the heat of the asphalt on top of that pushing the temp up another 20 degrees or so.

Great looking driveway and property Jeff! I think the ranch house is the way to go. No stairs to deal with later on down the road when one is up in age. We desperately need to have the driveway redone. It is a steady incline up to the road and is coming apart. I fire chunks of asphalt with my snow blower. Hopefully this fall it will get done. About 10 years ago, I bought my grandparents property from their estate. We had split up the house and the garage and I bought the back portion with the garage. Part of the deal was that the contractor that bought the house who is going to renovate it and sell it, (and did a terrible job at doing it) would do the work on the garage. To say he was a nitwit is an understatement. He never read the contract that I wrote and when it came time to put in the driveway he said “What driveway?” when I showed him the contract and told him he was responsible for putting in the driveway based on both the contract and city regulations. He now had to put in an 8 inch thick concrete driveway that was over 20 feet wide and 75 feet long. Needless to say, he took a bath because he was dimwitted and didn’t read the contract at that time. It was probably over $15,000 in concrete. The attorney that was on our side asked me “What do you do for a living?” I then told him, “One of the things I do is write contracts for a living, so this one was no problem when I wrote it”. The lawyer said, “You write them better than some lawyers do.” LOL. My project turned out OK only because I was there every day and documenting anything that wasn't done correctly or as per the contract. Enjoy the space and party. From your accent, it sounds like you're in PA.
