      Not every buyer needs adaptive cruise control unless you drive long distances regularly or lots of non-urban driving. Think New York/london/Beijing anywhere that traffic congestion is the norm. For suburban US drivers where regular cruise control is as common as aircon and highway driving is as common sticking to the 65mph speed limit, I 👍 agree

    • @michalklucz6907
      @michalklucz6907 Před 3 lety +1

      @@stephendoherty8291 I agree to disagree. I am still driving the old car with classic cruise control, but every time I get a rental company car (because of the insurance laws in the UK) I am amazed by the ACC. why I find it important? So first of all, you are correct. it's for the long-distance motorway trips (eeehhhmm... MB E class diesel anyone? ;) ) but for me it's just a part of safety systems, yes, you have an emergency braking system, but then if you have good brakes, but the guy behind you, drives 12yo car... you will get a hit anyway, but if thanks to ACC you will slow down earlier, in a more gentle way, you both may get a chance to brake.

    Hi Bob.Try and get Mercedes to give you a drive of the E400d when its released.Its an animal of a car. Its now the only 6 Cylinder model in the E Class range.
    One point i want to make and maybe you have covered it in other car reviews. Im sick of car Companies especially Mercedes and BMW calling a car model lets say the new E300 which is about 245bhp but it makes a person think that it has a 3 litre engine when in fact its a 2 litre its the same as the BMW 330i which is a 2 litre again.
    One more figure to finish with Bob to get adapative cruise control fitted to a BMW 5 Series costs wait for it €7000.Thats because it only comes as part of the Tech plus pack. To me personally its the best safety feature any car can have after the seat belt. Nearly all VWs have it fitted as standard any car ive had since 2013 has it fitted. It brillant to have in any auto.Yes the E400d is a 3 litre engine. 😂

    Bob, on the new BMW PHEVs, there's an option in the menu that allows you set the 'Battery Level' level so to speak. Meaning, if you set the 'battery level' level to 90% (or whatever), it will maintain that level when you enter that mode. Meaning, if your battery is depleted and you enter that mode, it'll charge the battery back to that 90%. FWIW, I had a 2017 330e and it was an on or off setting. My new 202 330e caught me out like the Merc did you before I figured it out So perhaps it's the same in the Merc.

So you should really be taking supplements, especially towards late winter/spring when your vitamin-D stores(it is stored in your fatty tissue) are getting depleted.

    A Diesel PHEV is sort of counter productive isn't it? Yes it's much more economical to use and I have always preferred it to Petrol but in this current climate of trying to protect the air quality perhaps the E Class ought to have been made to be used this a Petrol engine.

      I don't agree. Everything depends on the price that you have to pay extra for a diesel, but.. there is always a but. I have two types of trips. Tesco runs or commute to work, or a gym, all three below 20 miles total. And then, during the weekend I want to go on a trip. like 200 miles per leg. and suddenly diesel PHEV is a perfect solution, because I got EV Mon-Fri and diesel during the weekend. the only question, do I really want to pay for this diesel economy for this weekend trips

    Good review. Thanks, as a former merc driver, glad I'm not tempted by a 'diesel' PHEV that doesn't have adaptive cruise control. PHEVs seem even worse for climate change than ordinary efficient ICEs. Folks don't plug them in so fuel MPG is real world is awful. Folks get fed up plugging in twice a day, too much hassle, so after an initial period of enthusiasm and novelty which quickly wears off they end up just driving on liquid juice. You park up in the wind and rain at the office, are you really going to get a cable out of the boot and plug in? When leaving in your nice suit do you really want to pick up a dirty wet cable off the ground, coil it up and put it back in the boot? Good piece in IT yesterday on this.
