Here is the AMAZING thing about the Beastie Boys, if they did a show with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins it would totally make sense, but if they a show the next week with Tribe and De La it would totally makes sense as well. They were the Bridge that connected both scenes in the 90’s.

They kind of did 50% of that in lollapalooza '94. They played with Tribe and Smashing Pumpkins. That was the year Nirvana was supposed to headline. Fortunately, I went to that one in the Gorge in George, Washington. It was awesome

Not only is it my favorite Beastie Boys album, it's in my top 5 of all time. It was FAR ahead of it's time and I applaud the Beasties for trying something completely different from the album that put them on the map and was the most profitable. This is a band that NEVER sold out and always stayed true to the artistic side of hip hop. Legends to another level. Too bad the good lord took MCA away from us too soon. These guys would still be doing their thing. Not with Adam though. They respect him too much.

Umm not underrated at all. Everyone from old school hip hop heads to ahem "alternative rock hipster" types rated that album highly from a few years after it came out, to this day. They even played the videos from it to death on late night TV music video shows here in Australia for years after. All the "cool" music mags had retro write-ups on it too in later years, labelling it a classic.

Well, with all of the ease of sampling technology today, it most certainly can be accomplished once again. However, the fees associated with releasing anything with the amount of samples that those albums had wouldn't be worth it. I think Paul's Boutique had something like 1000 samples used in it. That's INSANE!!! Listen to The Avalanches stuff though. Those guys sample a tone of stuff in an extremely creative way. I'm a producer and I sample a bunch as well. I can't even think about releasing some of my tracks because of the heavy sample usage, but it's fun for me and my friends to listen to it.

As a punk rock kid who also loves hip hop, Beastie Boys are perfect! I love how they never shy away from their punk roots and tie it in with the direction they went. Both are from the streets, from the youth, anti establishment, and highly communal. There's so many ties and I love how they've always been and continue to be a bridge between the two!

I can never get enough of the Beastie Boys ! I can go back and listen to a ton of their music through out the decades and it never gets old , timeless at that ! They paved a solid path for other artists and we're the first to get struck with a law suit for sampling beats which blew up the DJ scene to the next level of appreciating old lick's to create your own . Inspiring to say the least . Pauls Boutique was groundbreaking and one of my favorites to this day in any genre of music . R.I.P. MCA ! Legendary punk groups The Clash & (NYC natives) Blondie were right there when rap was taking off in New York. The Clash released their proto-rap track, Magnificent Seven in 1980, and Blondie released the single, Rapture, which name checks Fab 5 Freddy and Grandmaster Flash, in the same year, and those songs helped propel the genre to new audiences and into the mainstream. Malcolm McLaren, manager of the UK punk group The Sex Pistols recorded and released the album, Duck Rock, in 1982/3 which included the historically important and seminal Hip Hop track, Buffalo Gals, the music video of which featured NYC Breakdance legends, Rocksteady Crew.

I've seen other interviews where they are asked about ever performing live. Mike seems to at least be interested, Adam doesn't want any of that. This time Adam kinda puts it on Mike, and Mike looks at him like you M -effer I've tied and you never wanted. We'll see where it ends up. I would definitely like to see them perform before they and I get too damm old!!!!

If they do, it would be as the Beastie Boys. They have officially said the Beastie Boys passed on when MCA passed on. Don't blame them one bit because how can they be the Beastie Boys without MCA? Perhaps, just perhaps they will come up with an album of new material as something completely different, that doesn't even sound like the Beastie Boys, but these guys deserve to hang them up and ride into the sunset with the catalog of great songs they've left behind. Definitely would love one more album and tour though. That would be insane!

I've loved rap music , and the whole Hip Hop culture since I was around 11 or 12 years old, I'm 53 now , and my musical tastes are varied , my first love was Elvis Presley, and the Beatles, Hendrix etc , And for me the Beastie Boys are Hip Hop's Beatles , I mean in the same way as they evolved and embraced different sounds and how much they changed over the years , that's just my opinion! I remember going to see them at Wembley for their intergalactic tour , and it was incredible , they're just so talented and diverse , I would love to see more rap groups embrace different sounds and be unafraid to express themselves musically.

I've been a huge Beasties fan since License to Ill (when I was in 8th grade) and bought all their albums on the release date, was on their message board in the mid 90's, read every article, watched every interview, bought every book... and until this interview I NEVE KNEW that they recorded Ill Communication BEFORE Paul's Boutique and released it later. That just blew my mind. I know they rented a mansion in LA and made Paul's Boutique over many months, with Keyboard Money Mark, but had zero knowledge that Ill Communication was on the shelf already recorded. That's why I love these interviews.
