  • Of course we all know that Sora will continue to be the protagonist to go against the Master of Masters in this upcoming saga...but what exactly is the reason as to why it HAS to be Sora? Let us take a deep dive to the heart of the matter

    Of course you pulled on my heartstrings with that ending. It's Kingdom Hearts. This series is more emotional than most. Kingdom Hearts is laying on a beach looking up at a clear blue sky, just being in the moment. It is turning your brain off and letting yourself just *feel*. It's a Lazy Afternoon with your best friends lounging around enjoying salty and sweet ice cream. It's listening to the waves while getting lost in memories.
    There's a reason why there are so many stories of people saying Kingdom Hearts got them through very difficult times. Few games have managed to tap into that deeply emotional core of humanity like this series can. Go to a beach, find a comfy seat, and look off into the horizon while Dearly Beloved plays and see how long it takes you to find your way back to reality.

      @@andrewbidwell6421 I guess the reason why Sora is considered one of the 'weakest' characters in the series, is likely because he's just a kid from Destiny Islands, but that being said, he does have one of the strongest, maybe even the strongest, heart out of everyone, after all, the plot basically went sailing quickly with Sora is using his powers, Sora may not seem much, but he sure has the most potential out of everyone.

    I think Nomura intends there fate to be similar of that of the game “Infamous” weres the main villain is actually the main character from the far future, an that the MoM is actually preparing Sora for an even *Greater* threat which is obviously the Seven darknesses. An the MoM already lived through the experiences an lost every timeline, which is why he made all these events happened to Sora to make sure he doesn’t make the same mistakes an able to succeed against the darknesses in the end. Also in the secret ending the chess game heavily implied Sora going up against all seven dark pieces by himself. So I think everything that happened now is just one big test for Sora by the MoM.
    As well as trying to figure out if Soras way is the right way or not, but definitely to prepare him to face off against the seven darknesses.

    I think The Master of Masters scripted this entire process to create Riku and Sora, and He knows everything to happen because he performed forbidden action himself. He created a giant time loop around the entire Worldline of Kingdom Hearts so far and then inserts himself whenever and wherever he needs to be to get the outcome he desires.
    Also, Sora got the Keyblade because Riku's Light, (his Heart) gave Sora the Keyblade. Riku wanted Sora to come with him and He "opened his Heart" to Sora. And Sora touched Riku's Light, and therefore, his Keyblade.
    Also, Riku's Light is the Gate to the Final World. (as see in the the Intro of Kh1 when compared with The Light in the Wave in the tutorial of KH3 and the final World logo). Riku's Light is the way Sora saved everyone.

      I agree with the Master of masters stuff but....when it comes to Sora an Riku no. Sora inherited the keyblade because the one who was suppose to Riku fell into darkness, it went to Sora because Vens heart was within Sora an when Riku chose darkness the keyblade went to the next best thing around it which was Sora.

      @@Fragmentsinfractals488 Yeah no, MoM did not plan out this whole thing because his end goal of his plan was intended to seal off the pure darkness in 7 vessels, but because of the Player being there(not a Dandelion, nor a Union Leader...hmmm sounds like an *Anomaly* or *Irregularity?* ) and sealing the 6 other pure darkness in Wreck it Ralph's world permanently, the plan was thrown for a loop. Could bequeathment be a blending of hearts, sharing the keyblade master's own strength of heart with their apprentice? Just like how Sora's heart contained a complete copy of Tron's heart, a heart that he transplanted into Rinzler, returning him to Tron... that scene, could it have held the same essence as a bequeathment? To be fair, I feel Kairi falls under this same boat as well. She was bequeathed a keyblade by accident. She shouldnt be there either, yet these two working together is what defeated Xehanort.
    (In Remind I believe Xehanort there is the physical body, while Sora, Donald, and Goofy fight the heart/spirit of Xehanort inside.)
    Now there is one other thing that I do sometimes wonder about. Donald and Goofy have one aspect about their story that is intriguing. They are like Sora, technically dont belong in this fight, especially since they dont have keyblades. There is something more to that deep down that the writers seem to be building in 3 subtlely. It's just a simple observation, though.

      Keyblades are a conduit through which strong hearts may perform great deeds. But they aren't a requirement. A strong heart can still act upon the worlds even without a keyblade. It might be harder, and there may be things it can't do, but the tool does not make the man or his deeds. The man does that himself.
      Donald and Goofy stood against Xehanort and Kingdom Hearts itself even when Sora faltered, and by bolstering him with their own strength Sora achieved a power greater than even that of the first key.

    Didn’t see it mentioned in the video so I thought I would mention this. Sora has been able to wield a keyblade since he was young (bbs age), specifically ventus’ keyblade due to Ven being in Sora’s heart.
    Theory: The keyblade saw Ven’s heart and tried to make him wield his key, and then having him wield itself since he would wield his own. This of course causing Sora to wield it. So I believe that the kingdom key was actually connected to Ven’s heart being his, until that scene in hollow bastion where the key saw how strong Sora’s heart was and moved to his heart since it got no response from Ven and Riku was still possessed by the darkness. Make him the keyblade’s chosen and allowing him to wield it and Ven’s witch is why Sora can wield two in kh2.

In order for the inheritance ritual to work you need a master or a wielder with similar power to one, to basically give you the chance to wield as well. But how far back this can go? There has to be a first master to pass the mark, someone who didn't got it by the traditional mean, someone who was directly chosen by the key itself, the only candidate is the very man who claims to be from the time before keywielders even were. To me it seems that The M.O.M was the very first chosen one and all marks come from him, sora being the only instance of this happening

    What sora says at the end of KH3 goes against what every character from every other anime and video games says and proves in their respective stories. That with enough belief and power one can overcome and write their own destiny. This really confused me because he literally went back in time to change destiny yet says destiny should not be changed it should be accepted. What is bro talking about?

      No. Nomura had already confirmed that that had nothing to do with Sora being able to wield a Keyblade. That had more to do with Roxas's appearance looking like Ven and Vanitas looking like Sora because that connection gave a face to the counterparts.
      Sora, well and truly, became a keyblade wielder by complete accident. It was never supposed to happen.

    Sadly I have to disagree again. First of all I'm not really convinced that Ava changed anything but I don't want to discuss this. What I really want to discuss is that you claim that Sora changes the future the entire time. Because it is obvious that this is not the case. In fact he does everything the master has planed for him? How do I know? Simple...."on the fated land a war will break out. Light will expire and darkness prevail." The quote is maybe not perfect right now sorry but it is essentially what is written on the last page. The fated land is obviously the Keyblade Graveyard since it is the place where Kingdom Hearts resides. And the war outbreaking is happening in KH3. KH1, CoM and KH2 neither are on the Keyblade Graveyard nor is there a war breaking out. You could maybe say Birth by sleep somehow fits but the light does not expire. So if he would have changed the history then the Book would have ended earlier...in KH1 at least. Which is not gonna happen. And no he not even changed the actual ending of the book since the book just ends...but the Master knows it is not the end. And how do I know this? He says it to Ira. "Isn't it our duty as Keyblade wielders to prevent this war from taking place?" "Nah, not possible." "Wha-?" "You really think you can change the future?" "Then...what do you want us to do?" "We have to focus on *what comes after*" ...you see? He literally says there the ending where all light is dieing....is not the end. So he intentionally didn't wrote the book further. So in conclusion....no Sora does not change history...at all. But it is very much possible that the Master could not look farther in the future for some reason. Maybe he wanted that the outcome exactly happens like this. To fool darkness for example which read the book. This would also perfectly align with 'not dropping names and write it convoluted' which you also mentioned in this video.

  • @KewlImp
    @KewlImp Před 8 měsíci +1

    You forgot Terra with the masters. Xehanort named him master to further seduce him further into darkness. That said, here is the interesting thing about the Master of Masters, we don't know how strong he really is. We hear the Foretellers talk about how good he is, but WE never see it. They don't really say how they were trained with a keyblade. He could have taught basic forms and used the same kind of magic like Yen Sid to have them fight each other in another realm where they have more time. This is to say, he may be the strongest of heart and best magician.
    The keyblade being meant for Riku is canon, but it a huge retcon. The only person saying that in the first game in Maleficent, and she is far from trustworthy. Furthermore, when the keyblade
    shows up to Sora, in all versions of the game, there is no bending of light or show any indication it was meant for Riku. Even furthermore, can't be two keyblade masters, when we know that isn't true. Sora is confronted with the idea it was never meant for him with Riku's statement, "Let the keyblade choose." Again, canon, but retcon. Not to mention, bequeathing seems to match of the shape of the keyblade and we see how Riku's keyblade really looks like. (And if the keyblade can choose, at all, it was always going to Sora, but Nomura had to clarify.)
    So the Book of Prophecies isn't prescriptive, meaning it doesn't dictate the future. It's descriptive meaning it records what was seen. The Master of Masters may have seen something completely different and just wrote down the lie in the final passages knowing it further fuel the Foretellers into their actions.
    Side note: Loved the video. The whole 'not meant for Sora' is one of those big retcons that people just don't question so I always feel obliged to talk about it. Sorry if it was too much.

    • @gtothem1850
      @gtothem1850 Před 8 měsíci

      Actually not a retcon as this fact has been part of the canon and carried all the way through Dream Drop Distance, the mainline Kingdom Hearts game prior to 2.8 and by extension 3:
      "The boy chosen by the Keyblade" "It was yours, wasn't it? But you succumbed to Darkness you could not control, and your prize, The Keyblade, passed on to Sora"
      -Young Xehanort, Symphony of Sorcery
      "I know the Keyblade didn't choose me, but I don't care. I'm proud to be part of something bigger, the people it did choose."
      -Sora, The World That Never Was"

    • @KewlImp
      @KewlImp Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@gtothem1850 If you wanted to own me with something the ultimania would have been a better source. Let's be honest, Nomura did not plan that far ahead. The fact KH1 could have ended the series and still been amazing shows the story could have wrapped up there. However, he had to clarify in the Ultimania Maleficent was telling the truth and that is because the games were picked up the COM and KH2. So DDD is not a good example of me being wrong.
      The reason its a retcon is only one person told Riku he was the master of the keyblade and that was Maleficent. And she is not a trustworthy source of keyblade knowledge in the first game. Especially since she would have known about Mickey, the Wayfarer Trio and so forth. None of that is mentioned. Not even getting into the time travel. And IN CHARACTER, Maleficent would manipulate a young and impressionable boy to her advantage. She didn't care about Riku, she wanted a puppet with THE keyblade. Until the last scene with Mickey, its considered to be THE keyblade, not A keyblade.
      Let's talk about when Riku summoned the keyblade to his hand, which only happens on screen once. He weakens Sora's resolve/heart first by saying it wasn't meant for him, some told to him by Maleficent. So he challenges Sora for ownership with a heart full of confidence and the keyblade comes to him. It's very similar to MOM and Apprentice Xehanort. One with a much stronger heart summons a keyblade out of another user/master's hand. It's why when Sora comes back in Hollow Bastion front doors and feels strong again in his heart and the keyblade comes back on its own. So either Sora is now much stronger than Riku (he is much stronger) or the keyblade sentient and can choose its master when there is a conflict with equally strong hearts.
      It is a retcon, but it is canon. I attempt not to belabor the point, but most people who think about the series critically see it as a retcon. There is nothing in the first game that indicates time travel or even another keyblade (until the ending).

    • @gtothem1850
      @gtothem1850 Před 8 měsíci

      @@KewlImp I'll admit that I got a bit cocky with my response, however my intention wasn't much of owning you more so actually disprove this thought. Meanwhile, sure, Nomura never planned ahead these games and thaton itself doesn't mean that later depictions of these events shouldn't be taken as the factual progress of events even if they weren't what Nomura originally had in mind; Sure thing, Maleficent could be lying to Riku and maybe by weakening Sora's heart that's how he got to wield the Keyblade, but the events playing out like that wouldn't make sense because, even though we've seen users of Darkness wield a Keyblade with Riku and many other Union members in Union X Cross, Sora's key is specifically stated to be the Keyblade to bring world order back to the fading world being attacked by darkness, a Keyblade of light, this coming from the depiction of Mickey who's more than a relivable source than Maleficent;
      With that in mind is obvious why Sora's Keyblade didn't choose Riku as it wielder, because his heart succumbed by darkness and I'd dare say he was truly close to being Norted himself up to that point. This actually makes far more sense from a storytelling standpoint because if the reasoning for Sora's losing his key was as simple as him getting doubtful of his worth and desperate of trying to mend his friendship with Riku, then as how things are now emotionally for Sora anyone with a strong enough heart and understanding of magic, light and darkness would be able to take away his Keyblade from him at any moment just by proving having a stronger heart, regardless of wether they're a Keyblade Master or not, or if their morals are on the right stance, such as Riku up to that point;
      Yet we see in Kingdom Hearts 3 that the Keyblades actually choose to pick sides to help others long after their wielder has passed on, such as when Sora rode the Keyblades of the wielders from long ago; Sure, you could account this action to Ephemer bringing the spirits of these wielders to help Sora give his grandson the belt treatment, I have to put that to question since by this point ONLY Ephemer was naturally dead, whereas these other wielders were Dream Eaters living on the sleeping world until wakened for either resurrection or be able to pass on naturally.
      I think you're getting wrong what a retcon actually means. Retconning is taking certain events of its canon and pretending it never happened, whereas Nomura is not pretending it didn't happen but rather has changed its context within the canon. Could sound like retcon but the fact that event is still justified and also present within the canon, and has gone a long way to be a constant problematic for Sora which he has been able to overcome time and time again, doesn't mean it was retconned but rather that it was recontextualized; If you actually referred to it as such then yeah, your argument would have a base, but until we see that event never being brought up again, or see something like MoM stealing Sora's Keyblade because the rent has gone higher and he can't pay his taxes then is hard to believe something as simple as that was the factual context as to how easily Riku was able to take Sora's keyblade from him.

    • @KewlImp
      @KewlImp Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@gtothem1850 So, on a long enough scale, one could argue that Stan Lee always planned for their to be a literal spiderman god, but during the original run there was no presence of such a being. Now, Kwaku Anansi was the first spiderman and created everything about spiderman and across the spiderverse. While you could make an argument with the god of the gaps argument and say it wasn't ever said it did not exist, therefore it always could have existed. This is the core problem. Suddenly introducing a brand new element doesn't mean it was always planned or always existed, and that is a retcon. A change to the canon.
      Their morals don't matter. When the keyblade was coming to someone who was bequeathed a keyblade, Kingdom Key chose a different wielder. However, in KH1 this is never truly explained. Maleficent builds up Riku's faith in himself. Riku is filled with self confidence that Sora lacked at the moment. On side note, Riku was just as ignorant as Sora was about lightness and darkness at that moment, he wasn't taught their natures, only how to control the heartless and travel through the darkness. In fact, that moment Riku wretched the Kingdom Key from Sora is a powerful psychological moment for Sora. He has to find the confidence all over again. In KH2, before Bequeathing was ever a thought, at the end of the game, Sora tells Riku how jealous.envious he is was Riku and that plays back into the scene in Hollow Bastion. He always felt second to Riku so when Riku challenges him, of course he feels inferior.
      In the Keyblade Graveyard, that isn't fully defined yet. We don't entirely know what that was. We know Ephemer displayed similar powers of 'dead keyblades' that Xehanort and Venetas does. We don't know, even with Re:Mind, what happened there. It does seem to be a power of really powerful keyblade wielders.
      A retcon is a change or new piece of information that provides a different interpretation on previously described events. Like the god of all spiderpeople or who the keyblade belonged to and why they were able to take it form another person. You don't have to ignore the previous information, but provide a brand new interpretation, like Maleficent was being honest to Riku and being right.
      Not all retcons are bad, but Nomura is a discovery/pants writer. This isn't to say Nomura is a bad writer either. That means he has very few long term plans. This is clear in his writing and one of the reasons time travel had to be used to "clear up some information". What is not clear without the later games is everyone has been SEEN to only tell the truth except for Luxu about his identity. But in the first game, everything points to the direct power of heart when it comes to the keyblade, and we don't see when the keyblade arrives that is was meant for Riku. It is the canon and I don't argue that, but it is a retcon, a literal recontextualization aka new piece of information that provides a different perspective on a situation in a fiction.
      And I'm sorry as well about being defensive. I've had one or two big content creators jump down my throat about this with similar arguments. I apologize.

Ridiculous hahah. ...anyway if he is a threat, it has nothing to do with skill or direct power, but will and utility plot power. His friends are his power and that's how he overcomes stuff, he has very little skill or power of his own. Sora is a boring plot device, unfortunately, but I love all the other characters they've made. I still don't think MoM is evil unless the greatest darkness takes him over...he has a backup plan, I think that's sora, the anomaly...and that's why he got riku's key and gained some plot powers...MoM made him to be "worthy" of the weakest but 3rd-most-plot-important keyblade...and they'll be friends before the end.
