- Is there an “olympics” for figure skaters who start later in life? Well kinda- and I’ll explain!
Welcome to my first competition vlog for the 2024 season! Competing again this year at the Empire State Winter Games which is a HUGE, I repeat HUGE competition held in Lake Placid, NY at the olympic center consisting of essentially all of the winter sports you would see in the actual Winter Olympics from Luge, Ski Jump, Biathlon, Figure Skating and many more.
Hope you guys enjoy this video- watch to find out what happens to me (lol in advance) but regardless I had so much fun with my friends who I went with as well as meeting new skaters at the competition. 2024 US Sectionals Vlog will be coming very shortly after this so stay tuned!

Cathyyyy I had SO SO SO much fun skating with you in Lake Placid ❤ You are a literal inspiration - I have no idea how you pulled out such an amazing performance while being sick as a dog. I can't wait to see you at the rink ❤❤❤

i'm so glad i found your channel, i'm graduating from college soon and going to be balancing figure skating with software engineering, i was worried I'm crazy for trying to balance skating with an intensive job but I really admire you for doing just that!! congrats on your medal and keep going!! :)
I'm so glad these videos can be of help! Despite what others may think- it is totally possible to do both and it is very admirable that you will be aiming to do that. I'm hoping to release some more videos soon around how to balance skating with a corporate job so hopefully that can be of help for your future journey! (:

It’s amazing how you pulled everything off when you were so sick, and the performance was still STUNNING! Also loving all the b-rolls. It really shows real “this is life” feeling behind the scenes of the dazzle of a not-even-2-minutes performance.

Congratulations on your gold medal Cathy! I am so proud of you! Thank you for this video! I appreciate you not only showing the beautiful moments of our competitions, but also the moments we have to push through to get to these moments ❤ I appreciate you showing your vulnerable side as balancing skating and work life can be really hard sometimes. Sometime we skate not under the best of circumstances, but we do it for the love for our sport and no matter how hard it was, we still feel so proud of ourselves that we got through it no matter the result. Thank you for being an AWESOME role model of hard work and perseverance and I wish you the best for the rest of your season ❤
Also would LOVE the figure skating “what’s in my competition suitcase video”! There are so many “what’s in my skating bag” videos out there including the one you did as well, but never have I seen one for what to bring to a figure skating competition. Packing for figure skating competitions give me second hand anxiety. With how much I compete, I’ll usually just keep all my skating competition stuff packed up, just so I don’t have the anxiety of having to repack it 😂

congrats Cathy!!!!!! When I over train before a competition I always mess up I'm so impressed with you and how you were able to push through and win gold. You fully deserve this!!!

Can you do a video explaining how to get into competing specifically getting to nationals as an adult figure skater? I don’t even know how to qualify lol
Hi Siena! Yes- that's a great idea! Will aim to work on something that can shed light to that process because I agree it is quite confusing! Stay tuned and hoping to put out something soon like a Q&A video to answer all these questions!

Do they allow spectators at events like this? I live on Long Island but would love to get to get to watch in person. I'm in the horse world and hear about Lake Placid all of the time but this is the first time I've gotten to see what the rink looks like!
@@Marissa_kathleen_ yes they do!! If I’m not mistaken, this competition is free of charge to spectators! So I see a bunch of people in the stands all the time!
