In this easy to follow video guide I cover pitching the Luxe Hexpeak v4a’s flysheet / tarp, installing the stock 1 person / three season inner and easy modifications that you can make in order to make the pitching process as easy as possible for you - while optimising the excellent performance of the tent too!
The luxe hexpeak v4a tent, pitched properly, is a very strong shelter with a tipi design suited to backpacking / bikepacking trips, mountain camping and is capable of withstanding some serious and challenging weather conditions (tested thus far in windy conditions reaching 50mph and constant, heavy rain). The key is nailing the pitch!
While it has a steep learning curve if you aren’t used to a tarp style or pyramid tent, with the right method and some practice you’ll nail it quickly, reducing your pitch times all the while! The Hexpeak is definitely worth the time and effort - for your patience you’ll be rewarded with a storm worthy shelter that sticks to the ground like a limpet on a rock and features an incredible amount of space for its weight.

I have a cool tip that I use.
When pegging out the original rectangle with the straps I use my multimat as a set square to make sure I have the corners at 90°
I find getting that right is the most important part of getting a good pitch with the sexy hexy 👍

Great video 👍 By far the best video on pitching the tent I've ever seen. I sold my tent and solo and double inner a few months ago. Couldn't really get to grips with the pitching and always felt it was a hassle and unhappy with the results. But you might have just tempted me to try again 😉

It IS awkward at first, but follow my process, practice and you'll nail it. Hi Scott. After a long delay (don't ask), and with one exception, I eventually managed to do all the modifications recommended by you and OMG it's made so much difference and for the better. Thanks very much indeed. The "exception" relates to the two front fixings for the inner. Instead of taking the 2 mm bungee cord to the intermediate side peg, I lengthened the bungees so that they now attach to the next peg in line of the fly. Obviously much longer but it seems to work well (at least for me). Cheers. Ken

I'm wondering if two extra lightweight pegs/stakes would be the answer - it's not too much of an issue though to be honest. :)

I love my HexPeak but I need more practice with it. I made a few mods too. I stitched a plastic hook to the inside of the sleeping compartment on which to hang a light if I wanted. I also made a second inside pocket out of an old drybag what was broken. I also got a hexagonal groundsheet, as I live in dusty Australia, and I painted a rectangle on that, along with a mark for my centre pole. I use half a dead tennis ball as my pole base. I am still not thrilled with my lines, but I think this video has convinced me I need to make a few more mods.. Thank you.

Watched all your videos on Hexpeak v4a and was sold. In fact, just received mine today. I live in Wales so used to wind and rain but unfortunately my beloved Hubba Hubba is not for our bad weather in the Brecon Beacons as I found out last Autumn. Hi Ali, that's excellent!! The hex performs an interesting dance as the wind hits the bottom and works its way up around the spire! As long as it's pegged out well it'll keep you safe - you still won't get much sleep though, haha!

Fantastic review and mods. I’ve considered a lot of tents for cycle touring and watched literally dozens of vids, with Luxe pyramid tents I think I’ve found the best options for space and security for the bike, possibly with the Minipeak II for the MTB, but this tent would definitely take the folded Brompton easily and have space for kit and cooking. Hi, thanks for watching and I'm glad you found it useful! The Hexpeak V4A has tonnes of room inside, even with the inner installed. The flysheet itself is super light at 700g and packs down very small - I'm currently looking into alternative inner solutions as there are lighter/more packable inners available from third parties (aliexpress). Potentially works out cheaper as well, so maybe something to consider before making a purchase 😀

I'm thinking about getting a third party 4 season inner (not sure why the company don't make one!?) but until then, I'll probably carry a bivvy just in case.
@@outlawedlandscapes I use a tascam dr 10L. I've always had good audio from it and it gives me a back up audio for when my camera decides to balls it up 😅 A 4 season inner would be class, I reckon they are missing out by not having one available. Thanks again, all the best 👍
Nice! Back in my Sound Tech days I used to have the DR 40-X, but I sold it many moons ago and as always, I now regret it, haha! I'll have to have a look into yours, I've got a cheap wireless set-up, but the audio is unusable due to the noise floor. The other option is the Rode effort. I do like the idea of backup audio though, as I could easily process that in Pro Tools then sync it up. Hmm :D
I really don't know why. I'd measured up the V4A in case the F6E inner would work, but it'd be very tight & the weight of it is crazy compared to the Lanshan/Asta ones!
@@outlawedlandscapes ah but but back then I bet you never thought you would be making videos like you do now. The video I am editing now for some reason had 6-8 clips with zero audio and one of those was a main part of the video. If I didn't have the Tascam I would have had no ending to the video. Dead handy to sync up too so it's a win win. I use a rode video micro as my on camera mic and found even when it should be silent there is a low hiss which I assume is caused by the pre amps in the camera and what you mean by the noise floor. I was considering the rode pro plus? I think that's what it's called but yeah, it is not a priority and for the money it will have to wait.

That's a nightmare! What camera are you using? My on-camera mic is the Rode Video Mic Go (started using it on this video as I recently upgraded from the gopro 7 to the 9 with the media mod) and I'm really happy with it, the smaller version would be handy though for wide angle stuff. Made the mistake of not just turning the mic around and using the media mod mic instead.. Nasty! I haven't used the pro plus, but if the Go is below it then I'd assume it sounds cracking!

Had mine out for about 8 summit camps (Scottish Highlands) and it's been very impressive. I have a geodesic tent for winter, but going to try using this to see how I go.
I still find the inner a faff, but given the pitch style, it's very manageable.
Had it in heavy rain and gusts around 45mph at 700m on Friday and there was zero concern, so that's reassuring.
It's been a life saver on the cold night for me and my hiking pal to chill with a beer and do some cooking.

That sounds brilliant, where abouts were you? I honestly can't believe how little coverage the Hexpeak's get given their stellar performance in bad weather! I've had folk that haven't believed me about camping in 50mph, so I suppose your account helps to prove that I'm not just making things up 😄
The inner is definitely a faff. Still working on finding a better solution (we'll see how Ray gets on!). But aye, amazing space for you and your friend to chill. All going well I'm heading out for a summit camp in Galloway very soon, regardless of the forecast 💪

Your video helped me loads. I have made very similar mods to yours, which has improved the tents structural integrity and ease of pitch, considerably.
I see Ray suffered condensation, but oddly I've never had that problem. I guess he had his quite low to the ground, so airflow was probably limited. Good to know in readiness for winter where it will be fly to the deck.

@@KramF10 Very nice :D I'm very happy to hear that. I saw a comment somewhere recently that basically said if you have to mod a tent, then it's not well made. Clearly that person has never tried a hexpeak in bad weather though!!
Aye, I was surprised by that too. My first thought though was that it was a low pitch - but that ground will have been fairly damp as well. The hexpeak tends to retain heat very well, so I wouldn't be surprised if the cause was a mixture of the warm air in the tent meeting the cool air of the lovely clear night with a low pitch. The only time I'll have mine close to the ground will be either in crazy winds (plenty ventilation) or in deep snow where condensation will actually just freeze.
I had a wee flight of fancy and looked into 'hot tenting' - imagine that on a subzero summit camp!? Well, I took one look at the weight of the wee stoves and the dream died immediately, hahaha!

Hi Laura, thanks for watching! I wanted to do a video that was to the point and included the things I wanted to hear when researching the issue for myself - the majority of the videos out there for the Hexpeak are hit or miss and I wanted to rectify that :)
Finally got my Hexpeak😅! Set up in garden now, succesfully sealed and pitched. Used the extra long tie outs, cut them and attached those to the auxiliary tie outs. Still wondering about the taps in the inner side of fly sheet. And the hooks on the tie outs from the inner. Some say to attach those to the o rings of the outer. I just hooked them to the pegs.....
Ah well....first pitch (too bad I can't show a picture here) and I'm very happy! Gotta test in out in 3 day hike in two weeks here in Netherlands with a local guide who organises noob-proof introducties to hiking😊👍
Really enjoyed that video. I am having a lot of fun in my Hexpeak. I have the zip mod as its awful in a morning trying to reach the zip before my bones have warmed up.. I tied (loosely) all my inner lines and always pitch in one now. Carabiners keep everything in place. I also bought long walking poles (up to 142) which also helps. You're so right about the tent - brilliant. Thanks for sharing. ⛺👍

Did you connect the inner to the fly with the inner tabs as well as the tie out points? What's the inner like for tension once pitched?
Sorry, forgot to add; What poles are you using? I've been finding it quite difficult to source anything higher than 135cm :o
@@outlawedlandscapes They are the Black Diamond ones. fold into three with a slide extension. sorry, cant remember their name.. l'll have a look when I get home. I keep the inner tight by raising/lowering the pole and shortening/lengthening the fly guys.. goes up in 5 minutes. :-)

Great tips got mine last week! like your Mods will use the cord and trim to 6 inch and see how it goes if not can try better cord we got snow on the ground in Labrador so looking forward in using it in early winter and spring got the floor coming to from Bob. Hi Dave, that's great, I'm sure you'll have many excellent nights in your Hexpeak 😁 Let me know how you get on with camping in the Canadian snow - I hope to get the chance to camp in it myself during the winter 👌I reckon the original inner would be capable in such weather as the flysheet/tarp itself creates it's own wee environment - especially with a low pitch. Very reassuring, but the inner is a bit heavy when compared to the likes of a 4 season 3F UL inner.

That was very clear Scott. I’ve been leaving some slack line on the pegs so that I can move the whole thing nearer or further from the ground once it’s up depending on the wind. The flick lock pole is essential for being able to adjust the height once it’s up to do this. Gordon
Hi Gordon, that's right, the 6" I mention is enough (for me) to have a high pitch and also allows for easy adjustment should I need to lower the height of the pole for wind / snow etc :) Thanks for watching!
@@outlawedlandscapes yep. I liked the wee knot cos trying to pull the cord when it’s tight up on the line loc isn’t easy. I haven’t used it in the snow but hoping I can. A mid should be great in snow.

@@outlawedlandscapes I’ve seen chris Townsend using his (golite 3, very similar) in the gorms in heavy snow. As you say, steep walls so it sheds.
Wow! I'll be sticking to smaller hills when I'm trying it out in the snow - the gorms are not to be trifled with! :D Looking forward to getting stuck in to some winter camping when time/£££ allows :)

Hullo! Aye, it's a fantastic bit of kit, when I was doing my research after my Lanshan proved to be less than ideal on Arran I thought 'surely all the reviews and comments can't be right' - they were. The hexpeak is brilliant! If you manage to get a Lanshan 4 season inner for it as well then you've got a bombproof 4 season tent that will take whatever you throw at it!
I got mine from Bob at Backpackinglight.co.uk (EXCELLENT service) - if you end up taking the plunge then mention my name, maybe I'll get some gear or even a commission someday, especially given the amount of folk that have said they've bought one!! xD

I have only been out with this Hexpeak and the double inner, never read the inner was a pitch first system when using the double inner. That night sucked 😂

Haha! xD Aye, I'll bet, it's a nightmare to begin with never mind that sort of nonsense! Honestly, they wee s-biners are cracking bits of kit (Nite Ize, available in most outdoor shops or on amazon). I'd recommend getting a couple of packs because they are super useful.
@@outlawedlandscapes I'll be grabbing some now. I already got those alpkit pegs as a gift so I'm one up there. Looking into picking up some large pegs like the Delta Style pegs I see Ray using, for the snow also. I will be trying out the method of cutting some 3mm line to length for the inner also. I found that the cord on this set up was just a little too long. Got confusing after a while 😂
Aye, the supplied cord is a bit naff tbh - though I believe they give you extra for the sake of creating guys.. :s The most important thing with the 3mm is that it grips like f**k as opposed to the 2mm cord which slips when wet or when temperatures change through the night.
How do you find the Alpkit ones? Happy with them? I keep hearing about the Delta's and they are very highly recommended, so I might have to give them a whirl soon. The world of pegs is an exciting and expensive one for what they are, haha!!

I was wondering about the extra loops midway on the inner and inner side if fly sheet.

The inner loops are for additional fixing points for the inner, just keeps the fabric nice and high under tension and allows it to be an all in one pitch. I don’t tend to use them though.

Thanks for the informative video needing a lightweight tent mainly for me but there is a trip hubby wants to do & my thoughts are leaning to hex peak are they big enough for 2 on a 5 night backpacking trip hopefully in Iceland. Needs to be light as I have to do the bulk of the carrying.
Hi Liz, I’m glad you found it useful! The Hexpeak will fit 2 + gear at the sides, but - you’ll need to consider a full sized inner (would recommend Aliexpress for this). The Lanshan 2 Pro (4 season) is worth looking at if you haven’t already as they have lots of room, are very lightweight and very easy to pitch - but I wouldn’t use these at higher altitudes!

Wow this tent is hard to perfect, watched your video at least ten times but I'm never quite happy with my efforts and that's in the garden. You make it look so bloody easy lol

@@outlawedlandscapes The fly never looks even and taught even though I make sure I have a good rectangle and pole at 138cm. The inner always seems a bit saggy too. Yours always looks pretty perfect. I'll get there hopefully mate and thank you for the reply 👍
Not a problem! Did you make sure to stake out the main points at equal lengths? (I used 6" as a guide). It sounds like you've got uneven points. 6" is plenty for a high pitch at 138cm, and should be equal tension across the fly.
Re the inner, it can be a faff, with a high pitch though, it shouldn't be sagging - also remember to pitch the front two points (entrance side) slightly further back to pull the back of the inner away from the rear corners. Hope this helps!

Aye, that worked for me, as long as the tie outs are of equal length you should be fine though! I'd recommend just measuring from your thumb to your pinky on each tie out & peg it at that.

Great video. The problem I have with my Hexpeak is the two long tapes used to get the initial shape end up being about 1 or 2 inches off the ground and are a nuisance. How do you sort that?
Hi mate, I’m glad you found it useful! I have the same issue, I just unclip them once the tent is pitched. I’ve yet to try pitching without them to see how much more of a faff that is 🤔
What a fantastic video! I've had the Hex Peak for five years now but still struggle to pitch it as I like, sometimes. I've been thinking of making my own video to share the tips I've gained from elsewhere... But now having seen your tricks, I may have to make my own mods first. ;-)

@@outlawedlandscapes Ah, yeah, I was wondering whether you might try a different inner for winter.
I've had issues with the outer being curved even when taught but your video is the first to explain how to fix that. I tend to not use the intermediate pegs on the outer. But now seeing they line up well with the inner, I feel more inclined to use at least two of them.
I took a tip from Bob's video to colour code the dyneema so I know which pegs to put in first. But now I may replace the lot with 3mm cord. ;-)
@@WalksWithOlly Aye, the aux pegs/stakes definitely help with the inner and moreso with stability and wind performance. It’s a pain carrying more weight, but worth it when you reap the rewards 😁
The 3mm is great because the line-locs truly bite - they’re going NOWHERE! I don’t know if you’re noticing a theme, but I bought the Hex for it’s bad weather performance 😅
Bob is great - a lot of the little details in my video actually came from a phone call we had wherein I was struggling to pitch the shelter properly. Thought the info was too good not to share 🙂
Great video, thank you. Just got the Hexpeak myself and can't wait to get it out. One question, have you used the inner loops to secure the mid point of the inner tent? It appears there are loops sewn into the fly halfway up on the seams and corresponing loops on the inner tent. I can imagine these would make a big difference in keeping the mesh from sagging, but I was wondering if you'd experienced any issues using them. Thank you!
Hi Jeromy, good question! I don’t mention it in this video and someone else mentioned it below. While if the tent is pitched properly the inner should be nice and tight, the loops do indeed help, just use a wee s hook or lightweight clip to join them 😁
I’m also working on an all in one pitch, just need to figure out how to work the tie out points.

@Outlawed Landscapes What do you use for storing the tent? I have a Minipeak and a Hexpeak I havent tried yet but the minipeak and its inner is a bit annoyingly tight to fit into the bag it comes with. Do you find that orange bag to be an improvement and if so how? :)
I just use a 15l drybag, which does the job as I can just stuff the tent in quickly. However, I’d like to upgrade that to one with an air valve to get ride of all the air and get an even smaller pack size with less effort!
Tubular tent bags are a PITA unless you can wrap your tent round it’s own poles, but even then, you’re restricted to how you carry it (either outside the rucksack or taking up more space than necessary on the inside).
Hexpeak looks amazing. Always looked elsewhere due to being 6'3. Is there enough sleep space for me and a standard sleep system?

You might struggle at that height with the standard inner, but your feet wouldn't touch the fly. The F6E might be a better option as it's slightly bigger :)
@@outlawedlandscapes, I’m 6ft 1in and I would say that’s already beyond the limit. I do frequently touch at bottom or top of the standard inner. Also, the inner is very close to my face when lying down. I’m still okay with it and love the tent but wouldn’t outright recommend to anybody above 6ft.
Excellent video with clear and precise explanations. Definitely going to look into your modifications with a view to adopting some / all as I sometimes have problems with the inner (not central, too close to the fly, too saggy, etc). Just one question. Do you leave the 2 black "tension straps" joined to the tent after having erected the fly or do you remove them / detach one end? I would have thought that if you left them on and the bottom of the fly is 4 - 6 inches off the ground they would get in the way of the inner (at the rear) and be a "trip hazard" (at the front). I actually forgot to mention that in the video, but once the flysheet is tensioned up I pop the straps out of one side. You're bang on about why - especially the tripping hazard.. haha!

My guys are ~6ft, but once tensioned I generally have them at about 4ft (not something I've actually considered). Some say that this is short, but I've found that they work very effectively! 😀

The fly itself is only 660g! The standard inner is quite heavy, but you can get a four season inner at half of that from Aliexpress (Lanshan/Asta inners) :)
@@outlawedlandscapes That's really useful thanks. If I'm understanding correctly it's 2kg with trekking poles, however I always carry poles so for me I would discount them, so that's 1.6 kg for the tent. That is a stonking strength to weight ratio, especially if you can drop it further with a different inner. I have fancied a pyramid tent for a while to give me something with more head room during winter, this looks like it could be ideal.
As an aside your lighter pack is bloody good considering you are carrying a camera rig and a video rig. I'm into wild camping and photography but when I carry my camera gear my pack weight is horrendous, you seem to have it dialled in. Thanks for the reply, I have really been enjoying your videos. Matt
Aye, it was the perfect balance between standard/lightweight for me when buying and though my intention was to go as low as possible, after its performance in the wind I'm really not bothered about the weight anymore! Be nice in warmer conditions just to take the fly, but then I'll have midges to contend with.. haha!
In terms of my overall weight, I got sick of lugging 20+kg up and over mountains - I can do it no bother, but it detracts from my enjoyment of the overall trip. My winter kit will be a wee bit heavier, but over time I aim to reduce weight in sleeping bag / pad, it's just a case of forking out the cash! :)

Hi John, I specifically bought the Hexpeak for me and the dog, though I think it depends on how your companion sleeps, Coops curls up beside me so there is enough room for him, alternatively you can get the two man inner (3 season) specifically for the tent or a third party inner from Aliexpress (which I plan to do as a) they are lighter and b) you get 4 season versions 😊

I just use the smallest ones, they are plenty strong enough for the guys. They’re quite expensive (£5 for 2) but they’re useful for quite a few things 👍🏻

Did you seem seal all the outside seams on the fly as well as the inner seams or did you just seam seal the outer sewn seams ??? I am just in the process of tweaking mine but on first impressions its looking awesome and looks more solid than my Duomid in terms of shape because when you tighten the guys on the Duomid it loses its form slightly which is more of an aesthetics issue and not performance.

I did both, starting with the outside. I focused on the seams around the 'crown', lathering them quite heavily, then worked down the longer seams. I then re-pitched the tent in the garden during a period of sustained rainfall and over a few days I observed the points that would drip slightly once the tent was properly saturated and sealed to suit. This included re-covering points on the outside as well as on the inside - from memory it was the stitching on the guyline tie out points on the inside and high tension points around that 'crown'. Since then, I haven't had any issues.
I haven't had a chance to see the Duomid's, so I can't comment on that, but you make an interesting point. I reckon it's probably because they have four panels as opposed to the Hexpeaks six, which on paper would give you better tension across the overall flysheet? The good thing about the guys on the Hex is that they just take any excess movement in the fabric and lock it down :D Saying that though, the duomids (especially the DCF ones from what I've seen) are super strong as well!
@@outlawedlandscapes Cheers for that....i did pretty much the same yesterday using a cotton bud instead of that stiff brush they send with the sealant and i used my finger too on the flat stitched seams. I used the whole tube so hopefully it has done the job . My Duo mid was done by MLD and looks super neat and hardly noticeable compared to my own effort on the Hexpeak and its disappointing that they don't offer a professional service for what i am hoping is a very good tent because it certainly looks and feels well made but only time will tell.
Great video! I have this tent on my shortlist with currently three concerns: 1. Will the inner fit me (6ft 1in)? I’m okay in a Lanshan 1 Pro. 2. Is the floor space a hindrance in finding a suitable spot? 3. How long does it take to pitch - with practice?

1. I think you'd be pushing it a wee bit in the inner tent, but would be fine with the flysheet. I'm 5' 9 and I've got a decent bit of head/foot room, but given the taper of the pyramid shape I couldn't say for sure once a sleeping pad/bag. 2. I haven't had any issues finding a pitch at all, if anything it just makes you look a bit harder for a good spot.
3. I haven't timed myself, but it's very quick once you get the practice in (

I fit but yes there isn’t too much room. It’s size wise quite similar to a Lanshan 1 Pro … until you enter the porch which is a palace in the Hexpeak.

Nice video. I have the same tent, bought from the same company several months ago. My fly actually clips onto O rings on the fly, rather than looping over existing pegs. Does/did yours have the same clips?
If I remember correctly then it came with similar loops/hooks. I took them off almost immediately though, as I found the inner sat a bit high. I also wanted a separate pitch for both components and the wee hooks were a bit of a pain - plus there's no adjustment in them.
@@outlawedlandscapes yeh, they are a faff. Looping around the peg pulled the inner too close to the fly, even when loosely tensioned, but I like your approach with the shock cord and tensioner, so might give that a bash.
@@KramF10 Aye, it’s a good workaround and seems to work well if you can get the position right. Literally my only main gripe with the tent is those two “front” tie outs on the inner not lining up 100% for an effective pitch. I may have to experiment with a couple of extra pegs/stakes though I don’t want to add more to the already large number I take 😂
@@outlawedlandscapes I'm up in the Highlands and high camp regular all year, typically I would use a full geo, but got this to try for a lighter off season alternative. The pitch options up high are usually pish, so any tent sits ridiculous. For me, as long as it's anchored down and stable for the wind, that's good enough haha.

The hex is good in that every point can be adjusted to suit the contours of the ground, just a case of finding a decent flattish spot for the inner. It’s maybe a wee bit big for raiding ridges, but I’ve yet to try that!

It really is a brilliant tent and I can't believe how little you actually hear about them. IIRC, the double inner is mostly mesh and is quite heavy for what it is - better looking for lightweight 3/4 season inners (depending on your needs) on Aliexpress :) You can buy the Hexpeak flysheet on its own if you're going down that route. I opted for the full thing with intentions of getting a double inner further down the line.

I find the pole in the middle troublesome. The poles for the A shape resolve the problem. A bit heavier though..

I got the tent and spotted that there are hooks at half height on the outside of the inner that are matched with hooks on the inside of the outer. Did anybody connect these two to increase the space inside the inner? Those loops are matched with the loops for the guy lines. So, I can see that you could pull the inner further away to increase head space.

I think if you pitch the fly “high” that would give you a bit more room in the inner and helps to taughten the inner up a bit, I’ve never bothered though as I’ve found just adjusting the apex tensioner I get a nice tight pitch 👌🏻
Cheers. I just enjoyed my first night out on the top of Scald Law (Pentland Hills) a couple of days ago. Frost and a proper breeze. I would have never put my Lanshan up under those conditions. No problem for the Hexpeak. I made the mods that you suggested. Thanks a lot. Seam-sealed it, too. I used the little plastic clips from the inner’s guy lines to attach the inner to the outer at half height. For somebody like me (6ft 1in), it makes some difference in terms of head room. The solid going up to about 40cm on the inner really makes a difference to keep the draft out. I look forward to my next trip.

Followed these instructions and it looked worse than when I did it before! This is going to take some time 😄 (not blaming your instructions btw). It's that last door peg, it's out of whack with the rest for some reason. I've tried changing the height of the pole but that's not helped. This is more of a challenge to put up than my actual teepee 😄
Keep at it and you'll get there, remember to hook the door before pinning it and have it taut, but not tight. It's all about equal tension and the right height. Start at 138cm and you should have the general shape fine before you lash it down 👌 Let me know how you get on 🙂

The fact that just a standard trekking poles are not really suitable makes this tent less desirable for many i think. Why wouldnt they provide some simple extension for a single pole ..
I managed to get the Leki “Voyager” poles, which work very, very well 👌🏻
I find the minipeak xl much easier and quicker to pitch.

@@outlawedlandscapes Similar but much, much easier. The minipeak is a pyramid meaning only 4 corners. Role it outt in a square, peg 4 corners loosely, then pole inside. If weather bad there are loops for 2 extra, but not really needed. I use a Pomoly titanium stove in mine, love it..I slept right through a storm in Snowdonia only knew about it in the morning because other guys tents were blown down or flattened ! Tempted to try octopeak.
Not sure I like the pole in the middle of the doorway, also I'm a strong believer that a well designed tent, shouldn't need to be modified.
But as long as you're happy with it, thats all that matters.
Fair enough, my mods to the tent were personal preferences though and I'm always tinkering. I've even marked and colour coded all of the notable mountains on my OS maps ;)
Re the pole, that's just mid tents / teepee design. There are folk that make an inverted v frame with 2x poles and connectors, so I'd like to give that a shot - the space in the hex is incredible as is! :o
