    I have a Deeper Pro +, and I have used it a lot shore fishing to learn about what's really on the bottom of lakes and rivers. I have also used it to find concentrations of fish to fish to, and I have discovered that some places I was going to fish were devoid of fish at certain times of year! You can't catch 'em if they aren't there! Now that I have a kayak, this arm is on my wish list!

    Pedals are getting loud. Do they need maintenance? I have a Titan and have to grease them every so often.

    • @KayakhacksFishing
      @KayakhacksFishing  Před 6 lety +2

      No - the issue is my camera is not insulated from the boat so the vibration noise is magnified. It hums when going fast and is pretty quiet... not perfectly quiet... when pedalling slow to sneak up.

    So, i wonder how it would work with bigger and choppier waves? Id like to take this on lake erie but worried it wont work as well with the bigger waves. thoughts?

    • @KayakhacksFishing
      @KayakhacksFishing  Před 5 lety +1

      I've been on Lake Erie and the waves can get high! Hmmmm. Well, it is connected to your kayak and the kayak is going to go up and down with the waves. The flex would add a few more inches of freedom to the kayak motion. If the kayak is rolling with the waves, I think it would come out of the water. That's ok... it will not lose the connection if it hits the water again (after all, it was made for casting as well).

      @@KayakhacksFishing Im almost thinking that if it was just attached to a line or rope close to the yak, it should just be fine and floating there next to the boat. The arm may actually hinder it. Have you used the deeper? how do you like it?

    • @KayakhacksFishing
      @KayakhacksFishing  Před 5 lety

      I tried using it attached to a rod and dragging it behind the kayak. It bobs down in the water too much and looses connection. But, if you were stationary, that would work. I do like it, but use it differently than most. I fish shallow water - 5 feet max - in open bays and marsh. So I use it to find the channels and the dropoffs instead of finding fish under the boat. I also use it in "shore mode" and cast it up or down channel to scout for fish.

    Nice review. How quick does that drain your phone battery?

    • @KayakhacksFishing
      @KayakhacksFishing  Před 6 lety +4

      I have not seen a real problem with that. However, I typically only fish for 5 hours or so at a whack and use a second really cheap phone to run the Deeper. That means the other stuff I have going on my real phone do not draw down the power.

    Is there more of an cost effective option for a flexible arm?

    • @KayakhacksFishing
      @KayakhacksFishing  Před 4 lety

      I am not aware of one. It is pricey. I tried just dragging the Deeper behind the boat, but the signal gets cut off as it wobbles in the water.

    What’s the minimum depth reading of the 2.0

    • @KayakhacksFishing
      @KayakhacksFishing  Před 6 lety +1

      The mount does not impact the depth reading. The deeper unit itself has a minimum of around 3 feet.

    What boots were you wearing and do they keep little rocks/shell out?

    • @KayakhacksFishing
      @KayakhacksFishing  Před 6 lety +2

      They are from Soft Science (amzn.to/2K7owiH) and I love them. They shed water very well through many small holes in the fabric as well as drain holes in the bottom. The insole comes out for cleaning. I wear a US size 9.5 and the size 8 is what I bought. I thought they ran large maybe assuming you would wear a neoprene sock with them. I walk in mud, sand and oysters all the time. I got mine from Academy.

      Yep. They do not sound that loud on the boat, but the vibration is amplified by the camera being attached to the kayak. I need to figure out insulation.
