Kelsey Grammar played the part of Frasier brilliantly for many years, but to me, David Hyde-Pierce made this show. His comedic chops are superb. They both have incredible chemistry and comedic timing. My wife watches this show so much, I even start to get tired of it, but if there's any show that she's going to rewatch over and over, this is one I can totally put up with. It's a smart and funny show.
The pauses for the laugh track even work. Niles processing being told about her and Fraiser just being exasperated by that. Like it doesn't just become awkward to watch when the track is removed in this scene.
Whenever I see a video that removes the laugh track from these shows it always becomes funnier than the original. The awkward pauses are way funnier than a laugh track.
The "laugh track" (they claim not to have one) noises are so overdone as to make the shows, at times, repulsive. The actors were so excellent and the laugh track so intrusive as to be an insult to the actors, as well as the audience. If anyone can remove the "laugh" I would gladly replace the pitiful shows.
The inspiration for Frasier was Winchester from MASH, both pompous, aristocratic Harvard doctors from Boston with Brahmin-esque accents. They even referenced the connection by having the actor who played Winchester appear on an episode of Frasier as a cultured psychiatrist who used to work closely with Frasier's mother and is so similar to Frasier and Niles they wonder he might be their real father.

I have read the scripts and laughed. They are brilliantly written.

Never seen this episode of Frasier. Wow when you take away the laugh track from Frasier it just becomes a serious show. Didn't laugh a single time.
