- Finally got a TV up to new-gen console standard. The TCL Series 6 offers 4K 120HZ gaming on a budget compared to the big brands.
I'm spending more and more time away from my gaming PC, and it's been a blast.

The model I reviewed is the R646 - geni.us/TCL646. Had a lot of questions about software - no bugs or issues! It's been badass.
That's the wrong link it sends me to a hisense tv
Link don’t work
Is there a smaller version then 55
The fact that now the words "budget" and "4K 120Hz" can be in the same sentence shows how far tech has advanced in the last few years.
Hi Minimalis Tech! I love your reviews and they’re very informative without being boring. Keep it up!
I usually work at best buy seasonal and in the last few years it's gotten better. I did purchase mine about 6 months ago and I'm still impressed
Is it really that good?
@@vincikuns8519 yes the pixels burn in a little. That's why you have to wait before you get it calibrated
2:23 answered my question. Was scared that I thought I bought the wrong tv or something. Can't wait to get it tomorrow. Now I know which ports to use for HDMI 2.1 gaming. Thanks dude.
Know you posted this some time ago but i gotta say. I'm really loving your videos and after seeing your video on making them i appreciate it even more. Keep it up!
Great review! Gonna probably pick this one
Got this 2021 tcl r646 65in tv and...been great ever since. Movies and gaming look great!
I have been looking into this tv. This video is very helpful. Thank you.✌️👍
Nice review...Just got the 65 inch version of this tv to replace my LG plasma TV and I could not be happier. I was also onsidering the LG B2 OLED, but it was twice the price--for anyone considering an excellent 4k for an incredible price, this is the one.
I went from a mid range LG to a mid range TCL about the same price, but everything is a massive upgrade. So happy with it. LG is only better with flagship OLED products but they are much more expensive.
My Tivi not turn ON after 2 years of gaming.. 😢
@@LoveLove12835what model do you have? This one from the video?
Great review mate! 👍🏾
Thank you so much for this review! While I have the potential to buy a more expensive TV, I feel like my money would be more Well spent if I took some of the extra money and invested in a really good sound system like something in the Sonos ecosystem which I already have a couple speakers for. I appreciate a good picture, but sound is just important to me as I watch and listen to a lot of music and movies and a model like this seemingly is going to do what I need to do as far as giving me that frame rate and HDR that I’m sorely lacking in my current TV and will feel like a true upgrade but give me the headroom to invest in both. Cheers!
“invested” is a pretty loosely used term in this context 🤣. I feel you though, consumerism lets goooo
It takes two with such an awesome game. I played that with my son. I never knew that a game like that can teach you so much and is such a conversation starter with your child and as a father who is happily married, getting to just bond with my son over this game and just learn so much. This game is on a whole other level to me
My wife and I are STILL playing through it. It’s such an amazing game. We sparsely have the time. Hence not having finished it this many month later. I just love playing with her at our own pace though.
Your comment made me smile. I’ll 100% be sure to play this with my daughter when she’s a bit older. She’d likely just jump into walls for now lol.
@@MinimalisTech No, I think that's the best way to play. It is at your own pace and it's the best way to like take in everything. I'd love to hear what you think about it when you finish it 🙏
@@bernardjackson4974 I’ll pick it up with the mrs. this evening again thanks to you.
Thanks man 👊🏽👊🏽
TV manufacturers only put 2 HDMI 2.1 ports because they're limited by the processors that are available to integrate into their TV's. LG makes their own processors that support 4 HDMI 2.1
Sony BRAVIAs are the same too
Bought a 120hz switcher on Amazon for $25 bucks well worth it
Samsung has 3/4 as well
I have a spare sharp aquos tv from 10 years ago, couldn’t believe it had 7 hdmi ports
Loved the videos keep going
Thanks for the Review, I'm buying this Tv for my Ps5!!
To clarify this is the R646 model! Which supports hdmi 2.1. Cheers!
Did they fix all the issues they were have at the beginning of the year?
What issues? Can someone enlighten me?
They had really bad software issues to the point where they had to pulled them off the selves here in the US
@@HTH21 you mean data leak?
@@HirineN that an a lot of glitches which I’m sure were fixed by updates but haven’t heard anything since they were put back on the selves
I own the 55” version and it’s a great TV. It’s no Sony Bravia but bang for your buck, TCL is the way to go!
What do you think is it big i have bad eyes actually will it be good for gaming?
55 is quite decent@@bryandechart9417
I have an older TCL series 6. Recently stopped working, bad power board. Luckily I could replace it myself and saved the TV. So my thought is the quality just isn't up to the top tier manufacturers. Had a 50" LG plasma for 7 years, sold it for $50 over 2 years ago and the person is still using it. Also and the picture is great even though only 1080.
As far as picture quality it can't compete with OLED, not even the newer QLED sets. I have a Sony OLED also and the picture is amazing. And the sound also with its screen transducers. With the Sony you can hook up an external powered sub-woofer to the headphone out jack and enjoy awesome sound without having to get a soundbar. Great sound with no visible external speakers, very nice.
Great review! 👍🏻
Great review 💯
I got this TV back in January but the many google home issues made me return it and invest on the Samsung Qn90a, have had no issues with this tv
Ya this TV is very nice I'd also recommend the Hisense U8g it has all the same features for around the same price as the TCL I bought the 65 in version on sale and I'm extremely impressed with it they only had the Roku version of the TCL but I wanted Andriod/Google TV
You know what? I’ve been getting a lot of comparisons about the Hisense. I think I’ll have to check it out and do a comparison.
Just returned a U8G for this because of a weird line across the top of the screen and pretty bad dirty screen effect, Hisense is great but they have very bad qaulity control so it's very likely you'll have to replace it once or twice before you get a great panel
how much does it cost at sale?
@@utube3156 I got mine for $1100 usd or $1400 cad on cyber monday last year
I had both tv, the tcl 6-series with Roku and the Hisense. I can say that TCL beats the Hisense by a lot. The black levels are superb on the TCL compare to the Hisense and the 4k content is amazing. The Hisense had an ok black levels and the images did not compared to the 4k. On top of that in less than an year I had to replace the mother board on the Hisense due to green screen sometimes.
Hi! Just bought a TCL C641 QLED :) it should be the same tv as you have (I guess). Did you change any screen or tv settings for gaming? Or are you using the automatic gaming mode without any changes when you play?
I will use it primary for my Xbox Series X.
Thanks for the video!
It actually has 2 15 watt speakers instead of 8. Great review man! I’m gonna be getting this tv soon.
Wish I could afford a TV like this 😭 inflation hitting hard
I feel you man, just though about updating my old TV, checked the prices and tapped my old TV ''keep going buddy''.
@@yesnoyeswait4306 you ain’t really getting around that. If you want a good TVs that’s up to par with the latest tech, you can’t go below $1,000. Doesn’t matter the year you buy, how long you wait, if you’re wanting a genuine upgrade, gotta be willing to drop the dough. Spent $1700 on a LG C1 and it was well worth the money.
@@dylanhumphrey2479 Yes im getting around that. You are those people, who think that you need super expensive OLED TV that you can watch some game of thrones before bed. Just stop man, stop being dishonest.. I dont need super expensive TV for some TV series and movies. I will continue use my PC monitor mostly, so im not gonna spend 1700$ for some secondary screen for fucks sakes... Im sick of all the reddit HDR-cults and those dishonest ''enthusiasts''. You guys are worse than religious people.
TV’s won’t be cheap no matter what and actually this tv is like 400 not bad
@@michaelscorner5889 True that. Too bad we don't have in Europe these budget TCL or Hisense models. Mostly LG and Samsung here, and can't find 120hz TV's under 600 euros. I think i have to pay 650 euros for Q70A. Or 700 for Q80A. Way more than i would like to spend, but what you gonna do...
How do I enable 120 hz with this tv and my ps5? I just got both. Every time I go to my ps5 it says 4K 60hz top left
I love TCL. I might just have to get this one. I just want a 4k tv with 120hz and a Roku TV. Look very promising!
Whats the name ofeit
Can I ask you a question, on battlefront 2 with fps boost enabled, I loose the ability to adjust the HuD Scale. So basically the scale is blown up out of proportion.
Amazon and bestbuy have this TV for $640 right now. Thank you for the review
I have a TCL 60hz 4K tv from 2019. It's great and I've been waiting for a TCl 120hz tv to come down in price. Probably going to get this over that Hisense U8G. Heard the Hisense TV has a ghosting effect
Can you do a video of any bugs if any that you may be experiencing?
is the reaction time with consoles good? Like when you press a button or move the joy stick is it smooth while gaming or does it ahve some type of delay
Awesome tv I was able get me a hysense U7G and it’s been good for my series S
Does the screen darken a lil when you switch to 120?
I have the 120hz Samsung UE55RU8000 TV and it's unfortunate that it has a faulty screen and the screens are discontinued now. Such a nice TV design too but I have to change unfortunately
Can u bring the stand closer or is it unadjustable?? My table is 42.5 inches and idk if it will be long enuff to hold the tv
I cant get mine to stay at 120 hz ? Please help !
I have it on gamemaster, but it switches back to 60 hz ?
Hi did you have to calibrate the tv in game mode? I have the same tv and I find that colors in game mode are washed out looks weird
Can you share your sdr and hdr game settings?
Is the tcl c835 any good is it better than the 6 series? I'm looking at maybe buying the 65 inch or is sony x90k better?
does it contain ALLM port ?and option to switch on/off in the tv? to use it in new ps5 update
Does it do 4k 120 with dolby vision? Can't find the answer online
Bro I'm definitely buying this tv this summer might have to sell my current tv to make space but for this it's worth it
I bought this TV last year, and I love it I own two now. And buying one more for the wife, the only issue I have is that on the top left of the screen the color has shifted. Other than that great TV.
What do you mean the color shifted? Did something hit the screen? Or did it happen on its own? How does it change thee screen?
@@dragon1353 No damage, part of the left side on the top a lite color shade of purple appear. I noticed that the colors on that specific location, seem to dim down and looked purplish. Still a good TV for its value.
I have this tv & my ps5 don’t want to go to 120hz? You have any clue what it can be?
I really liked that tv. I just ordered it.
Would you get this over the 43" sony x85k? Same price
Just got the pervious year model, cost almost 300 bucks less. Thanks for the awesome video ❤
Can you do a vid on how it performs with the recent ps5 vrr update?
I’ve had it since it came out, it’s great. Really really good.
Hey can you run your PC on the TCL really like to know how it went.
I want to ask a question, is the tcl screen stronger than the LG c2?
Has anybody had a problem with screen going blank and only getting sound. Mine did and I had to unplug power and replug power to get the picture back. Now on occasion screen goes black for a couple seconds then comes back. Tv is not even a year old.
Helpful review. You sit on your couch and play. For a PC... is the 55" too big for flight sim on a desk? seems massive and likely fry my eyes being roughly 36" from it
I tried it! There’s a video on my channel
For this actually.
Yes it’s big as heck. But manageable depending how deep your desk is. I was only about 30” away.
Getting LG C3 55 inch...never played at 120 hertz I hope it's not hard to adjust too.
what are your preferred image settings?
Чувак, спасибо, что продал мне этот телек. Хотел себе тоже LG C1, но цена..
Но благодаря обзору - я теперь обладатель аналогичного ТВ (другая версия для СНГ).
It doesn't support full 4:4:4 chroma on 4k/120, unfortunately. Apparently it a hardware limitation of it's mediatek SoC...
How does this compare to the Bravia X75K? I know that isn't 120hz however, is there much different in picture quality, HDR and the like?
There is no direct comparison between the TCL 6-Series and the Sony X75K. The TCL 6-Series is a budget-friendly TV with excellent picture quality, while the Sony X75K is a mid-range TV with great picture quality. The main difference between the two TVs is in their features and specifications. The TCL 6-Series has a higher native refresh rate (120Hz vs 60Hz), lower input lag, and a faster response time. The Sony X75K has a better contrast ratio, better color accuracy, and supports Dolby Vision HDR.
Whats the best tv talking about pc input lag 5 series or 6 series I need to know
Congrats❤
I'm here saving for a laptop that doubles as a gaming machine and a content consumption tool,so😂😂😂😂🤷🏽♂️
Hi, can you set this up on the wall? Didnt seem like it
I recommend the LG CX (which is older than the C1) 120hz 4k and lovely Freesync/Gsync. Can be found pretty cheap these days and looks insane.
Define “pretty cheap”
Nah overall good quality tv. It poorly built. Had to get my unit repaired twice and at this point it won’t display anything with out the screen freezing and turning off. When I play heavy games on my pc it will turn off. I’m not willing to risk it fixing and breaking on me again.
Hello, I asked you to define cheap please answer me
LG OLED is nice, but they are expensiev. For mid range TCL is so much better value
Can u make a video of how you mounted it to the wall ?
Hey man i got a problem i tried to play with VRR on my ps5 but ive been getting screen flickering any suggestions
is every game in xbox series X running an 210hz and 4K? i have heard thaht most of the time the resolution drops to FHD or similar..
Does this TV work well with a gaming laptop or gaming desktop??
hi can u give me advice? im pc gamer should i go 48 or 50/55 inches?desk depth is ~27inches
PC 21:9 / 34" is best. Samsung Odyssey G5 is phenomenal. 1440p 165Hz. You can play many games achieving very upscaled graphics cuz of the screen size. Do not invest into a 4K monitor. Only 4K TV's is worth it cuz it's bigger. When I say bigger tho, at-least get a 65" to notice the differences. Both LG C1 or the New Quantum Dot Samsung Neo Series is excellent for gaming. Hisense if you don't care about branding or fancy features or aesthetics.
I have the same tv. After a year is was starting to flicker a little. I can’t complain. It was cheap. Now I am buying a gaming monitor. You get lot for your money when you get a gaming monitor.
All tv's with hdmi 2.1 are too big for my space! Is there a tv with 120h that's within the 40 inch range?
Are you able to attach it to a wall mount?
My wife and I also play It Takes Two, she's not a gamer at all but she loves it.
It Takes Two and Unraveled are great games for playing with people who don't usually play.
Im courios witch games you will play in 120 hz :)
please the wallpaper on your xbox where can i get it
Does 120hz mean 120 fps? I’m trying to find a cheaper tv that can support 120 frames per second for ps5
Got a lg nano cell 90 series and I've loved it so far and has all the features
It’s missing an eject feature for YOUS wife.
That was my previous TV too, my Sony oled is coming tomorrow 😈😈
I have the 55 inch variant of this tv & it’s so awesome 👏
But wow I had no idea about the cord management on the leg 😱
Thanks for the heads up 💯%
I heard some people say that there are A LOT of bugs. Is that true? (Like apps crashing, changing settings randomly etc..)
Jeez! And I was looking at 800+ at monitors. Sheesh tv/ for 200-300 can be good enough for me. I want color, something that can hit p3 100%
Does it get all of the green checks on the Xbox?
Did you test out Hisense?
Hi, I bought the 4k HDMI cable. Will the normal one work as well with my other consoles?
I’m going to use the 4K for my PS5, but I was also wanting to have my other consoles play on the tv as well
The last two times I've gotten TCL the lcd ends up going out few months later last one half the screen is dark and can't fix it
Have you noticed. Dolby bision being very dark?
I wanna get this but I'm worried that the image might be choppy
Can you clarify is it better then tcl c725
Been looking into getting a new tv. Mine is a tcl 6-series I had bought in 2019. Was a very good screen for that year but i thought it was 120hz..cause where I bought it said 120hz and everything said it was but its a native 120hz which I didnt realize till I bought the series x and hooked it up Saturday so, Tcl has been a good tv and even got knocked off a table on its back on a hardwood floor and didnt break. A few lines on the side but hey. Its still a good picture. So Tcl hasnt let me down minus well stay with them
Congratulations! You can now play Pacman on 4k 120hz !
I have tcl c728 55...it is really great tv, for ps5 and everything else, it is 2.1 hdmi and 120hz panel
Mate why in uk
C728 does not have 120hz or 2.1 hdmi ?
My TCL died right after the warranty ended. Only TV I've ever had fail on me and my case wasn't unique. You get what you pay for with these cheaper brands.
I'm picking mine up tomorrow
Can u get this tv in uk would be big help if any can give me a link to buy it
The item in description on Amazon doesn’t appear to have HDMI 2.1. Is the correct link in description?
The TV doesn’t have HDMI 2.1
No 4k@120hz :/
@@freshprince8608 it does
Is it better than the tcl 50S555 model??
can anyone help? I have the xbox series x and do I need to turn vrr on ? I have a 1080 p 144 hz monitor..
Hello! Good afternoon, sorry, I'm from Mexico and I bought this screen, it looks beautiful, I like it a lot, but I have a problem, I have a Samsung Ht-j5500k Home Theater and it has always worked for me with surround sound, on this screen, not even putting the manual ARC options or anything, I have managed to get surround sound through my theater, it only sends stereo sound, I would like to know if something similar has happened to someone, please help me, I have time to return it in case it does not work for surround sound with any more sophisticated home theater or avr receiver
Does it have option to hang it on the wall ?
Nc budget tv,but i notice the bloom and picture quality is so so.needs calibration as well. But its a good price!
i like your tv stand too. where is that from
Hey thanks for watching.
We got this off of Wayfair years back. Not sure they’re still around but it’s a popular design.
Cheers
What is this model in the UK ?
It doesn’t show anymore can you put a new link ?
