Most fisherman I’ve ever spoke to/met have been complete melts. I semi-understand you not wanting to tell people your *exact* location but to just give the name of the river is basically pointless. If you wanna be coy about your fishing spot then why upload videos online?

I think most anglers would like to know the river, and if it’s the Severn/Trent whether it’s the lower, middle etc, so I don’t see it as pointless. I don’t share the location as local anglers who fish the stretch don’t appreciate it and I don’t have permission from the clubs. I don’t feel not sharing the location takes away from the entertainment.

It’s because of selfish reluctance to share information that these small-time tackle shops are closing down and that the hobby as a whole is dying. Next time, just title the video “River fishing in the UK”… may as well!
