Tek works a little differently than is said in the guide (it checks then it hits) but I'm sure a lot of learners are gonna benefit a lot from this.
Consider arclight tech for your HCIM btw, at Ice Demon, if you don't have a crossbow and rubies. I'm surprised BP and void even hits now, particularly after the nerf. You'll really notice the difference.

It's be more helpful if you elaborated on Tekton instead of just saying it's different tho. That's how I've been explaining the room to anyone, and our Tekton rooms have all been fine.
I've tried arclight at Tech,, but I'm not trying to speed run on my HCIM so I'm the timing on that kill doesn't matter as much as making through the whole raid with all my points lol. So I'm not trying to add more things just for pre olm room, plus I skip Demon more often than not looking for crope

Yeah, I didn't want to write something lengthy, as I just wanted really to say the guide's great.
Synq talks about scanning here: czcams.com/video/X3DK-tztm6c/video.html (although I don't think it's very thorough).
Basically what happens is that about 2 ticks before Olm actually physically hits the player, it checks to see whether a player is there to hit.
If no-one's there, it decides to go back to the anvil. That's why you can not be hit by Tekton but not have it go back to the anvil; there are 2 stages, scan (which can sometimes be seen as him pulling his arm across his chest) and hit.
Let me try and find some timestamps for your example videos.
Okay, so at 49:08 Tekton turns. You can see that after he turns, he does an animation but doesn't hit the players (49:09). That's the scan. Then you all run around and miss the hits.
You're now on his north side and he does the same scan (the left hand comes swinging down at the players) - at about 49:11. Then at 49:12 he goes to do his hit, but you're all out of view. He then checks again at 49:15 (and you dodge the hit again).
Look at 49:26. The final player running will be scanned and then be hit - hit on his second not first animation. Were you not there for the first animation, Tek would have gone back to the anvil.
FWIW, you're running too fast with a 4t weapon. With a 4t weapon, you should be hitting twice on one side and then once on the next side and repeating that cycle. Watch from 0:50 here: streamable.com/mbm0lj
You can practice this in a solo CM ofc.
If you're with people only with 4t weapons, that you run faster isn't going to cause that many issues, but as soon as you try running around with people with scythes or mauls you're going to make it so they need to miss hits or run even faster than you to keep up. That's when you'll find experienced players just not bother running around and instead flinching the sides.
You can see this is true by using an elder maul and hitting once each side - the length of a Tekton rotation if not skipped too quickly is 6 ticks, not 4. You're basically running as though you have an elder maul with a lance (4t).
If people start flinching and not running around, to take the least damage possible, you can camp the north side of Tekton. (If someone is south he'll hit that player instead - he looks for the most players first, then he prioritizes: S > N > W > E). You can see this for yourself by having one person stand south, one north, and one east. Only the player on the south will be hit. If he flinches, no1 will take damage.

overwhelming amount of information for this raid but thanks for the video. i dont have any friends that play osrs so i will be tackling this adventure solo. i wish there was a beginner version like ToB but oh well here goes nothing!

Great vid! What's the overlay you're using for categorizing the gear swaps with the green/blue underline?
"Inventory Tags" on runelite. You can go into the plug in settings to do underline or outline
I went in solo for the diary.
For first attempt I timed out (6 hours limit), since I forgot to log out/in to reset the timer before starting.
What worked for me without any pvm skills (and seemingly high ping for what at the Guardians was visible on my screen had nothing to do with what was going on) is to bring full switches and use the resources of the raid to heal. I just needed to make sure that Vespula and Vasa are not included. This video helped a lot at learning how to get the feel of Olm's rhytm.
Oh, and I brought a fang instead of a tentacle. Much good. Also a bludgeon against Tekton, which hit too many 0s even with full offensive melee switch and stats having been reduced with d hammer. I wonder if a Lightbearer would come handy to land more specials on Tekton and on Olm's left hand.
Still, how I did it is not too good for points, it's really just a diary escape. I should git gud to also have a good chance for uniques.
Can't wait to use this guide when I get my bowfa in 1500kc

Very solid beginners guide! However, there are a few inaccuracies i'd like to point out.
Something you didn't mention, but did do in the footage is bringing a dragon axe. Every type of axe in cox is equal, so you'll only ever want to use a cheap, disposable axe.
Hammer/bgs speccing vasa in small scales is not worth it. When he reaches a crystal he starts regenerating his defence VERY fast; like 0 to full in just a few ticks fast.
Tekton does not start attacking when he's attacked by any player. He only starts attacking when he has gotten into melee distance of his target. Also, only crush with a scythe if you're in full inq.
As for the Olm fight: As long as the mage hand is being damaged, the mage tank does NOT have to run all the way to the other side to make the head turn. He can simply be in the middle with the runners.
In a team with someone skipping specials you also don't want to hit the melee hand if it's up as the melee tank. Getting cripples makes the fight slower and you'll lose time switching back to mage gear. You really just want to spec -> kill mage hand -> kill melee hand, no matter what role you are. Only on the final phase does the melee tank hit the melee hand until it's low enough.
39:24 I know you just trying to help but you could at least give Dak credit for the things he got right. You said he didn't mention that every axe is equal but here he is mentioning that every axe is equal and you dont have to bring the daxe
our team has a really pro melee hand and he gets a lot of damage on the melee hand before we get done with mage hand. That means we're on the melee hand for less time, which is where we take our most damage (since you're not running the head anymore once the whole team is on the melee hand). Telling the melee hand not to bother doing any melee damage because the hand cripples is bad advice. If youre super slow at switching your gear, maybe there's the problem but the more damage the melee guy does before we all head over there, the less damage we take during the Olm fight

I have a question from phase 3 olm. Can you purposely fail killing both hands at once to get more points killing them again?
You don't get any points on a hand that is reset :(

Great guide for beginners, but I'm sorry if u show up with a bone dagger and obby shield... lol. Should've just cut those out haha. If u have a tent whip u should definitely have dragon defender and bgs at least is typically mandatory (i think arclight might even be better for irons w out a bgs/dwh)
As a learner, what is and isn't mandatory really comes down to the people that are taking you more than anything else. If you have all the other stuff you need, but only a bone dagger for a spec wep, then you could still get a couple raids done with a good team. And if anything, it will be more motivating to go out and get the new item.
I would rather go 1 below the bare minimum item, than potentially not give enough info. It's not like I talked about the obby shield and bone dagger for more then 4-5 second either, so I don't see the problem mentioning that they work

I prefer the blessed d'hide. Not only some prayer bonus, but you it doesn't degrade so it costs you less in the long run. They're pretty similar stats overall though, so the decision of Karil's or D'hide will not make or break your run
When it comes to scouting the steam client will tell you the full layout everytime no unknowns

bank 27 gold, put 27 gold in, bank 27 gold, put it in, pick load up and when it says you picked up 27 gold bars in your chat window equip gold gauntlets you get the double xp and you can imdietly re equip ice gloves no wait ad belt for exp drop only draw back is you have 26 double xp and 1 single evry inventory

On Olm's hand for sure. It's weak to stab. As for anywhere else in the raid, I'm not 100% sure where it outranks the tentacle, but I assume it always does

I'm a ranged tank. Got 75 att and str, 91 def, 97 range, 93 hp. Is this doable for me? And I'm an ironman who does not have any of your recommended 3 weapons XD
It is doable definitely. If you try to solo right away, it will likely be difficult (Soloing is tough to get started even with maxxed stuff imo) but it's still doable as a solo venture, and you'll be pretty solid if you're on a team of like 3-5

I have only ever been carried through Chambers once, and that's it. This raid is so ridiculously complicated with the amount of mechanics that are on Olm, and even some on the sub-bosses. I absolutely hate how hard and stressful it is to fight Olm. There's a reason I stay away from this kind of content. It's just too complicated. It is completely beyond me from learning every mechanic. How people do this raid is some wizardry I will never attain.
Do something else then. Lots of players love this content
