I just came back from a ride om my 93 Harley Heritage and noticed that my speedometer wasn't working. I checked out where the cable went and noticed that exact same thing is what is wrong with mine. Yours is the first video i watched and it was exactly what I needed to know. Thanks so much for your video. Just fixed mine Saturday and did as you said. Worked great. Thanks

Thanks for the heads-up about how the cable threads on and off.
Just lost my speedo/odo function this past weekend, tearing into it this weekend and I think you just saved me some frustration 👍

How do you retro fit a 2003 spoke wheel with a bigger ID rotor and still keep the speed sensor? New recessed bearings and bigger speed sensor?

My bike is even older - 82 XLH iron head sportster. Speedometer needle erratic. Pulled out the cable and put some light oil down the shaft but it began slowly leaking out the gear on the wheel axle. I don't know a fix other than replacing the gear if I can find one.

I have a 2000 Heritage Classic and just replaced the VSS(speed sensor). Still no soeedometer or digital odometer. Engine light on. It does work at starting and stopping but not at higher speeds. Is there something under the dashboard or speedometer that may be malfuctioning electronically?

Is it possible to get in touch with you? I am working on my shadow 750 and I find your video tutorials to the point, simple and easy to understand. I need a bit of professional guidance. Thanks

This video seemed to really help me until I put the drive and wheel back on. However the drive housing is trying to turn with the wheel also pulling the cable to almost wrap around the axle. Any thoughts. As far as over tightening which was my first thought. I used a torque wrench at 52 ft lbs. and then just to check I loosened the axle nut to finger tight. Still doing the same thing.

The speedo drive also function as a wheel spacer. When your wheel is tight the outer body or the speedo drive and the rotating part CAN NOT be slammed against the side of the wheel...only the inner( SPACER) part of the speedo drive will be tight against the bearing inside the wheel. You can check this and if I am right you need to first inspect the bearings for any issues, if everything is fine you can add spacer between the bearing and the speedo drive...keep in mind the wheel needs to be centered in the forks or locate the correct speedo drive with slightly wider inner spacer...I don't know your bike and the history of it but with older Harleys or custom bikes this might of been error from someone long time ago. Let me know how it goes with your repair...thanks for your interest and please subscribe to help me out,,,
