And poor first prince. He was a good child.. but his terrible childhood, devoid of love and care made him like this. He was bullied harshly as a child with no one to protect him. Finally Xian Fei took him in and protected him but that too was short when she was framed and sent away.
I rewatched this scene, at the funeral, and only focused on Hailans face to watch the shock turn into a silent rage. It’s then you know the brilliant and loyal Hailan is about the fuck a bitch up
Hailan would've made for an amazing Empress. I love Ruyi and I think she was an excellent Empress, but Hailan was taught by her, and the student ended up being able to surpass the teacher in many ways. Hailan was not afraid to take many risks, and knew how to be subtle and take advantage of the fact that people thought she was meek and soft. Hailan managed to get rid of many bad people within the harem, and I think her intellect and risk-taking ability would've been very suitable for being Empress. I also think that she would've been more emotionally capable of dealing with the Emperor because she wasn't as close as Ruyi was to him, so whenever he had outbursts or questioned her, she could stay strong and stand up to him without him ending up too angry. Who knows, maybe if Hailan were empress, she could've "accidentally" become widowed and not have to deal with the Emperor again, making her a lone empress who could sit more comfortably at the head of power. Sun would be shining everyday in the Forbidden City with Hailan as ruler lmao. I just love Hailan, she's definitely my favorite character.
