This album is pop perfection, she changed the music industry forever and lana made the alternative genre commercial without her many artists today would not be successful!! i hate when some Lana fans they call You Basic because is one of My fav albums of her
Dark Paradise is a song about her ex boyfriend who sadly died When she sings “But I wish I was dead (dead like you)” - she really means being dead like he is
Its still so crazy how lana’s songs continues to evolve after born to die, and her vocals change a lot too kinda. My favorite song on here has to be national anthem. But overall my favorite albums of hers are Ultraviolence and NFR
Lolita is actually a very underrated song in the fandom - a lot of people hate it because it’s ‘too pop’. Personally it’s one of my favourites, I think the hip hop/pop genre works so amazingly with Lana’s vintage voice
It’s not nearly my fav but it holds a special place bc it’s very much like her unreleased music vybez and I’m honestly hoping she regresses to those unreleased times. It was so experimental.
I really like the "hey hey" "louder" samples in this whole album 😍😍😭😭, Lolita and Carmen are about the homonyms characters from Lolita movie or book idk
My faves are Born to Die, Off to the Races, Blue Jeans, Carmen, and Dark Paradise. But its a no-skip album for me too. She constantly blows my mind and is one of the very few artists who makes me feel and understand myself. She is the Queen and she is amazing. Much love 💘, Bird 🐦
My favorites are "off to the races", "national anthem", "blue jeans" and "million dollar man". The whole album is criminally amazing ❤️. A classic in my book.
You're reaction to these songs are me every single time, I love it! Some fun facts (though some might be wrong, I'm pulling these from memory) : -Lolita and Off to the Races are based of the book Lolita, and "Light of my life, fire of my loins" are the first sentences in the book I believe -The video for Video Games was made by Lana herself -Summertime Sadness is most likely about a lover passing or away or leaving, because the woman in the video is referred to as "Lana's Girlfriend" or just "girlfriend" (they are close friends in real life too!) -The song Radio is more sarcastic than uplifting, I believe, saying she got to where she wanted but it wasn't as nice as she thought. After all, cinnamon is not sweet and yet she claims her life is as sweet as it is.
omg i loved ur reaction i watched every minute of ur video❣️ yes, summertime sadness is about losing a friend who committed suicide, which u can kinda see in the video Lemon (lol) jumping off the bridge :( lana and jamie king were actually really good friend. in this is what makes us girls’ bridge, the people who pulled lana away from her friends are her parents, they sent her to boarding school because she had drinking problems, there her uncle taught her some guitar and that’s when she started writing songs. i can’t wait for ur paradise reaction (don’t forget to include her short film Tropico which is basically a music video for 3 songs from paradise) 💕
I was waiting for someone to comment actual info about Lanas life portrayed in the album!! Idk how to involve tropico in the reaction cus I typically like to go in order to the tracklist 😭 maybe ill film a separate vid for tropico
Thanks for your review! Just wanted to note that although she adopted a stage name (and had played around with other stage names prior to settling on LDR), she didn't actually suddenly just change up her music style overnight like many think. If you listen to her unreleased music, it becomes clear that she has always been experimental but she has a clear sonic vision as well as consistent thematic interests. I really recommend checking out some of her better unreleased music like Every Man Gets His Wish, Fine China, Hollywood, Velvet Crowbar, Yes To Heaven, Serene Queen, Wild One, Your Girl, etc
Also want to add for your context for This is What Makes Us Girls, Lana gets separated from her friends when her parents sent her to a boarding school as punishment and to treat her alcoholism.
Video games is defs my fav song. And so nostalgia as it was the first song I ever heard of hers. I can remember that being the only CD we had in the car
I loved your analysis and reaction to BTD ! It was very spot on and so fun, i can’t wait for the Paradise EP reaction ! also please go through order 😁 Thank You !
Love it. Born to die actually is not Lana's first album. Her first album is Lana del Ray aka Lizzy Grant. I would like to see you reacting to this. It is great
Im happy you’re doing Lana Del Rey week! Cant wait to see your reaction to Ultraviolence (my fav Lana project)!! Would you ever do a Charli XCX week by any chance?
@@meyechelangelo lmaooo yeah we go hard for our girl charli! I think it would be cool to see you react to her musical evolution bc if there has ever been a musical evolution more drastic, it would definitely be hers lmaoooo
**i think/i see** the summertime sadness music video shows two lovers/friends ending their lives. lana was first, and because of that, her lover/friend did the same, probably because of grief. there was some rumors that it's about her closest friend who ended her life, but was debunked.
Hi, you're cute i like you reactions, i'm a stan it's so cool to see new people enjoying it 😊 She says "i got my red dress on tonight" in Summertime Sadness and it's the other girl who's in a red dress. I heard she's singing in the shoes of a girl friend (or more than friend) that commited suicide when they were teenager. Maybe This is what makes us girls bridge is about that event too.
You should react to FKA Twigs, idk if you're a fan of experimental music but she's truly one of a kind artist so please consider doing it. She completely changed my perception of music.
Yes!! But after this music journey you need to do Michael Jackson's music cause it's just 😍😍😍 from like the off the wall album to the invincible album!! He is so amazing and he has so many bops and amazing messages in his songs that I know you will love, sorry for being so persistent but like it's because I know you will love doing it
Loved your reaction and your interpretation! Funny side comment. Idek if you have siblings living with you or what not. “New subscriber” but I live alone, so the whole time I was freaking out pulling out my headphones thinking somebody was in my apartment 😅😂. Took me until dark paradise to realize this lol

It’s so good idk why people hate it
People hate it because it talks abt a book called lolita that is involved with many problematics. You should search a little abt it
That is literally me when Lolita comes on
She really posessed me 😂😭
RELATABLE AF
Lolita is probably the only Lana song I don’t like lol, it makes me mad uncomfortable
I really like the "hey hey" "louder" samples in this whole album 😍😍😭😭, Lolita and Carmen are about the homonyms characters from Lolita movie or book idk
I loveeeeed those little adlibs ! They make such a huge different !
Off to the Races is also Lolita - the line “Light of my life, fire of my loins” is from the first line of the book
