- In this episode, I say goodbye to Ahmed and continue my journey through Mauritania on my own. I am trying to make my way to the border with Senegal through a remote route through inland Mauritania, but the route is filled with challenges.

Ahmed is a true gentleman and was so proud to show you his country. Such ambassadors are priceless in such a crazy world.
we suspect he was well paid
@@alexshatzko1381 nontheless still a good ambassador.
That journey would have been a suicide mission without Ahmed. The blessed r always led in the right direction by other mysteriously sent blessed people. This ride ur on is mind blowing. Waiting for ur next video. Stay safe & healthy.
Don't be inocent. There are lots of people there to be like a tourist guide. Just snap your fingers and pay..
It was a blessing she med Ahmed who gave his number to her in case she needed help!!
Noraly, you are not alone. There are over a million faithful followers with you and Alaska wherever you go. We may not be physically riding with you, but we are with you in spirit, watching you, learning and discovering new places, and amazing cultures. May your journey always be safe, and I pray God will always put kind-hearted and wonderful people on your path. Stay safe.❤
Sorry for your sick! Try to kill the cancer, eat healthy and stop sugar, carbohydrates and bad oil. Eat vegetables, drink good water, do some exercises may god help you to feel better.
Still 'riding' along with you. What a challenge...rocks, sand and endless vistas.Perseverance through it all.Stay safe.
And just knowing you have emergency tracker for your safety is a blessing

I found Itchy Boots completely by accident. My lucky day. I have been watching Series 7 and am hooked. What wonderful scenery and film making. Noraly you have an infectious personality and engage positively with everyone you meet on your travels. Thank you Noraly I will never be bored watching your adventures. I would love to be travelling like you are but I realise my limitations!! Many years ago I spent months in West Africa and your films evoke so many nice memories for me.
I honestly haven’t seen someone as brave as this kind lady.. always smiling even when it’s raining or stuck in the desert . Keep going
Gregg McCahon Cycling is another one and Matjin Dolaad is another baddass
Most people have only seen Northern Africa as sandy desert, you are showing us the diversity raw terrain we’ve never seen before, it’s so amazing!
Yep 👍 it’s difficult on hot Sun ☀️, recently saw two guys doing same in Australia.. cherry vlogs , these guys are out of the world 🌍.. keep going
Yes, who could have imagined the terrain of the Sahara that Noraly had shared with us! In my minds view, it was just one vast sand pit until now!
Farewell to Ahmed, such a good man.
Noraly’s narrative and videography have the ability to inspire awe and bring tears simultaneously.
Very few channels have that ability. ❤
Very well said. Yes I am humble enough to admit she often brings tears. Truly an amazing Wonder Woman
Noraly’s ability to create videos that are educational, entertaining, and informative are all part of why she has such a great following!
Ahmed was the best guide I think you could have ever had, what a gentlemen and what a beautiful country he is blessed to live in.
I loved the drone shots of the collapsed roads, the power of the sands is quite astonishing and then to see those oasis with green fields and trees was awesome.
You are a good soul Noraly. When you see a nearly barren landscape, you look in awe at its vast and tremendous beauty. You treat people and animals respectfully. That is why you attract good people to support you on your many travels. Thank you for sharing the journey with us. Farewell to Ahmed ❤
When Noraly went to check the swallowed road, she looked like an astronaut on Mars! What a sight!
Hahaha, I thought the same thing! Noraly in her space suit. 😊
@@jamesstevens2362
Same here.... She looked ready for Scotty to beam her up.... 😂😂
Well, there is a future ride.
Ahmed may well never know that there are thousands around the world who are grateful to him for all that he did to help Noraly with her adventure. But man, what a legend! Thanks for making it possible! 🙏🏻
He probably has cell service bro 😂
Norlay's riding technique for charging soft sand over the road is getting very refined. A moto confident lass.
Noraly had definitely become more skilled and confident as a rider!
Your drone footage is consistently impressive. It probably helps that you're taking it in impressive terrain but to juggle editing it with getting dinner and finding accommodation and all the other things you have to do, is mind-boggling.
The mauritanian adventure has shown us how beautiful the landscapes are & how kind the people are in this country & truly shown us we don't need much to be happy
I told my wife exactly that...she said husband shut it and do the hoovering 😂😂😂
Nothing beautiful about the landscape, it's just sand everywhere. It do shows some human resilience and resourcefulness tho
@@bertyaustin Yeah so because it's "just sand everywhere" it isn't beautiful ? The palm-fringed oases, the sand dunes, the stony plateaus, the rock formations/outcrops, the exotic yet rare plants, the grandeur of the scenery, the crystal clear skies... honestly I find that incredible and spectacular!
@@bertyaustin The landscape is beautiful... during a few days. After that, you begin to hate sand and are eager to see some grass and trees again !
@@tpactionreplay If planet Earth ever needs an enema, this shows us where to stick the nozzle !
It’s weird how i am exploring my country in youtube by a dutch tourist
Thank you so much noraly you went and showed me places I’ve never been to ❤️
I feel the same way. It’s unbelievable
Please , what is the name of Oasis? I could not find it in a map, I found the cities though, youe country is beautiful :)
That is an issue with Africans. We don't explore our own country due to a lack of money and infrastructure. Sad, really.
Ahmed’s personality and genuine character is the kind of encounter with other human beings that always has me smiling from the inside out. Being paid for the incredible job he did as a guide does not take away from his sparkling and clear-eyed humanness for all who he meets. Noraly, my core muscles were sore just watching you guide Alaska repeatedly through the sand dunes. The places you go and show us are the places I would most love to see when traveling. I am often left with something to think about by the end of each of your videos. Today it was the unrelenting nature of sand which can swallow up so much as it travels across the shifting landscape. The rhythm of desert sand is something I have never experienced but you have given me a glimpse of its nature. Just gorgeous… and a tiny bit terrifying. Thank you!
Such a beautiful country! Thank you Noraly for letting us travel with you. We love your videos. Truly amazing!!
At the end of each episode Noraly asks: "Did you like this video? The answer is:" YES!!!" Seeing these extraordinary landscapes and emptiness ... in fact the desert has its charm. A huge thanks to Noraly and her courage!👍👍👍
A special thanks to Ahmed for his hospitality! Thanks for your guidance and showing us some of the gems of your country. Thank you.
These aerial takes of the desert leave me in awe with so much beauty. Its like I`m flying with the eagles and He is showing me all He has done❤🙏Stay safe Noraly❤😃
Gotta love that this woman who nervously set out on a bike on a dusty road in India those few years ago is a better, more skilled, more confident rider than 99% of us life long bikers... Well done Noraly!!! You absolutely deserve ALL and ANY accreditation you receive 😊😊😊
One of the best if not the best travel-adventure video series ever IMHO.
Definitely! 💯
Never thought I would ever see a roundabout in the middle of the desert 😂
Indeed, and when it was constructed they also put some greenery in it…
That was priceless 😂
well, marketdays can bring heavy traffic
I thought it was interesting that she actually went around it. I wonder how strictly people stick to that, and go around rather than taking the shorter path. Traffic circles are not uncommon where I live, and still people struggle with them sometimes.
@@youme1414 i don't think they meant the literal geographic center of the Sahara. It's a figure of speech like "the middle of nowhere."
Oh yes, riding on tarmac that disappeared into the earth or was covered by sand dunes. Just a boring road ride! HA! Beautiful oases, amazing stretches of water, real water! And COOL! Thanks for another great ride!
Норали , у меня нет слов! Вы - очень смелая и отважная женщина !!!
Those little green oasis’s are always a surprise. Water equals life. Mauritania really seems like a hidden gem of Africa for adventure riders.
Africa has a lot of unseen wilderness to travel at and Mauritania is actually among the more popular and accessible of these hidden African gems.
Your videography skills Noraly are so entertaining and professional. Your willingness to take time to create a drone shot and your music selection are so impressive. Thanks for the world tour!
I think she could do a compilation video of drone shots and it would be nominated for an Academy Award
@@caperrob1662 Amen!!

'The sand doesn't care.' These were the Tarmac Dunes. The drones shots really said it all. Alaska growled her way through the dunes. She said, don't let my name fool you.... I can take the heat.

Yeah, really puts a few potholes into perspective, doesn’t it? 😂
The unrelenting slow advance of the sand is both amazing and terrifying at the same time.....as you said, the sand does not care what it covers....but the people remain undeterred and manage to survive despite Nature !!! Another great episode Noraly !!!
موريتانيا حقا رائعة ❤🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦
As with so many other following you, I stumbled onto Itchy Boots by accident. I'm enthralled by it, and this trip to Mauritania is especially captivating because our daughter served in the Peace Corps (Moudjeria--sort of near Tidjikja and eight hours from Nouakchott by "bush" taxi) for two years. We visited for a couple weeks--getting the full experience of a road disappearing completely in a sandstorm. We also ended up with the dog our daughter adopted while there. You're one fantastic human being Noraly. Thank you! it's time to get back to the video...
Now that you’re loaded again, the sand is not your friend, but as always, you persevere and show us another example of your unstoppable spirit. Another great video. 👍
The flooding that destroyed the roads found a low spot. To see all that water, in the dunes, was amazing. Beautiful. Be well, stay safe.
Its real water? or Fatamorgana? lets check😍🤗👍👍👍👍
It could of been the wind. I have spent the nite in dunes with strong wind and my truck tires would keep sinking as the wind blew sand from around them
Wasn't too long ago in Morocco when it was raining pretty good...possibly they got some too. Crazy to see how just a little water can do so much damage?
Reminds me of the so called mud floods...
Du meisterst und bewältigst jede Herausforderung die sich dir stellt..... und erlebst dadurch, ein riesiges und einmaliges Abenteuer. Ich wünsche dir weiterhin viel Kraft und Spass auf deiner tollen Reise.
The wonders of nature in a single video, seeing such large oasis with lagoons in the middle of the desert, is incredible, once again thank you Noraly for everything you give us on your travels.
I think this was the episode where finally my respect for the extent of your adventure hit 100%. You are amazing.
I don't have to go on vacation, Noraly is showing me the world!
Watching on a screen is good pero watching with eye in real is totally differently great...
That looked like hard work! You obviously could not get up to any real speed on that tarmac/sand road. Thanks for taking up the drone and showing us how beautiful the oasis was.
Bucketfuls of courage, huge physical and mental resilience, a true fascination with this world and strong empathy with all its living creatures - if only mankind had even 1% of this girl's virtues, our problems would be over.
Travel, cuisine, history, geography, documentary, adventure, action, comedy, you name it, this channel has it all. Thanks Noraly!!!
A thank you to Ahmed, as a Father of 2 girls in there 30's I respect you so much for what you did for Noraly I am sure her father agrees with me, and you drive the same truck I do mine is a 93 Petrol. Stay Safe Noraly! I wanted to touch that water too and then you were like, I need to make sure it's real. 🙂 Beautiful views every Video this is a must watch series for anyone who finds it go watch them all.
I love how you enjoy saying Mahairith!. You really have gotten that throat HHHaa down to perfection. Great to see you overcome your daily challenges with patience and perseverance. Due to the lack of streetlighting you should be able to see the stars in Mauritania so clearly. By a peaceful campfire its unreal. Stay safe Noraly and to Ahmad, "Shokran katheeran, Tilka Bil Aaafiya" for looking after our little sister
I mentioned before, I am amazed how clean the streets and the houses are, not a single piece of trash, no plastic, no greasy papers,
of cause the sand and soil and rocks but no pollution
It feels like a post apocalyptic Mad Max scenery: the tarmac roads being swallowed by the desert. A very special feature in these episodes is the color. I really love the contrast between the sky and the sand, the different browns and the greens when there is enough water to make things grow. Noraly deserves an award for making such good content! - ...And the Oscar for best CZcamsr goes to...
ITCHY BOOTS!
I hope some will notice but just in case, I would like to draw attention to something. At timestamp 14:06 "And here comes, suddenly, a green valley. Wow! It's amazing." A few moments later at 14:14 is the reason why that valley is green and everywhere else is shifting sand, filling up river bottoms, causing the river to flow over and destroy a new paved road. Pause the vid at 14:14. You see the road, and parallel to that you see a row of rocks, then a strip of sand, then a strip of green. That is the first grass I have seen in any of Noraly's vids of Mauritania. Why is grass only in this valley? I normally watch videos at low resolution so it doesnt use so much data but when something is interesting I turn it to higher resolution to see details better, and I use a pc with about 14 in screen so if you are watching on a smaller device you may not be able to see it but the division between green grass and bare sand is a barbed wire fence. That whole region, from Mali to Kenya to Cairo to Fez used to be grasslands, capable of producing vast quantities of wheat and cattle creating several of the richest nations ever to exist and now it really isnt livable at all, but there are still enough trying to by the same means that made a desert out of it in the first place that it cannot recover. The problem is, if you strip ALL the grass off, the sand starts blowing around and it's all downhill from there. You have to move your herd long before the grass is so sparse it cannot reseed for next year. Somebody put up a fence, they keep it in good repair and challenge anyone who comes along with a herd, nope you are not grazing this spot bare, there is the fence row! The one who put up the fence, pays attention to how much grazing that pasture can tolerate and moves the herd off when it is time, is relatively rich, the one outside the fence is about as poor as a person can get. Half a continent can be recovered if everybody did like the guy who put up a fence. You dont need the fence though, just move your herd when it is time. And when you do have a herd on a pasture, defend a patch to not let them eat it at all, it will make seeds that will scatter all around that small preserved spot. Wont do any good though if your cousin comes along with his herd 3 days later and strips it bare anyway. One of the oldest causes for war among humans. One of the most valuable aspects of law ever invented was defined property lines to prevent a small fraction of humans from wiping out life sustainance for everyone around them from ignorance, stupidity and/or greed. Ignorance can be cured with a good story, a book, or by example. Stupidity is not so easy to overcome, it requires leadership and sometimes firm admonishment. Greed is the worst especially when combined with laziness and apathy.
I hope you take notice, have an epiphany of the root cause of so much poverty and suffering in this world, and spread the word that much of it is because of eating the last seed and having nothing from there on.
So overgrazing.
Laserflexr Well said and very true. Thanks for putting that out there.
@@oklahomahank2378 Yep, pretty simple to see if you have ever been around domestic herds. and going by your screen name I'm gonna assume you are in, or at least from, Oklahoma. A place that learned the lesson the hard way about stripping a place bare that by reason of it's seasons, especially the rainy ones and the not rainy ones, is particularly liable to desertification. That is why it was savannah grasslands in the first place. When left to nature the herds of Bison played a role in fertilizing and mowing those grasslands to keep them dynamic. Wolves, Coyote, Puma and other predators like human populations who payed attention to the other life around them kept the herds moving so they didnt create completely bare regions, and removed the sick ones and it all found balance. Other people came along that were some combination of stupid, ignorant or greedy and created a desert by not paying attention. They DID learn the lesson. Hundreds of thousands of farm ponds slow down and capture the otherwise flooding rains when they finally did come, keeping it around longer to increase the variety and numbers of plants that can make it long enough to produce seeds, and eventually keep enough groundwater around so bigger, shade baring, soil holding, water respirating trees can survive until the next rainy season. Contouring and terraces, combined with protected green belts that were off limits to farming and grazing. All of this stuff is well documented and proven to work. But how do you convince people they and their kids will be better off if they do it? And even if you win them over by reason and example, how do you get them to do it? Just imagine, if you could snap your fingers and all that manmade desert was back to balance, how much higher the income would be for those that live there....
@@laserflexr6321 Yes, we learned that the hard way. Partly people were deceived by a short term rainy weather pattern, and of course industrial farming and land hunger played a role. Are you familiar with the book “The Tragedy of the Commons”? When no one has an incentive to protect the land everyone thinks short term and ruins it. As the land here became barren the temperature rose. The hottest years in our history are still 1915-1938.
OK, but such is life. Carry on my wayward compodra.
Interesting to see how the sand consumes the roads and towns. I guess people just adapt to the challenges and do the best that they can. I appreciate the time you took to show drone footage. Always much appreciated.
Interesting how floods have destroyed the roads!

just a little word to say thank you, Noraly. I got into your videos first time with this season and the trip through Morocco. enjoyed it so much.. and now not only I'm following every video upload but you got me hooked on the concept as a whole. Another wonderful video from our favorite world traveler. I was in Mauritania years ago in the capital city. We were told about the windy season when massive sandstorms would arrive from the desert. Main roads in the city would be blocked and sand was in everything. I happy Noraly and her companion Alaska have not experienced a no visibility sandstorm. If they did she’d handle it fine I’m sure!
Fascinating! Your drone shots are AMAZING!
8:31. The expression 'Building on shifting sands' springs to mind. Nature clearly had other ideas :).
The African route is just spectacular. Noraly your the best CZcamsr.

Wow, the sand and wind are an undeniable force. Riding on tarmac dunes was a different thing lol. I could almost feel the drop in temperatures when you were riding through the palm lines streets. I think that’s the biggest herd (if that’s what it’s called) of camels Ive seen so far. Beautiful water in the middle of nowhere was a surprise, for sure. Great video and music, Noraly.

The moving sand over the road demonstrates how places have disappeared in African desert and still do!
