Which Mustang is best for a Daytona Track Day? The GT350R or GT500?

- An open track day at the Daytona Speedway Rolex 24 Hour road course in which to showcase two great modern track day machines, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R and GT500. Both are well-suited to the task, but go about getting around the 3.56 circuit somewhat differently. Which is better? You be the judge.

Great video! I would take the gt350r all day... The 500 just weighs too much and on most tracks the 350 will be faster! Since it is Daytona I can see where the 500 can exploit the extra power. In terms of breaking, turning, and change of directions it's hard to sacrifice the waste the weight disadvantage
Both cars are great....you are a better driver than the person in the Orange GT500.....your lines were much better! I have a GT350 and and best lap time with it was a 2:03 at Daytona. I am bringing my GT500 to Daytona later this year and suspect I will be in the 1:50's....regardless, enjoyed the video!!!!
The one you have the key to
the R in braking zones & corners but could be driver dependent tho it has a tighter/better line. 500 more careful putting power down. let's c R drive try the 500...
The R has the better driver but the 500 is clearly faster. The R brakes wonderfully and if it had a centrifugal blower (like mine does......lol to keep it balanced) might crush the 500.

I hope the guy in the orange Mustang is your friend and you agreed not to pass him! Camera car's lines are on point.

I'd take the R, nothing beats the VooDoo sound. GT500 is a beast but loves to guzzle the fuel. Would have liked to see the 2 Stangs battle it out with the ZL1 at 9:45.
Swap drivers and the 500 would have been gone. And rather than attempting to cover all the performance categories with the GT500, Ford should have ignored Dodges 1/4-mile dominance, and adhered to their class of dominance, by built the GT500R as a track car.
