A hot lap at Sebring in 2:31 (with a passenger) in 2018 Mustang GT350R. Weight of car wet with no occupants is 3720 lbs. With 2 occupants is pushing 4100 lbs. Lap times without a passenger are in 1-2 seconds quicker. More fun with one though.

Nice video. Just came across your channel and you have been doing this with the R for a long time. Any reliability issues with the car in your experience?
Great car but would def recommend getting the longest extended warranty budget allows. Also make sure your local dealer service dept. is a good one. Mine was brilliant and therefore, I really enjoyed the car to it's fullest.

the answer to the question is, yes.
Swap drivers and the 500 would have been gone. And rather than attempting to cover all the performance categories with the GT500, Ford should have ignored Dodges 1/4-mile dominance, and adhered to their class of dominance, by built the GT500R as a track car.
That's the difference between a stupid paddle and a manual plus those downshifts 🤤♥️
I'd take the R, nothing beats the VooDoo sound. GT500 is a beast but loves to guzzle the fuel. Would have liked to see the 2 Stangs battle it out with the ZL1 at 9:45.

How do you heel toe this thing? My brake pedal has a rolled edge and the gas pedal is so far back I can't manage smooth brake pressure while blipping for my downshifts in my 2017 gt350.
I installed accelerator pedal spacers to get it more level with the brake pedal. I also went with the xineering auto blip, which is really the way to go. czcams.com/video/EKGBrijjPVA/video.html

Both cars are great....you are a better driver than the person in the Orange GT500.....your lines were much better! I have a GT350 and and best lap time with it was a 2:03 at Daytona. I am bringing my GT500 to Daytona later this year and suspect I will be in the 1:50's....regardless, enjoyed the video!!!!
Great video! I would take the gt350r all day... The 500 just weighs too much and on most tracks the 350 will be faster! Since it is Daytona I can see where the 500 can exploit the extra power. In terms of breaking, turning, and change of directions it's hard to sacrifice the waste the weight disadvantage

The R has the better driver but the 500 is clearly faster. The R brakes wonderfully and if it had a centrifugal blower (like mine does......lol to keep it balanced) might crush the 500.
the R in braking zones & corners but could be driver dependent tho it has a tighter/better line. 500 more careful putting power down. let's c R drive try the 500...

yeah, about that... had a malfunction of my track addict app lap timer - so 'dunno'. That being said, got to dinner that night at a local restaurant and my stomach said "negative".

Car has a lot more left in it. You’re losing a lot of time coasting into corners before braking. Also you’re short shifting throughout the entire track. Bishops bend you shouldn’t unload the car like that, should be at least taking that turn at 110-120 mph. Other then that the car sounds fantasic

I’m thinking of doing this event this year. Any thing a newbie at Daytona should know? Besides the obvious aero stuff haha. Did you see certain tires wearing more than others? How was tire wear the three days? Are spectators allowed to walk anywhere around the track? I’d love for a friend of mine to go and record footage and get pics. Thanks!
Was my first time as well so had those questions and more. Most all others were glad to assist, but many had differing opinions. The summary is that Daytona is hard on engines and easier on tires than most places. That being said, be sure your tires are in really good condition as the down force generated in the oval is immense and puts extraordinary pressure on the tires. Overall, the wear was actually negligible, but so glad I had new cup 2's on. Differing opinions on tire pressure as well. I ran cold 28 around with 31 in right rear. Also, better to run mid to upper in the oval as exerts less stress on the vehicle and can carry more speed than if in the lower portion. I reached 177 in nascar 4, mainly when I was higher up towards the 'white bush'. Spectators are allowed, just have them tell they are with you and will get a wrist band and can wander about in most all places to get video and photos. Is definitely a higher horsepower playground as the momentum cars don't have nearly as much fun there.
