Cell Phone Store Owner Lets Would-Be Robber Go Free

- Owners of this store in England let an attempted robber go free. Surveillance video caught what looked like a customer browsing through The Phone Market, a cell phone store in West Yorkshire, UK. After getting two phones in his hand to compare, the hooded man makes a run for the door, only to find out that it’s locked from the inside. The shop owner Afzal Adam not only let the suspect go without calling police, he posted the video to Twitter asking the almost-robber to come back for help.
I applaud this man for staying true to his beliefs.
Update: wow, the reaction is crazy but I welcome it. OK, so I need to clarify some details:
1) I know that there is a difference between "religious morals" and "personal morals."
2) I put the message not to cause an issue, but to raise awareness on faith vs. hypocrisy.
3) It is meant to be a simple message of encouragement to everyone, including myself.

I had a professor like this. He told us from the start of the class, no matter what the reason is on why we can’t turn in our assignments on time, just talk to him and he’ll work something out. Man had time for everyone. But there were still students failing. Shamefully, I was one of those students. One day he pulled me to the side because I had quite a few incomplete assignments, and told me I was in danger of failing the class. I didn’t ask him for any second chances. Instead, he told me he was willing to let me slide if I buckle down and start completing my work on time. Even then, I continued to take advantage of this generous man, and would turn in my assignments extremely late. But he’d still accept it, and still took the time to give me an honest grade. To this day I feel horrible for taking advantage of his generosity. But I learned to be understanding because of him, I learned to give people the benefit of the doubt and to never judge. He wasn’t dumb, he knew there were kids taking advantage of him. He just truly wanted us to be the best versions of ourselves.
😢 beautiful
Did you contact him to apologise and thank him for what he did for you?

Lmaoo, the way he ran and put his everything into trying to open the door. I would have felt so embarrassed after that and the way he just stood there watching him. It’s great that he’s having compassion. It’s hard out here for many people but it’s also hard for the people you’re stealing from
And he didn't say anything about "hard times", just that his friends put him up to it...
To assume the theft was about putting food on the table is incredibly naive.

When I was little I use to be somewhat feared of Muslims just because of where I grew up and all the bad reputation they seemed to have in my area, but as I grew up I realized there isn’t a thing to be scared of or judge to them, it’s their religion and about a month ago I was in Morocco for 5 days and although it doesn’t sound long enough, I met such nice people and learned so much about their religion and I’m so thankful they exist. I’ll never forget how good of an experience it was there. Never judge from others experiences or words
I am so glad you experienced it! Stay blessed and happy!
Welcome anytime to Morocco
Thank you for sharing. ❤
You must’ve grown in a Christian or catholic place lol. I thought the same because where I grew up my family was super Christian and to this day treat Muslims like they would stab you the second you make eye contact. But I grew up and met many of them and I no longer believe in any faith because all it does is divide people and segregate society.
That what racists do teach lies about another race learn people first.
Now that's the definition of empathy in its rarest form
The shop owner is one of kind. Sadly, we rarely see the compassion he showed to the robber because when you extend goodwill to people, some people take advantage of it
i think we should rarely see these people, cuz if there were more nice owners thered be even more advantages being taken
Beware the hands you lift, some take you down with them, others get up but throw you down
If u believing there is Allah SWT.. then nothing to be afraid of. The owner shows that he not afraid of anything accept Allah SWT. The percentage that he will be died if the robber bring with him a gun.. but it's not happening.. cuz Allah SWT knows best n protect this kind shop owner. Subahanallah.
The shop owner has a good soul. I would have called The Gimp.
It's Islam
I really hope the attempted robber remembers this for the rest of his life, and realizes that not everyone gets a second chance. That store owner could have easily had him arrested, and ruined the robbers life forever. But his compassion is bigger than anything else. Maybe the attempted robber will learn that your friends don't always know better and will sell you up the river in a heart beat
But I will say his embarrassment when he realized the door was locked was hilarious lol

One of my friends actually was a thief and he was caught by the person he was stealing from, only for that person to forgive him as well, similar to what we saw in this video... and after many weeks, my friend totally changed his life... he is now an honest man, works hard, is totally independent, and has befriended the man he tried to steal money from... had the victim reported him to the police, its most likely he would have been in jail to this day, yet now, he is a happy working man that has a second chance in life...

IT'S JUST THE COLOR THEY LIKE AND RESPECT, THAT'S WHY THEY FELT SORRY FOR HIM
Something similar happened to me when I was a phone store attendant. It would be just me at 20 yrs old, working 10 hr shifts and all types of people would come in. One guy preyed on me and came in the store multiple times throughout a month. Acting as if he was scouting out a phone. Eventually he got me to let my guard down enough to where I turned my back to grab a charger he asked to look at & he grabbed the phone & ran out. We didn't have these kind of locks to stop him and it's probably good that we didn't cuz I wouldve been terrified to be locked inside with a large man like that.
I felt terrible that I had allowed myself to be conned & I paid for the phone out of pocket to not lose my job. I didn't work there for much longer though cuz I eventually realized it was too dangerous for a young girl to be alone, day & night, in that environment.
If he had kept him there until the police arrived, police would have charged the owner for imprisonment of the thief. That's British justice system
No legally it would be classified as a citizens arrest.

Omg positive stuff like this is so rare to come by these days.
Very beautiful display of empathy, compassion and sympathy. I hope this kid doesn't squander this blessing that was bestow upon him. Find new mates ASAP
God bless the owner. He and his son showed us what it means to be forgiving, charitable and loving. After years of therapy to be patient and tolerant, I am only able to tolerate many people with whom I encounter on a daily basis. Praise God for his wisdom in allowing someone like me to witness true love and peace.
Praise allah, thank you.
I'm so grateful to be an American citizen because it's my right to have my own opinion and to voice that opinion. Praise the lord.
