Your kitchen remodel turned out fabulous - both aesthetically appealing and functional. Great job! There's nothing that makes a space feel more like a home than a wood burning stove! Hope to see you doing some cooking on the stove in future videos. Thanks for sharing!
Reason you dont have open fire like this in a car is fumes that come for fueling your car. The fumes reach the top of the duck and if its hot can start a flash back to the pump. Just be mindful to have it out before moving or fueling you rig. Nothing more to say.. you get it, your a smart girl..
+Lankster Price Indeed! It's a calculated decision and I feel super safe with my precautions. I mostly don't want to be on record saying it's safe for someone who may be less cautious ;)
Lived for fifteen years on a small wooden boat in the great northwest. It's cool and misty a lot of the time. I used a small "skippy" wood stove as my only heat and I always knew I could get fuel. Wood heat is also drying getting the damp out. Very comfortable heat'. Good video I bet a bunch of people have been wanting something like this.
Clicked on the video so fast and didn't realize it was you. Never been more excited :). Was waiting for a new video for months. Glad to see your upgrades on the bus. Helps me when it's my turn lol..
I'm glad you found a wood stove the right size for you and are being successful with it. In case you, or any of your viewers are interested in the propane option but steering clear to avoid condensation as you mentioned, there are several VENTED types of propane heaters that could be adapted to a bus/RV just as the wood stove is. IMO, one of the most attractive versions of propane is a hydronic system, which would give you some of the "autopilot" heating features that modern electronic systems offer, but with stone simplicity.

I just woke up and was notified of your new vlog release. Yayyy you finally got your sardine , and installed it! I myself have not been able to accomplish more than I just almost completely buttoned up mechanical issues with my bus project. Being a banquet Chef my spare time is something to be desired. Actually I've decided to go with the " Mini Cubic " (either "The Cub, or "The Bear")woodstove when I'm ready. Thanks for the new video. Again kudos to you on your new wood box. I'm jealous.
+Jason Olliff (Pickles) thanks! The mini cubic wasn't on the market when I ordered my sardine, but they look like a great option Glad you're getting work done on yours, even if it is slow moving!
One thought I had watching was if you build another, maybe you could put the wood stove behind the bathroom, so the heat would be more in the living area. This is why we all who build and want to build have different ideas on how to build it.
great movie. awesome rig. I have a wood stove in my Camper too. I have lived in it full time for almost 2 years, I can't even begin to think about not ever having a wood stove ever again.
Thanks so much for sharing Alison! You are a huge inspiration to me and while I may never build a tiny house on wheels (since I *love* not being a driver) I send heaps of people to your channel as inspiration for them. One day perhaps when I'm visiting PDX I can buy you a beer (or other beverage of your choice!).
Nice work.. I dig your gypsy wagon and your enthusiasm. I just bought a tiny stove. It's gonna be perfect to cozy up next to while camping with my girl.

the stove is cool girl.and one thing that caught My eye in this video is Ur "Jump Seat". that's badass.anyway.keep up the great work.be safe and keep warm ;)
Great upgrade! I have been looking for a used little woodstove, fingers crossed ! Tried my propane little buddy and couldn't believe how much water it condenses... I had water dripping off the roof !
Very nicely presented; I like your style. I live on a small cabin cruiser boat in the UK, and I enjoy watching what other people have done with their tiny homes, to get inspiration and to motivate myself to pick up the tools and do a bit more. Subscribed :)
it is good to hear how it is going and I remember in your last video you were saying how you would like some more counter space if you still do you could build a flod done counter top in to the back of the passenger seat that locks in place wen it is up good luck hope this helps
+Mitchell Bannister thanks! I originally built it with a flod counter on the side, but the width of the hardware compromised the comfortability of the passenger seat a little too much so I undid it.
Great video the enjoy my morning coffee with. Most admirable is you mind-set, a main requirement to living in small spaces, especially when doing so in urban areas.
What is the dragon on the thumbnail? Is that a Dutch oven? Where can I get that dragon? My kids love anything dragon and they would flip out for it. I clicked play because of it and never saw it. Glad I stuck around. Love your videos & your style. Please do more. We are a family of 4 wanting to do this kind of thing in a schoolie. Great job!
I found a very small wood stove for a song I think it's twice the size of yours not for sure if I'll need it or not I plan on traveling south for winters but looks awesome girl
On point with an interesting, intelligent video! Great ideas, and greater execution. Really enjoyed the cut-ins showing your hands on know how. Definately an easy subscribe! On a more personal note, you wear that smile, and that haircut, beautifully! :)
No. Snow insulates. Leave it on the roof. Just don't let it get too deep to make the roof leak. I know. I have lived in Maine all my life. My wife and I are living in a former transit bus year round now for nearly 2 years. It is 25 feet long.
cool if you put your fan down lower so it blows across the top of the stove it will put allot more heat in the back at night. I recently put a wood stove in my bus too. being propane does put out allot of moisture. I still use it at night on the colder ones, as my stove only burns for 2 hours max
That's really a cool stove!!! you think about looking into using a small stirling engine set-up to harvest some power off the stove while your using it, or the top lights can be take out in exchange for some small inverted wind turbines so that you can get some wind energy while your cruising around. I have been checking out a lot of stuff on energy and off the grid living. I saw your videos a year ago before I took on living in a 78 econoline for a year. I loved the experience and will most likely go back to it when I am able, but since i have the opportunity to think and research I have been checking out ways to harness the elements and also dealing with space issues that I had with my econoline (It was a shorty so there was not much space) anyway I'm just rambling, love your video, maybe I'll run into you sometime since we aren't too far apart. you rock! cheers!!
There are so many amazing alternative energy options out there! Bessie is going to stay pretty basic in this realm, but the next one might be a little fancier ;)
Awesome! I am so very impressed with that stove! Since you are using that pressed wood as fuel, have you seen any of the videos for making your own? I don't know if these would be feasible for you, but tinyhouselistings and desertsun02 both have videos that show how to make your own biomass fuel packets. Love that Navigator stove, Allison (Hope I spelled that right!) Congratulations and I am super impressed with your willingness and ability to do the work involved, especially with that sheet metal molding! Yay!
+Cathy Wright thank you! I haven't seen those particular videos but I've seen similar systems... I'll have to check them out! I think that will have to go on the future homestead goal list ;)
I can't believe CZcams didn't tell me about this video, and I'm subbed >_< oh well, all that aside, I'm so happy you installed the wood burning stove into the skoolie sound mansion, looks awesome, love the new haircut (new to me) keep on being awesome!
Great job! I too am looking for a small wood burning stove for my skoolie. I was looking at two stoves, the mini cubic, & the HQ Issues, by Sportsman. But I am not as handy, or brave as you, and not interested in putting a hole in my bus ceiling. Can the flute go out the window, when I'm not driving, and removed when in motion??? Thanks for the video. .....
I'm going to be living a good bit in NW Florida during the winter months, needless to say with the humidity there, a propane heater is out of the question. I've been thinking about installing a small wood stove in my van. It'd be exclusively for heating, tho. Might look into your manufacturer since you said they do custom work. Thanks :)
If you already have propane for cooking, the Dickinson or Cozy Cabin Heater propane fireplaces are vented to the outside and don't introduce moisture to the interior. They're also cheaper, lighter and don't require cleaning.
Great job! I'm trying to convince my wife to go wood stove over a pellet stove since it gives you more burning options than pellets. You spoke about the main downside of the wood stove of having to wake up in the middle of the night to feed it. I'm still debating, but it's good to see a video about this.
nice. i live in a little shack and heat exclusively on a big wood burning stove... don't tell the safety police, but i have zero heat shielding... granted, my shack isn't powered by gasoline, but i do have a propane burner (and canister) and some gas stored in my shack... i think knowing your stove is the biggest thing. for example, that giant metal wall between your rooms... you could probably lose all or most of it and be just fine safety wise, plus reap the benefits of heat transfer into the bedroom section. yes, i have carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors and fire extinguishers etc. but i know my stove because i'm sleeping working chilling eating etc two feet away from it 24/7. i know how high and how close my wood pile on the side can be. i know how close my trash & kindling can be. i know how close my table and chairs can be. and my bed etc. i hope you continue to enjoy your stove for many years to come and find all the sweet spots and pull as much efficiency out as you can ;) all the best. gonna go check out a tour video now...
Hi there. Im about to move on to a boat, and i was looking at ways to get a nice dry heat. This lead me to your video. I realy like the idea of a woodstove - but i was worried about the cold nights, having to get up once or twice to add more fuel. But i just came by another video where he suggested that you add a relative big firestone brick on top of you oven before you go to sleep. This will collect a ton of energy (heat), and release it slowly, thus giving you heat all throught the night. The downside is, that it is a bit heavy, depending on the size, and you would need a place to store it when not needed :)
If half the woman in the states were like you I would agree %100 with equal pay, 9 out of ten woman I know would not do half the stuff you do to be self efficient. They just want a cozzy desk job were they talk all day and not get dirty. You are for sure on the right path to self efficiency and independance.
+mike vega are you aware of how incredibly sexist and ignorant this comment is? I generally don't approve hateful comments on my page, but I honestly started to think that maybe you actually were unaware
Skoolie Sound if speaking the truth is sexist then I'm sorry I say things as they are doesn't matter what it is people today can't stand to hear the truth and instead fixing g the problem they say your racist,or sexist or ignorant. But I say it as it no matter the subject. This was intended as a compliment I see you as being one of the few woman that can handle themselves far better than most men. Half of the men out there are lazy as well makes me sick when I get jobs at these houses for renovations and the men just lay on a couch doing nothing while the gf or wives have to go out to work. Or see guys perfectly healthy on disability cause they have no pride to get a job.So no I'm not sexist or ignorant I'm sorry if seeing you as more independent and capable than majority of woman and a lot of men as well is sexist.
What? WHAT? This comment is so mid century. Itstrhe 90's man...get with the program. I can tell you have no kids or have been married several times and she has the kids. You have not had any higher level education and have not traveled much. Yikes! ALL the women I know work harder than the men in their lives. You have issues man and it would be best to get them tended to. And stop making misogynistic statements like this. Oh wait...you kidding right? OM Goodness you got me. My Bad. Never mind...
I do mostly docu reality shows, with a little corporate sprinkled in here and there. I do location only though, so kangaroo pouch/wireless lavs/boompole set up :-)
The cubic mini wasn't on the market back when I ordered the sardine, and while I don't know much about them they seem like a great option. I chose the sardine for its high efficiency, weight, and lower btu output. Sardines have been used in sailboats for eons and have huge customer loyalty, so that factored in.
Yes but...but...I am not so sure all things thought...should be voiced. Maybe it would be better just to comment on another's accomplishments. She sure does seem cool tho...
I travel for work and spent most of the spring and summer in Fiji, on the Salmon River, and in Hawaii, lol, so not a lot of time in the bus for installation or videos.
It may be difficult for you to get different sizes of firewood but if you can, a way of extending the life of your fire would be to burn, as your last evening fire, as large a block of nice dry hardwood as you can fit in your stove door. Pack as much wood as you can into the fire box and damper it down after you get a good burn going. But even so getting a fire that lasts overnight is going to be tough in a stove that size. I've been burning wood for many years. And even with a ready source of firewood from local public lands it's still somewhat difficult to get a good long-lasting over-night fire. Not because of the wood as much as the size of the firebox. With the weather as it is, getting into the upper twenties at night, my living room stove gets me through the night with coals in the morning. But when it gets in the low teens and below zero I have to fire up the larger stove in the basement. I grew up in a large house that was totally heated with wood. The firebox in the stove in the basement was about half the size of a Volkswagen Beetle. Burning firewood is work. But I love it and save money by doing the work myself. And I love the smell of smoke when it's cold outside.
I'm saving for a cargo van that I'm going to insulate to R-11. I want to travel south in winter and north in summer. Presently I live Idaho and it is killing me. The heat source I am still researching as I don't want the Propane Moisture in the van. I have been thinking in terms of Rocket Stove but I'm still searching. I also like Kerosene but need to find a small enough heater. Kerosene will cook you. More videos please I only missed this one by 5 months.
i lived in sandpoint for a while. i hated it. but loved other things about idaho. moved back to spokane, life is good. trying to live mobile soon. cheers.
DO NOT MAKE YOUR TRUE FANS WAIT 9 MONTHS FOR A VIDEO LOL EYE CHECK YOUR CHANNEL DAILY. LOVE YOUR VAN. PEACE AND LOVE GODDESS. DO YOU HAVE AN EMAIL? FOR THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO HELP OUT YOUR MOVEMENT
+Serenity Sekhmet Thanks for watching and for being patient! I'm planning on releasing videos every month or two, but since I travel for work it's not a strict schedule :)
Skoolie Sound thank you for the videos, for sharing this wonderful home. I hate to gush, but I have watched this video three times now and it just keeps getting better. Your bus is my absolute, all-time favorite tiny home!
Did you find insurance? I got insurance for my bus (finally) through "Good Sam" National General. They also took over all my insurance needs (I have a van also) for a combined low price.
The dead don't sleep, though. Once dead, those souls who did not walk the narrow path on this earth will live in spiritual and physical torment for eternity with no fraternity in a place that's hot, dark, and that smells of sulfur.
Cute and cozy little stove. The butcher block really makes the tiny home feel like a tiny lodge. Great vid...thanks for your time.
Your kitchen remodel turned out fabulous - both aesthetically appealing and functional. Great job! There's nothing that makes a space feel more like a home than a wood burning stove! Hope to see you doing some cooking on the stove in future videos. Thanks for sharing!

What a great little stove. A lot of work, but it looks like it was worth it. Great new storage.
Thank you! I actually forgot how much work it was till I edited this video, lol. Fortunately it only has to be done once!
Skoolie Sound yes, well worth it. enjoy your cozy little home.
Clicked on the video so fast and didn't realize it was you. Never been more excited :). Was waiting for a new video for months. Glad to see your upgrades on the bus. Helps me when it's my turn lol..
And to add that you put it in yourself with all of that extra work, brave.
+Jane Doe Aw, thanks! If you're somewhere sunny and warm maybe I can help out, lol.
Bessy the land cow 😅😅😅😅 thanks for sharing! I love your yoga pants :)
Glad to see more episodes!!! :D Cheers!!!
North Idaho Energy Logs are seriously the best. My family has tested sooooo many different company's logs/pellets, and those were the ones that wow'd us the most. They burn much longer, hotter and cleaner, and they leave behind way less dust and ash than a lof of others.

Nice work..
I dig your gypsy wagon and your enthusiasm. I just bought a tiny stove. It's gonna be perfect to cozy up next to while camping with my girl.
That's a cool stove. Gotta get one for my build.
great job in installing everything
My names Gus and I just bought a bus!
I am super excited and extremely glad I came across your channel. You took the words right outta me when you talk about romanticize about self-sufficiency which that is all I do. Thinking about building a tiny rocket stove for Merideth my bus!
Can't wait to take her across country.
Thank you so much for sharing!
peace :)
Thanks for watching, and best of luck with Merideth!
It is so tiny! Looking good. Smart solutions.
Wow, completely brilliant!
I just started a School Bus conversion. I think, my Skoolie will be one of the first ones in Germany 🇩🇪😎. Therefore I'm looking for inspiration and your bus looks really cool. Thank you for sharing

Great video .Thanks.
adorable bus and owner..
Very cool! (no pun intended)
Bessie is coming along nicely. :)
Great upgrade! I have been looking for a used little woodstove, fingers crossed ! Tried my propane little buddy and couldn't believe how much water it condenses... I had water dripping off the roof !
greetings from Ontario. nice setup. you are very articulate.
Nice to see an update from you. I thought you were gone for good. Nice job on the stove👍😃
Not gone for good, just very part time on the channel, lol.

I love this video!!! Great job and it answered many of my questions. Please... Do more videos, you are good at it. 🎥🎥🎥🎥📹📹📹📹👍🚃🚃🚃🚃🔥🔥🔥🔥

You know Justin Credible uses Wood Stove's in his RV's. Do you live in your Bus full time ??? Enjoyed the Video. :) Terry
I can't believe CZcams didn't tell me about this video, and I'm subbed >_< oh well, all that aside, I'm so happy you installed the wood burning stove into the skoolie sound mansion, looks awesome, love the new haircut (new to me) keep on being awesome!

Would you ever make a counter extender for more counter space for your kitchen

I could only shake my head when reading his comment wow can he really be that dumb? Lol
no it wasn't, the truth is the truth, deal with it.
I have been reading that conversions with a wood stove are impossible to get insured. Have you found a company that will cover you?
Great video! Please make more. What audio do you do? I've run many a sound board in my day. AV nerd here...
I do mostly docu reality shows, with a little corporate sprinkled in here and there. I do location only though, so kangaroo pouch/wireless lavs/boompole set up :-)
Have you thought about a bi-metallic generator for the cold days?
why did u choose that stove as compare to making 1 out of a small potbelly propane container or other stove like the cubic mini ?
The cubic mini wasn't on the market back when I ordered the sardine, and while I don't know much about them they seem like a great option. I chose the sardine for its high efficiency, weight, and lower btu output. Sardines have been used in sailboats for eons and have huge customer loyalty, so that factored in.
Cubic stove in Canada sells little tools
Cover the logs in caddie wax they will last longer maybe
Sorry German. Wo kann man das bestellen?
Good looking woman
Yes but...but...I am not so sure all things thought...should be voiced. Maybe it would be better just to comment on another's accomplishments. She sure does seem cool tho...
Good job why so long for the videos
I travel for work and spent most of the spring and summer in Fiji, on the Salmon River, and in Hawaii, lol, so not a lot of time in the bus for installation or videos.
Make some more videos

Hey! Any chance you could message me? I am planning my bus conversion and would love input from someone with similar ideas!
I am going to put in a halibut
I'm saving for a cargo van that I'm going to insulate to R-11. I want to travel south in winter and north in summer. Presently I live Idaho and it is killing me. The heat source I am still researching as I don't want the Propane Moisture in the van. I have been thinking in terms of Rocket Stove but I'm still searching. I also like Kerosene but need to find a small enough heater. Kerosene will cook you. More videos please I only missed this one by 5 months.

Who is your insurance company? I need to insure my bus
Did you find insurance? I got insurance for my bus (finally) through "Good Sam" National General. They also took over all my insurance needs (I have a van also) for a combined low price.
I would like to travel with you and turn that into the bang bus
damn you look great...you lost weight too...you working out
@2.36 Soon the mark of the beast will be tattooed on everyone's forehead, you can stop this madness by washing and removing that Store barcode ;)
The dead don't sleep, though. Once dead, those souls who did not walk the narrow path on this earth will live in spiritual and physical torment for eternity with no fraternity in a place that's hot, dark, and that smells of sulfur.
You're cute are you married
