Adam514 hey Adam. *heresy incoming* I’ve played war thunder for about 3 years now and only ever played arcade planes because it’s easy for me. I’ve tried realistic before and it’s just 20 min climb, die, back to menu. Enough of that explanation though aha, my real question is - for a new player, could you do a tips and tricks video for people starting out? Like I’ve played for 3 years and only a month ago did I discover what an airbrake is. It’s not immediately obvious so just saying it’d be great to hear some tips :). Thanks.

My reaction, as someone who plays a lot the He-162 (hey, I like playing it don't judge pls), would be: _Ah shit, here we go again-_
Cause 90% of the time it damages the engine, and if it damages the engine, you're done for
If you're close enough to the af you can repair, but if it's more than 10kms away then you'll inevitably crash into the ground/get fucked by some P-51 or Spitfire
The AA at the centre of the map is too OP imo
I get shot while going 600 kph at 2-3 kms of altitude, come on, it's even more efficient than the airfield AA

I just got the 162 and the biggest issue I have with it is that I have crashed multiple times trying to take off on the short dirt runways they give you in most RB maps.
Yeah, load min fuel when stock is my recommendation.

@Febriano Wr 262 is even better for killing bombers as it is faster and has more fire power. the problem with tier 5 sim is that germans have an extremely low win rate because of a2d-1 spam. they just spawn, bomb an airfield, crash, and repeat.

It has poor MER for design reasons, Gaijin doesn't decide that. Gaijin does have some leeway, but it doesn't make or break a plane's MER.

I wouldn't mind seeing you cover the best way to use a twin engine heavy fighter like the Ki-96. With its fairly recent downtier to 3.7, it may be interesting to see how that affects how one would best fly it.

I like flying it around in custom battle with realistic control and cockpit view with minimum fuel. The great cockpit visibility combined with very easy handling makes it a joy to just cruise around in. And with non-mouse-aim controls you can make fine inputs which is how high wing loading planes liked.
Yeah I fly in SB from time to time, it's nice. Looking for dots in SB is a different story though.
Even though the plane is boring, still a good video to watch and pick up a few little tricks. Every video I watch of yours I learn something new to take back into the game :)

In addition to cheesing the lawnmowers, you can also attack the hordes of allied fighters that dive after Ju288s.
Yup, and if they chase you you can bait for your team. It requires good awareness and being able to tell energy states.

I either get pilot sniped or set on fire with the first hit, 1km out, at high speed, at an angle, when I try for a quick hit on bombers. Yet when I fly a bomber the whole crew dies from heart attacks when an enemy gets spotted.
Sure that happens sometimes, but it should be very rare.
Bullying poor seafires is pure hell. Anyway, great vid. Really shows how the He 162 should be used. Anyway, the Allies, especially the USA have put insane amount of resources into radar after Normandy. Also, lucky that you got to face props. Otherwise, the video might have been a little shorter.

To be fair, the aircraft is better than it was some time ago in warthunder but i always thought that the flight model does not quite match the flight reports of allied pilots after the war.

To be fair to Gaijin, the exact performance characteristics were not released publically (I don't think), so they just modelled it the way they thought it would fly.

The plane? Mostly from books and reports.
For what I know it was way faster IRL than it is ingame.
One German primary Source actually states a TAS of 960 km/h @4000m.(!)
Other than that it was supposed to be highly manouverable (roll rate and instantanious turn).
One thing that is also lacking is the notorious high speed-flutter of the plane.
It should behave like a true BnZ plane with a good roll. No turning and trying to keep your speed as high as possible. Good-Decent Climb rate and horrible acceleration.
Basically how it is ingame but way faster.
Bump it up to 7.0 and it could be a fun plane in RB or SB imho.

It basically covers everything.
You can also find the calculated performance estimates with the BMW 003 and Jumo 004 you also find on wikipedia (for the 003E).
These are located at the end of the report.
Keep in mind these are Calculated estimates.
The second page, first paragraph (Flight Characteristics) mention a highest flown speed of 960 km/h.
The following german (quality) aviation newspaper (so no yellow press) cites the Kriegstagebuch and a Vw (TAS) of 960km/h too:

The testflight dates to the 3rd March 1945.
I read the first source, the 960 sounds like a dive.

I honestly wish today's 5.7-6.3 Games were like this.
Now a days, its just 6 man lobbies, with 4 JU288s (usually under level 30)
and 2 fighters for the axis,
while the allies, get super prop fighters or interceptors with airspawns when they shoudnt, with maybe 1 bomber on their team...
It is such a pain, trying to 1 v 5 lobbies in the He 162, never mind a G14 (5.3) facing F2Gs and more...
Wish the old WT would return, where flying my K4 and he162, was the fun-est thing for me, and actually enjoyable.
I managed to enjoy this plane by just accepting that its a silly little thing and not taking it too seriously. It deals with ad4 cancer well enough.

If Wuder were to have done what I used to do when I played USA props (use STEALTH belts + gun convergency set to 600 or 800 meters) he would have imploded you since you were waiting for him to fire before dodging...
I check for the muzzle flash though.
England’s radar was legit, one of the major downfalls of Luftwaffe’s attempts cripple them. If they had developed and utilized the Ho-229 it could have been a different story as the sheer speed and hard to detect design would have allowed them to basically BnZ the English radar stations in around 7 minutes if I remember correctly from the FOB... if they risked using the cutting edge aircraft on the front line.
Ho229 wasn't more than 50% stealthier than contemporay prop fighters though, it would be more its speed that would change things. But, if Germans had Ho229s in 1940, UK has bigger issues than their radar being destroyed haha.
hahaha yah Ho’s prowling in 1940 would have been a lopsided war. Northrop Grumman did a pretty detailed documentary and rebuild of the Ho-229 and radar testing with it, I think they worked it out to like 40% reduction in detection distance when compared to a 109 + the sheer speed would make a scramble essentially useless.

I think it's a fun aircraft as long as you have teamates to back you up. Having 4 Ju288's on a 10 person team, or worse having 3 on a 6-7 person team, is what ruins the gameplay for the He162. In general Ju288's have been the main problem with 5.0-6.0 for a while. They are the reason for pretty much every game is lost in German Air RB.
Honestly i find the 162 quite capable of carrying against all props (p51h excluded). It's just that i take a long time and good aim. Match are too short for properly BnZ and attackers. can instantly win the match.
I think the "hate" about the 162 should be aimed for the whole 6.0 br range shitness of a grinding show currently.

Yeah, but then you lose more speed in the turn which eventually makes you turn slower, so a decision needs to be made.

Quick question for anyone who knows the answer
When a plane has a good roll, how do you capitalize on that? I never figured out how having a good roll can help you stay behind a target as well as reverse if a target is glued to you
Makes it faster to change direction, making it easier to aim and harder to follow for the enemy behind you.

I think theyve shadow nerfed base AAA. I used to not be able to get within 4km of a base without being set on fire or having my oil emptied onto the ground up until the last couple days anyway.

@@AdamTheEnginerd Weird. I had a match a few hours ago where two 152s and a 109 had a dogfight with me(P51) and a spit 500m above our runway. The spit got two and the last one ran all the way home and started climbing again before i got him. Im not sure any of them got hit bad by aa

It didn’t look like a hit but you sure did fire about 10-20 rounds. Thing is you can only see 2 tracers but if you look at the ammo count, you can see you fired like 20 rounds.
Yeah I know, it's just that I was passing through the Spitfire's trajectory only for a fraction of a second.
Guess this is what happens when you try and make a plane out of cheap cardboard held together with school-grade wooden glue you'd find in the supermarket (assumimg Germany had any left by its introduction). Your skills and captions definitely take out the boredom though.

its actually not a bad idea if it can maintain its speed over the climbing enemy. If you are going against much faster vehicles however, i would not recommend it

About an year ago I dogfought someone, I was in the Yak-9T and he was in the F6. However for some reason he keeps outturning me. He knew how to dogfight properly with his plane. Could you suggest what would you do in such dogfight or maybe try this with your friend or something and share the results somewhere?

It's not a turboprob, it's a piston engine with a contra-rotating prop. It's on my list!
That bmw003 not overheat when using wep since get patch but the 262 c2b has the same engines and overheat like old performance of this engines i remeber when both overheat in the same form but gaijin decide only change 162 engine and no 262c2 :(

Wich version of the He 162, isn't there a premium version with a Jumo 004 engine? Historically, that would be the much more sturdy engine.

Why I'm not seeing fire coming from the back of the engine like you when I'm flying this plane?
Flames were removed on non afterburning engines because you couldn't see a flame in real life.
what was the bf109 MEC trick to get more thrust whrn going verticle again? or maybe it was for a yak i forgot
It was on Bf109s, under 200km/h at low altitude you can put the prop pitch at 65% for extra thrust. I used it at the end of my Bf109G14AS video if you want to see it in action.

What do you think of the F-84B? Seems kind of like a He-162 at its br: fast but climbs poorly and loses a lot of speed in turns. Personally, I really enjoy playing the F-84B every now and then: with a little side climbing, it is a great cleanup plane and can easily take care of occupied planes due to its top speed, high-speed maneuverability, and M3 50 cals.
I used to like it when it was 7.0 and had an above airfield airspawn to rush enemies. Now with af spawn and 7.3, it sounds tough.
@@AdamTheEnginerd that's what I thought too, but I just decided to try it out and it's really good. First, the mirror matchmaking ensures that it doesn't often face F-84G's and Me 163's that can easily beat it in a duel. Second, there are a lot more people playing 6.3 these days: A2D players and P-51H players going for the F-4. This means that the F-84B now has good, 50/50 uptier/downtier matches instead of always being uptiered like it was before. Third, you have a lot more experienced teammates. This is caused by experienced players coming back for the F-4: now your competent teammates will be able to finish your baits and bait for you, which is essential in the F-84B. It's a lot more fun than I thought it would be, and my KD was pretty good even stock when it was only as fast as a P-80.
The key, I've found, is shallow dives. I use a somewhat unconventional style in the F-84 where instead of staying fast and low, I actually climb up to about 2.5 km and then accelerate directly into battle. This buffer altitude allows me to shallow dive to my top speed even after I make a maneuver, which means that I can commit a lot more than usual, but then quickly dive away and regain my altitude elsewhere. And also, if I'm ever being chased, I can quickly drop the nose and equalize energy. What the F-84B lacks in MER, it makes up for in linear energy retention: put it into a shallow climb and you regain all your altitude and even a few hundred meters more than you started out with. As long as your speed is above 650-700, you have excellent speed-altitude conversion, beaten only by the F-84G and Russian planes (la 200, yak 23). You're kind of screwed if you face a la 200 or a yak 23, but you can drag them to teammates. Your stubby wings make you a small target to shoot, and the F-84 is also very durable and can tank many hits.
