Whatever happened to the Clitheroe's tattooed, bent-armed, enforcer?

Sad to hear that the mood is not good at Clitheroe. Lowerhouse seem to have the same 8 or 9 guys playing every week - what is the root of this difference in availability?

This is a good question and one to which I don't know the answer. Younger players hardly ever miss a game; older players have domestic and work circumstances that can limit availability. But this does not fit the bill really because some of the most available squads within Lancashire Clubs are well into their 30s.
Is there something that you might call club ethos or commitment - I don't know ? But what I do know, or think I know, is that picking teams with every player available is a much easier task and one that is much more likely to bring success.

Why does Charlie not bowl more Keith? Decent left armer isn’t he?

He can bowl very well but you never know quite what you're going to get. He's keen enough to bowl but it's difficult for a skipper to be confident about outcomes. All it needs is a couple of good performances and he'll be back, but it getting the chance. I've always thought he was potentially a very good all rounder.

Why do you get fined for not playing a Pro Keith? Seems a very strange rule that to me!

The rules state that each club must play one bona fide Professional or Overseas Amateur and is "entitled", under certain circumstances, to engage a substitute professional. I've just checked the Lancashire League rule book and you need an advanced Law degree to fully understand it. I imagine there are plenty of precedents to work from and, I think I'm right in saying, Clitheroe was fined last year for the same offence.

Ah ok, it’s a shame that the over seas professional seems to have been an issue over the last couple of seasons. Last years one although played didn’t really deliver I’d say & the South African this year started off really well but had to go back for obvious reasons. Does the club follow an overseas process or do they get a 3rd party to get one?

Time for a rebuild, blood players from the 2's and entice players over from other clubs.
