    This was fantastic! I've done FMD 10 times and love its results. But the last FMD kit I received had two errors, which was very disconcerting because you just don't stop the FMD because something is missing! I called and reported the errors in the kit - poor quality control issues - but didn't really get any satisfaction. So, I've been on the lookout for a DIY version. There are some others on You Tube but yours, by far, is the best. So, thank you so much to going to all this trouble for us. Additionally, I am certain that a 'real live food' version of FMD is going to be far more satisfying than the processed, packaged, dusty one that Prolon makes. Kathleen

      Thank you for sharing your feedback and experience, Kathleen! I had only tried Prolon once myself and though I mostly loved the product (for its results!) I prefer the fresh food version. I hope you were able to finish your 10th cycle successfully despite the errors! Good luck with this DIY version - if you have any questions as you go through it, please let me know 🙂 Jamie

    Great video! I make a huge pot of soup at the beginning of the week and using cronometer. I build a recipe that has the exact macros of the FMD. Then I know how many calories per cup, and I go from there. If I get snacksy, I munch on celery, cucumber, dill, pickles, etc. Works just as well as when I did the packaged version.

    We did our own version of DIY for the FMD and it worked really well. We didn’t weigh the veggies since they are so low calorie anyway, we used size measurements. But of course the nuts and oils have to be very precisely measured since they are so calorie-dense. I think this works better than Prolon for a few reasons: first, we’re using whole unprocessed foods, and second, fresh veggies are a lot more filling than eating a cracker. We had no hunger issues until days 4 and 5. In fact, some days it was hard to eat the entire calorie allotment for veggies because it takes a LOT of them to add up to just a few calories. We’re following Dr. Longo’s other recommendations for eating all the time, and plan to do the DIY FMD for 5 days each month to improve our health and lose weight.

      Great question! I do not on our DIY version and stick to drinking lots of water, sparkling water (flavored but none with added sugars since that’ll take us out of the fasting state), and lots of herbal teas. I understand it’s pretty easy to get glycerin from grocery stores - I feel like the glycerin drink in ProLon’s official FMD was effective at curbing hunger so def something to consider adding if hunger is a struggle!

    • @plant52_
      @plant52_  Před 11 měsíci +1

      thanks Cindi! Yes, you can replace the foods in this DIY version with other whole plant foods since this is a DIY version. Dr. Longo and his team use specific plant foods scientifically (and therefore state their FMD can't be recreated at home). We've tried different ingredients with our DIY version and each time, we go into ketosis (and therefore burn our glucose stores appropriately) measured by our blood ketones. There's flexibility to play around with the foods you use - please use cronometer.com to make sure you get the correct macronutrient breakdowns; you can find those and more info on the "part 1" video here: czcams.com/video/fDswX6gk0OU/video.html - good luck!

The Paddison program looks great! If you feel like that level of support would be helpful to you with the extra information and support included, looks like a good option. I would recommend to start however to stick to a very basic meal plan for a week and see how that affects you: something like oatmeal with fresh or frozen fruit for breakfast; brown rice and a variety of your favorite veggies for other meals; fruit for dessert (just as an example). The breakfast demo here is actually for all 5 days - it's the only meal that stays the same throughout our entire fast. To get the FMD grams of fat vs protein vs carbs, you'll want to use something like cronometer.com - punch in all of your food and it'll show you the total percentages of macronutrients (fat, protein, carbs) and from there you can adjust each food type until you hit the right macro percentages!
