Abraham Marder wrote and performed the song "Green" for the critically acclaimed, award-winning film Sound of Metal. The song, itself shortlisted for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, was produced by Thomas Bartlett and is the closing theme for the film. Sound of Metal, directed by Darius Marder and co-written by Darius and Abraham Marder and featuring Riz Ahmed, is now available on Amazon Prime Video. A full motion picture soundtrack will also be released by Nonesuch later this year; details to be announced.

@@williamreilly3172 that's the idea. He hasn't fully accepted living without his hearing, he's still gonna need time to adjust to the way his life is now, and that could be a struggle for him, but in that one moment he felt peace.
Watching the film, I was hoping for a more hollywood-movie-type ending where it ends with a shot of him walking back to Joe's place and maybe just waving to him in the distance, not telling us if he's staying or just generally meeting him once more, but that might be too perfect/predictable for an ending. The ending we got felt perfect. It felt open, but it felt warm that after struggling for so long, clinging to a hope that he can get his hearing back, he finally finds a moment of peace without it, even if it's just that moment, it feels comforting to see him find that moment of quiet Joe was talking about.
I think the ending we got was perfect, it just felt right for the type of film it was and the way the story was being told
I have adult onset deafness. Got my Cochlear implant at age 60. I am so grateful that I can send ppl off to watch it and get an inkling of what it’s really like.
Movie made me cry. Hard. It’s a specific kind of loneliness that can’t be explained. It’s hard to express, but this song and montage does a good job.
The scene at the party when he can hear and talk with father in the quiet kitchen. Then later goes in backyard and it’s overwhelming noise and physical sickness. Totally accurate.
This is mostly deleted scenes. I Iove it. It’s telling more of the story in these little scenes that complete more of the story that was already told so perfectly. It feels like a peek behind their lives that we already knew. I love this!!! For me it represents the little memories we lose in the big picture and chaos of life. The little moments that when they’re gone end up meaning the most.
absolutely masterpiece video...And I think not every scene has been cut from the main movie, there are also just filmed and showed moments but from a different perspective, from a different angle. In total...that video is a perfect summary and could be also treated as a must-see video when you finish the movie, the icing on the cake.
I’m glad I decided to look up this song after I finished the film. This gave me a bit more closure.

Just finished the film first time ever watching it. As a drummer it’s a brilliant watch and recommend it to others and has a strong powerful message that you have to deal with what life throws at you no matter what you got to keep going and doing your best no matter how hard and painful

I absolutely LOVE this film. This video is awesome, love the unused rushes. My romantic heart wants Ruben to find his way back to the deaf school and settle with the teacher, definitely a chemistry there...
That's what I liked about the movie is that it gave you no definite answers, but it left the possibility open for Ruben to go back and find a community where he belonged

I believe the name 'Sound of Metal' doesn't refer to the music genre he's playing. It is the sound of the implant.
Or maybe the sound of the slide when he was tapping on it for that little boy. Could be all 3!
I was already upset, restless, struck by anxiety today. Thought of taking some break off my routine. Thought, maybe I should watch this movie, only having hint that it's a great movie, having no idea bout the plot. Made the worst decision ever, made me upset twofold.
This is one of my favourite movies, wonderful.

There's only one thing i really don't get : why did he walk out on his gf ? They could have stayed together, with or without their music and stuff. She was clearly single when he came back to her and they clearly still love each other. I guess that should be enough
Probably because he'd viewed himself as disabled and didn't want to be a burden on her. It wasn't until he'd accepted himself that he felt free to be with her again.
@@FOBIsMyNickName yeah I agree. I mean I think that he saw she was doing really well for herself in Paris and he didn't want to hinder that. He realized that if she were to have a successful singing career she would be attending lots of parties and such and he learned by visiting her at her dad's that that just wasn't going to be something he could enjoy doing anymore.
