    Hey, Xander. We love your videos here in Australia. Would be great to see a post surf trip video on cleaning and maintaining your rods and reels as they always cop a battering from the waves. I and a few of my mates are curious about how long your reels last in these harsh conditions on average. Cheers, mate! Frank :)

    Out of curiosity for what y’all are using there, a gear review would make for a good video. Reviewing rods, reels, drag output, how much bait you’re throwing out on any given cast, etc, would be cool to compare notes.

😅fishing legends

    A lot of shark fishing is done with 8000-10500 spinning reels. What kind of conventional reels are people still using for raggies and bronzies?

  • @comeatmebro3229
    @comeatmebro3229 Před rokem

    i must say the Bronzie fishing here in South Aus (for me anyway) has been pretty bad, ive had a couple bite offs while mulloway fishing but no actual Bronzies when targetting them.
    the Mulloway fishing has been slow too but it might be weather related honestly, been a pretty cool summer and ive always found the hotter simmers produce more sharks and more mulloway.
    not sure if thats the case in South Africa

    Do you occasionally use a bait boat or is there no need for it or are the waves too big? Great catch!

    Xander as beginner to shark fishing, when fighting a decent bronzie, how tight do set you set your drag? How do you know if your drag is too tight or too soft?

    • @zoolookfishing
      @zoolookfishing  Před rokem +1

      Depending on the thickness of your braid, I set my drag as tight as possible. Fishing for bronze whalers a good 50lb should be the lightest you should go, ideally 65. I prefer 80lb or even 100lb like in this video. Keep the fight duration as short as possible. Don’t be afraid to have a really tight drag. If your knots are done right you can pull your arms of on 50lb.
      So in short, your drag should he tight.
