Master carpenter here...Looks good boys...2 pro tips...1. use saw horses...you get better cuts and save your back...plus its safer if saw kicks back...2. Always set your saw blade to 1/4 in. deeper than your board to rip...this eliminates blade friction drag and is much safer and easier...try it...Great looking job!
Thanks for the tips!
Mongosaqqara radcats is right always set blade to material depth plus little more when ripping so less friction blade won't heat up and warp on you and it makes you rip crooked
@Ben Dover no skills 😫😫👆👆
Great job fellas 👏!!! Dad O'Dell you raised your kid right! I know your proud!!! Happy early Father's!!!
Amen to that, that’s some excellent parenting!

I didn’t think I would but I actually preferred the darker finish…..loving the transformation so far! 🤗🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
Awesome
Ty
Wow!! That’s straight up impressive!! I think the fence looks great!!
TY
I would’ve preferred the clear coat. It looked awesome prior to the chocolate but still looked nice. Great video
Me too

Looks great came out solid! 👌

I love the natural. But the chocolate is pretty too. I could live with it either way. Beautiful fence.
TY
Great job
Great video series.
TY
Looks freakin awesome 😍😍😍

It’s Odell time!!!

Quality work it turned out really nice! Timber isn't cheap at the minute crazy prices across the pond in 🇮🇪 too
Nice fence. Cool video

ITS ODELLL TIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
OSS
that intro was great!
TY
Clear Stain all the way
"Yeah... That was brutal. Shane really took the bloom of that." Dude that was the best!
__It happens
Great job wagner stain sprayer works really good for spraying that king of stains way faster too
true but there is the overspray to be concerned with
@@OdellCompleteConcrete very minimum
LMAO, let it ripppp, that boy dusted everyone. 😅
Brutal
Good stuff
Glad you enjoyed
Looks good !! The only thing that would bother me are the exposed post brackets on the concrete knee wall.
If you paint them to match, they disappear
That turned out really nice. I just can't believe 50 bucks a board. Wow!
most of the cost is in fuel transport
I’m glad you brought up the way he cut the wood… I’m glad you son is experienced enough to make that awkward cut lol. Good job voice over sir…
TY
Looks good Ryan but each board end should have two screws in them. All this new growth lumber comes from the suppliers wet, so all those $50 dollar boards are gonna cup & twist. Love your videos and i am subscribed!
Yep, I agree, so they will shrink as well. In my area, some builders are conscientious to make a rain defusing that keeps water from being too big a factor in cupping and twisting.
How long in advance should you purchase fencing before installing ?
I plan to build a new fence would like to prevent such an issue ?
I have used redwood fence pickets they are about 6 feet and rough sawn but closer to $5 a piece, at least in northern ca. something to consider if you are trying to do a similar look on a budget.
True
TY
LMFAOOOOOOO Your commentary had me dead.........."That was brutal..........."
OSS
Great work, hope you chewed Timmy out cutting on his leg 😳😄🤦♂️ Crazy story about the guy cutting his leg and you saving him with tourniquet 👍
For sure.
Wild
looks great guys at moment but it will twist as not enough screws in the boards needs at least 2 on each post
true
liked the intro
TY
Nice fence , I enjoy your videos
I had a similar episode with
Loaning tool to a church group. They hit a gas line with my chipping hammer
Wow
Scary
They went back and screwed those boards off better, I assume. One screw in the middle of "wet" wood will absolutely allow it to cup and look real bad, real fast in that environment.
True story
WOW
I wonder how difficult it would be to stagger the concrete wall to avoid the angled peices? Probably comes down to preference. Looking good!
Stepping the wall could be done
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Just think with that foundation for the fence, how long will it last? My bet would be a long, long time.
1st 👍
Sweet
Right on Drummer
NICE NEW INTRO 👍🤙

Bien profesionales

I think the crew knocked it out of the park. The front end of the property looks great, in fact, IMO, so good that now the house looks like crap. I hope the homeowner has plans to freshen up the look of the house too!!
Yes, I think that's the phase.
TY
I live in San Jose and my back fence is still original redwood when they build the house in 1969 still in good condition. Replaced my side fences about 20 years ago with redwood and already is falling apart. They don’t make wood like they use to. Lol
For sure
I’m sure the client appreciates how meticulous y’all are with arranging the redwood slats. Y’all did a great job all the way through!❤❤❤
TY
9:40 lol lol lol lol lol love it.

At 10:10
That was brutal, "Shane took some strong wiffs of natural gas"
He's bathing in it lol
Haha 😂
Made me laugh "yeah that was brutal." "Shane really took the brunt of that." Amazing recovery. When us guys work together it gets brutal.
I concur
I would have made a very different choice with the fence / gate.
Nice. What type of wood is used?
Not sure about Cali, but a board with one screw in Georgia will cup, split and fall off within a year.
same here, I hope they added another screw
Yow Shane ate that dinner plate 😂😂
and loved it
Those poor people gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country, their son..and the bloke with the pocket full of pens and the clipboard won't let them extend the curb drop off.... besides that daft ruling ...your doing a great Job David
TY
for watching
You're right. We need to apply city codes on a per-case basis. You get exceptions only if you deserve them.
I get 12" X16' at Home Depot, and often have to go through them for a lesser amount of knots.
I've went through two bunks of lumber to find 40 pieces
@@OdellCompleteConcrete While listening to your idea of expansion foam, there is a product called seal-seal offered at Lowe's. Perhaps that would be cheaper that foam and a lot less mess.
looks good I hope some of those screws get sink even with the surface of the board
I have a question if you're doing fences like that for customers and when they move out does a fence like that or any other type of fence that it's decent bring the value of the house up or does it go down
Depends on the buyer
Wow!
Great work!
Question: how much does a job like this cost?
Llots has to do with vinyl or high grade wood
Yes for sure
Well how much for this fence. And how many ft was this.
Wish you guys were in Oklahoma. Im an O'Dell also would be cool to say hi
Yes it would, maybe one day
intersting
The goal for my budget is to get a 300’ Milwaukee! I only have the small 100’ lol!
Sweet
i was wondering if you could tell
me the exact color that stain was ? TY!
Unknown mixture
Sounded moist
Yes
You should call the Alumawood pergola people in Socal about their Knotwood brand fences.
For sure
6/17/22, much appreciate all your & crew hard work to make these remodeled/redone driveways...but this redwood fence looks ...kinda funny..but I understand...if customer wants it...you jump in & do it to using all your ability & experience..& technique-wise, it looks perfect!..but I am not ready to do my yard (NewOrleans area/termite issues) with any wood other than treated pine fence boards, or that new white vinyl stuff. Respect your enormous hard work doing cc work...very hard physical labor 2do this...but you & yur crew make it look very easy...when it is not! Thx for your voice over productions! A++👍👍👍😊🛠⚙
Your welcome
TY
I think if it was mine the natural you had a first on the front and the chocolate on the inside kicking against the grass would have looked great.
Good choice
TY
Lmfao he ripped on @9:40 that’s my type of crew!
OSS
David you sound like Jesse James the motorcycle guy....it must be the California accent.
i suppose your right
Hi, how much did you spent on material and labor days?
5500
I've only seen this type of project done with metal forms.
oss
Nice! I've been planning on replacing my fence with a horizontal one. Though, mines on an incline so that might get tricky to get everything to line up right. Was also thinking about doing a combo of slats and corrugated steel because wood is expensive AF.
Might be a nice look
Youngish redwood is terrible stuff. Turns gray fast, and doesn't have the insect and rot resistant qualities of old growth redwood.
I put a plastic at the bottom of the wood and fill the spaces with sand to prevent the concrete from getting in and they always come out easily... As always, I loved the video... keep up the good work!
TY
Yeah! AMErica hat!
Oss
Where do you get such good lumber ?
A lot of hand picking in multiple locations
Ever done a fence using ipe?
No
Love the intro guys...you all have a face for radio...🥴🥴
yes, buts its better to have a voice for radio and face for pictures.
The deceit at 16:22 was orchestrated like 9/11. 😂
For sure
Yep, kinda worried seeing that saw so close to a leg...
Scary
RIP Shane
For sure
what octane was that gas????
100
How did you fill the sinkhole ?
Gravel
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Thanks, you have a great channel here.
9:16 Get yourself a Makita 194368-5 55" Guide Rail to do the long cuts, if it can be used with that model saw. Leaves a better cut.
And thx for always great content! ;)
most of the cuts were tapered.
Guide rails are nice
50$ a board !?!? That’s wild.!!
OSS
Did they go back and put additional screws on the end of the boards? In the video all I saw was one center screw. That won't control warpage at the joints. I'm guessing they must have gone back and put more screws.
that's a good point. I think they did.
One screw per end! That timber is going to bow in between the posts
They added another screw I think
I would of used two screws on each end of the fence boards to eliminate any chance of cupping. Also would of painted the post brackets.
good points.
good idea
Their neighbors must love them it looks like a prison ......But beautiful work.............
TY
I’m counting the pretty red wood slats to get ruff price ....LOL ☺ anyone els??? Hehe
Good idea
Looks like Timmy is taking over the company! Are you retiring Odell?
No, I'm still trucking
I had to teach myself how to use a right handed saw
Makes sense
Lovely job. My one issue would have been to countersink and plug the screws in the fence - at 50 bucks a pop I think it the redwood deserved it.
Good idea
I think I would’ve liked to clear on the fence better
Me too
i think it would have been better with a clear coat. if you are going to use red wood then it should be clear coated to show case the red wood
Me too
