    Master carpenter here...Looks good boys...2 pro tips...1. use saw horses...you get better cuts and save your back...plus its safer if saw kicks back...2. Always set your saw blade to 1/4 in. deeper than your board to rip...this eliminates blade friction drag and is much safer and easier...try it...Great looking job!

      Mongosaqqara radcats is right always set blade to material depth plus little more when ripping so less friction blade won't heat up and warp on you and it makes you rip crooked

    I would’ve preferred the clear coat. It looked awesome prior to the chocolate but still looked nice. Great video

    Looks good Ryan but each board end should have two screws in them. All this new growth lumber comes from the suppliers wet, so all those $50 dollar boards are gonna cup & twist. Love your videos and i am subscribed!

      Yep, I agree, so they will shrink as well. In my area, some builders are conscientious to make a rain defusing that keeps water from being too big a factor in cupping and twisting.

      How long in advance should you purchase fencing before installing ?
      I plan to build a new fence would like to prevent such an issue ?

    I have used redwood fence pickets they are about 6 feet and rough sawn but closer to $5 a piece, at least in northern ca. something to consider if you are trying to do a similar look on a budget.

    They went back and screwed those boards off better, I assume. One screw in the middle of "wet" wood will absolutely allow it to cup and look real bad, real fast in that environment.

    I wonder how difficult it would be to stagger the concrete wall to avoid the angled peices? Probably comes down to preference. Looking good!

    I think the crew knocked it out of the park. The front end of the property looks great, in fact, IMO, so good that now the house looks like crap. I hope the homeowner has plans to freshen up the look of the house too!!

    I live in San Jose and my back fence is still original redwood when they build the house in 1969 still in good condition. Replaced my side fences about 20 years ago with redwood and already is falling apart. They don’t make wood like they use to. Lol

    Not sure about Cali, but a board with one screw in Georgia will cup, split and fall off within a year.

      @@OdellCompleteConcrete While listening to your idea of expansion foam, there is a product called seal-seal offered at Lowe's. Perhaps that would be cheaper that foam and a lot less mess.

    6/17/22, much appreciate all your & crew hard work to make these remodeled/redone driveways...but this redwood fence looks ...kinda funny..but I understand...if customer wants it...you jump in & do it to using all your ability & experience..& technique-wise, it looks perfect!..but I am not ready to do my yard (NewOrleans area/termite issues) with any wood other than treated pine fence boards, or that new white vinyl stuff. Respect your enormous hard work doing cc work...very hard physical labor 2do this...but you & yur crew make it look very easy...when it is not! Thx for your voice over productions! A++👍👍👍😊🛠⚙

    Nice! I've been planning on replacing my fence with a horizontal one. Though, mines on an incline so that might get tricky to get everything to line up right. Was also thinking about doing a combo of slats and corrugated steel because wood is expensive AF.

      Youngish redwood is terrible stuff. Turns gray fast, and doesn't have the insect and rot resistant qualities of old growth redwood.

    I put a plastic at the bottom of the wood and fill the spaces with sand to prevent the concrete from getting in and they always come out easily... As always, I loved the video... keep up the good work!

    9:16 Get yourself a Makita 194368-5 55" Guide Rail to do the long cuts, if it can be used with that model saw. Leaves a better cut.

    Did they go back and put additional screws on the end of the boards? In the video all I saw was one center screw. That won't control warpage at the joints. I'm guessing they must have gone back and put more screws.

    I would of used two screws on each end of the fence boards to eliminate any chance of cupping. Also would of painted the post brackets.

    Lovely job. My one issue would have been to countersink and plug the screws in the fence - at 50 bucks a pop I think it the redwood deserved it.

    i think it would have been better with a clear coat. if you are going to use red wood then it should be clear coated to show case the red wood
