As an assistant kiter you are not responsible for the kiter you are helping, however you want to keep him and yourself safe during the procedure. its good to mention also that person landing kite should let go of the bar and walk towards the assistant, to help loose tension in the lines. not just standing and waiting for the assistant to put kite down.
