Great review! I have multiple MZ Wallace bags and love them. Personally, I never carry structured/hard sided personal item bags. Much more flexible putting the bag under the seat.
Absolutely, softer styles are great as carryon bags, not only for their flexibility under seat but also because we can jam more stuff into them!! 😂
Love MZ Wallace! 🤩 I bought the Medium Metro Tote in pearl metallic (white) last spring for a trip, and it is an excellent travel tote. Light-weight yet durable and easy to clean/ maintain, with plenty of room to hold just about anything. The Jim bag looks like it would be perfect for overhead compartment storage, so I might just pick one up the next time I fly! ✨💖

I love traveling with my longchamp Le Pliage Expandable tote for international travel. It’s my ride or die and the expandable height has been such a life saver. I bought the Tumi tote on your recommendation too. Do you feel the MZ Wallace Jim bag is better and more versatile?? Wondering if I should switch. 🤔

I am a massive mz wallace fan, I have 6 bags from that brand. However I have notice that the quilted Oxford rec nylon does have a tendency to get "fuzzy" or pill over time with continued consistent use, my longchamp has been far more durable as far as a nylon bag goes and probably what I would lean more towards for a travel bag just due to the durability/longevity factor. I do love the bag though and use the mzw mini metro tote deluxe as my everyday bag.
Edit: I baby my bags. So this observation is with continued use ✳with care✳
Interesting! I haven’t noticed any pilling on my older MZ Wallace bags and two of them have really been through the ringer! I’ll keep an eye on that. I enjoy Longchamp as well but I really feel it’s important for a travel bag to have a luggage sleeve and I haven’t seen any Longchamp bags with that feature.

This video is such perfect timing! I'm on the hunt for a perfect travel bag/baby bag and this Jim bag may be the one! I'm also looking at the MZ Wallace Deluxe Large Metro Tote. Which do you think would be best for a travel baby bag? I'm a first time mom (we are adopting :) ) so looking for supportive advice!
Aw what an exciting time for you!! 🎉 I’d definitely recommend the Jim bag as a travel / overnight / baby bag. For more local running around, I’d consider the Metro Quatro style. They’re both lighter in weight than the Deluxe Metro and I think you’ll have your hands full, so have a lighter bag will be nice. The Jim bag will have the largest interior capacity by far, and the Metro Quatro will be smaller and perfect for throwing under the stroller etc. I wonder if the exterior pockets on the Quatro will be handy for baby bottles, pacifiers, wipes, etc (things you’ll need easy access to).

How many kilos can you take in the plane? Because you had a roller suitcase? Do they not weigh items? Or is it because people travel business class. I’m not sure of US, but any major airline economy you can take max 8 kilos plus small size handbag.
I want to hear your thoughts on the material of mz Wallace bags - I recently got a medium metro tote for travel, it has the luggage sleeve and crossbody strap, and such great organizing pockets! Sound great in theory, but when I put anything on the heavier side (books laptop, etc), the bag slouched right away and shaped awkwardly. I ended up using Longchamp + Tumi packable tote in my trip and they worked a lot better. Do you think the styles with a shaped base work better?
You raise a great point! I have an older model called the Max tote that was discontinued a couple years ago. At the time of purchase, I remember comparing it with the Metro tote and decided not to get the Metro exactly for the reasons you mention - it sags and has no support. The Max tote that I have has more of a base, like this Jim travel bag, and it feels more sturdy. I actually mentioned this point in my original review of the Max tote, that it doesn’t get wonky like the other totes they have available. Hope this helps.
I'm so glad you shared this video. I've been looking for a good travel/weekender bag. Like you, I ordered the Jimmy some time ago but returned it because it was too small. Recently, I was contemplating the Longchamp Le Pliage Large Travel bag, but I'm not sold on it because of it's lack of structure. I don't necessarily need it for airplane travel. Would you recommend the MZ Wallace Jim over the Longchamp Le Pliage Large Travel bag?
Yes! I would definitely recommend this over the Longchamp especially for the strap length (so comfortable) and the luggage sleeve!
Do you think the MZ Wallace Jimmy is big enough to use a weekender bag for ski trips etc.?

Love your sharing. Thanks :) I was considering the Jim bag but have a concern the Jim bag is too large and difficult to carry a heavy and bulky bag, either on shoulder or crossbody. How was your experience on carrying this Jim bag with full load ? Thank you.
I was worried about that too but it was very comfortable. edit: This is the 3rd trip I used it on and I had zero problems carrying the full weight on my own, and I’m usually sensitive to weight.

How durable is the material? I love the bag and the trolley sleeve is a must for me, but I worry that the material will tear or rip with frequent use/fitting under airplane seating.
I have a few other MZ Wallace bags that are about 5 years old. I’ve been pretty rough with those and have taken them on many trips in the past. So far, they’re still holding up really well. I’ll do an updated wear and tear on my entire collection soon!
How do you clean the bag after traveling?
It’s nylon and water resistant so super easy to wipe down with a wet towel or baby wipe.
Hi. How do you find this bag for rainy weather. Would your items get soaked if you got caught in the rain? That is one thing that keeps me from purchasing an MZW. Does that quilting protect much? Thanks.
I have other Mz Wallace bags that I’ve gotten caught in torrential rain before! 🌧️ It’s water resistant but not waterproof so it will definitely soak through if it’s heavy rain. Light drizzle is fine though.
Would this be considered a carry-on or personal item since it does fit under the seat?
I’ve carried this on to flights with my small rolling luggage but it depends on the airline rules.
Have you tried packing Hermes in this travel bag?
Actually, I used my smaller MZ Wallace tote recently to transport my Hermes Kelly.

MZ Wallace takes the win with the extra compartments and overall design but I still love my Tumi tote and highly recommend it. It’s a great pairing bc you can pack the Tumi tote inside the MZ Wallace just in case you need to bring gifts/souvenirs back from your travels! The Tumi tote may fit slightly more actually! It’s quite roomy.
I bought both. One issue. I used my Tumi as a personal item this time. The one models comes with a pocket on the outside which is awesome. Well for security,I put my passport and boarding pass there for easy access. When checked put it there. Well when the bag went through the xray thing they fell. I went crazy for a while looking for passport because it had fallen out. If my Wallace has zipper, winner.
