I was on the AS-33 73-76 in R-1. Mess deck looks much nicer than back then. We started out with dark wood paneling, removed that to kill the cockroaches and cleaned and painted the fiberglass lagging on the bulkheads. We also changed from steel prison plates to fiberglass trays and china plates. I recognize the barber shop, machine shop and the passage around the missile storage. Our berthing was down the hatch in the start of that passageway on the starboard side. I worked in carpenders shop, lagging show and Sheet Metal shop while onboard and left the ship as HT-2. Also spent 2 weeks at sea on the Kamehameha SSBN 642
Mess hall looks like a hotel buffet, only thing the same was the monorails we used to move our torpedoes around to take them off and on the submarines. And, of course, ladies, lots of variety in uniforms as well. Thanks for the visit to the Lake.

The walks down those passageways brings back a lot of memories. Hunley, Simon Lake, and Canopus, early 80s. R3 division.
