- Alan's plans to fish the Ribble were curtailed by foul weather, so he and cameraman Chappy defaulted back to a little gem of a stillwater in Lancashire. In this near 25 minute video, the old maestro reveals a ton of good info' on how to target such venues at this time of year. You may have to watch this tip filled video more than once to grasp all the top advice on offer. Watch and enjoy!

Alan great video, I am going to have a trip over the Pennines to fish in Lancashire again, I first cast a float back the early 1970 catching Roach on the Bridgewater canal, Before moving to Yorkshire and the mighty Swale.
Cracking video, Nice to see silver fish being caught on the waggler. So many commercials concentrate on carp and the pole and method. I even over heard match lads call silver fish nuisance fish. Wish we had more water stocked with silvers in North Yorks. After seeing this video I am going to give my Cadence 14' 2# a go for silvers. Proper fishing.
Thanks guys, another great video from Cadence. I’ve learnt so much from these videos and my fishing has improved no end with all the tips and advice. To cap it all off the videos are always beautifully filmed and well presented. With reference to a previous comment; whilst Alan’s presentation style might not be the most exuberant, his ability to present the all important information in a clear and concise way is undeniable and his passion for our sport shines through in his knowledge and experience. Keep up the great work 👍🏼
Alan's background is in journalism and I would say he is very meticulous in his presentation style just as he is in his writing style. I find him listenable, maybe it's his strong local accent which some may perceive incorrectly as being 'dour' ? (Chappy)
Cadence Fishing UK I doubt he’d remember me but I saw Alan at the 2017 Riverfest final when I was watching James Robbins fish. He’s a bit of a comedian on the quiet and some of his impressions are bang on the money! I think he comes across very well on the videos and enjoy watching him fish.
yes Alan is very droll ;)
really good video, i appreciate that these guys explain everything they do from bait and feeding to tackle set up thoroughly
I know I am kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good site to stream new series online ?
@Justice Korbyn Lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
Going to a similar venue this weekend where pole is usual method. Gonna try waggler as shown. Thanks for a well presented informative video.
barbara james good luck... just remember that the best method is the one that suits the prevailing conditions.
Another great video from Cadence with the Preston bagger Alan Barnes Fishing the waggler, as Alan says unfortunately too many anglers nowadays got “poleitus” and either can’t or don’t know how to fish a waggler. Keep em coming. Tight Lines Steve Amison
Great again
well presented and informative as usual.nice one fella's.
Nice to watch 👍
Gary Keighley cheers
Nice video as usual. Good to see a nice simple method being used. The waggler is such an important method even in this day of using the long pole. All beginners and improvers should watch this! PS I bet Ian didn’t come out from under his umbrella! Tight Lines
Easy Fishing just cleaned the cameras mate....tried to stay under brolly but it's too restrictive. Getting sick of crappy weather 🙄
Cracking video yet again lads, pity we didn't get to see that last day on the river, but another great effort!
"Keep em coming"
paul kozyra cheers Paul....looks like Alan had a bag up session on the final day.....never rains but it pours lol.....timing is everything
Good video. Very informative.
cheers
Been out today doing just the same...started off on pole but switched to float rod/waggler after a bit. Using an old Daiwa 14ft matchliite rod with a D A M Quick reel and size 20 hook.
Caught loads of roach up to 8oz and several F1s, ether on pinkie or pinkie/maggot. Feeding hempseed and pinkies but not much, we didn't need to feed much as the fish just seemed to be there all day. Nice weather, no rain plenty of sun.
Looks like a grim weekend so don't know if I will be out again till Tuesday.
Clive Bindley keep on trucking mate, sounds hugely enjoyable.
I will, as soon as this new arctic weather system is over!
Big fan of Cadence several rods. Just a question, would a shorter rod have been a benefit on the day, say 11' waggler rod?
My respect! Kaifa! Well, clearly! Chucha!
Not a lot of honor to catch a fish in a puddle! Catch 1-2 kg. in a river!
Lot better looking than James lol
cruel lol
A decent video but a bit of enthusiasm wouldn’t have gone a miss.....
Hi Darren, it's easy to be critical it seems these days at the stroke of a few keys, but a few thoughts from me....I would say Alan did very well considering the tough conditions he faced and the short window of filming we had on a thoroughly miserable day. It's only his third video so there's a lot to learn about presenting. I believe his level of enthusiasm was more than adequate and informative. Some people have a natural effervescent demeanor which lends itself to presenting on TV/CZcams, other people are more matter of fact. I suppose my final point would be that before being critical, one should ask oneself if one could do any better? If so, then show the world those skills, if not then perhaps don't be too quick to point a finger. I hope you can accept my reply since I believe your statement requires one. All the best. Chappy.
ian chapman I appreciate what your saying, however surely criticism helps to create a better product in the long run, if everyone is saying good things regardless of the product then how can improvements be made? If the individual presenting doesn’t have a ‘natural effervescent demeanour’ then maybe he isn’t the best man to put in front of the camera? It’s clear by your response that you are not open to criticism and so I shall refrain from commenting in future. All the best
Darren Woolley hi Darren feel free to offer constructive criticism. In a public forum opinion is just that. In my opinion Alan came across very well, so it's just a matter of opinion and that's fine. All the best.
Sound knowledge, the ability to communicate it and angling skill, are what is needed for a presentation like this. Alan Barnes has all that, and a heap of it.
