I truly believe continuing to talk about books is one of the best ways to honour Alice. Sending everyone lots of ❤❤❤

Thank you for your remembrance of Alice at the start of the video. I really enjoyed watching her videos and thought it was so wonderful that you organized those BookTuber meetups in London so you could all meet, have a meal together and do some book shopping. Glad you got to meet her on a few occasions! Thanks for sharing your reading! Take care.

    Hi Katie.
    I hope you are well.
I feel sorry for Alice, she was a great inspiration.
Whenever I finish a classic book, I'm very happy to hear your impressions of it. I'm currently reading David Copperfield, and my God, Dickens was simply THE BEST.
I would like to say that his channel is an incredible inspiration for me, especially to train and improve my English. I really want to visit England soon.
A big hug from São Paulo, Brasil ❤😊

I still can't believe Alice passed away. My first thoughts when I hear the sad news were for her mom, Alice always talked about her and I can't imagine how devastated she must be. And then I thought on Jennifer Brooks, this year is certainly being hard with this community. I can now watch Jennifer's videos and feel grateful for her legacy, I haven't yet tried to watch some of Alice's. It's too sad.

It's definitely been a tough year in this corner of Booktube.

The human drama constantly unfolds for all of us, and your comments about Alice is a reminder of Donne’s quote: “No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main…any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee.” I appreciated your heart-felt remarks. You wetted my appetite for The Square of Sevens, just one of many suggestions I need to purchase and read. Thanks, Katie, you’re appreciated!

The shock of Alice’s death hit me. It must be hundred times worse for the booktubers who got to meet her. I loved her self deprecating humour about the TBR that grew despite how much she read.

I read Beach Read years ago and then I was having a slumpy hard June so I read four of her novels. I especially loved Funny Story that follows a children's librarian. I am not much of romance reader in general but because I was liking Emily Henry I also picked up Abby Jimenez and she has a really good balance of romance and other things, they all kind of include family/community and have mental health or disability rep which I apperciated.
I love Wandering Souls so much and I'm so glad you loved it.

I need to read more Emily Henry! I'll have to put Abby Jimenez on my list, too.

Liz Nugent is an Irish writer who seems to be a lovely woman. I don’t know if I’m brave enough to read her book.
The best novel I read in May was
The Mars House by Natasha Pulley
    Thanks to your recommendation

How to solve your own murder sounds like a good time. I’m also curious about Strange Sally Diamond because I’ve seen it likened to Eleanor Oliphant. Sending you lots of love Katie. ♥️

I think there are some similarities in a few ways between Strange Sally Diamond and Eleanor Oliphant, although Strange Sally Diamond is much, much darker.

@@kevinrussell-jp6om well thank you: I've always liked that John Donne poem, partially because so many people immediately associate it with the Hemmingway novel. It reminds a little of a time someone tried to explain to me the meaning of Steinbeck's title "Of Mice and Men" without ever having heard of the Scottish poet Robert Burns.

@@jamesduggan7200 To a James: Leave it to a Scot to mention Robbie Burns. My maternal grandmother was a MacQuarrie, and she looked and acted the part. And I had an English teacher that loved and made us aware of John Donne poetry before I ever read Hemingway.
His "For Whom the Bell Tolls", however, IS great and right up there with The Son Also Rises. Hem fished the titles for many of his books from clever and deep places, even from way out in the Gulf Stream.

CZcams keeps feeding me Alice's videos which is great but also saddens me.
I've got 'The Square of Sevens' I'm going to take it away with me on holiday I think.
