    I shot weddings for 10 years on my Bronica SQ-A kit and the 220 rolls were essential for those kinds of events. I had two 220 backs and only one 120 insert as I almost never used 120. Everything was available in 220! I miss Fuji Reala and the Portra emulsions, NC - ‘natural color’ and VC - ‘vivid color’, both of which were in my mind, superior to the current Portra line. Perhaps because I wasn’t digitizing anything then and the excellent wet lab I was using (Photic in San Diego, CA, now defunct) was awesome and always made beautiful proofs and final prints from my negs. Good times!

    Hi Nico! I've been using the Bellini HC ever since I hear the rumours of HC-110 being discontinued. It's less syrupy than the Kodak's version so I'm not sure if you can store it for a long time but I'm getting excellent results both in the standard 1+31 and the 1+63 dilution. The negatives come very similar compared to HC-110, with maybe a bit more shadow detail but they are still easy to print. Cheers!

    Reflex 220 film is repackaged Kodak Aerocolor. It lacks conventional masking (the orange background) of conventional color negative film. Therefore, it should scan okay with some scanner adjustments, but without masking, it's a poor negative material for RA-4 printing, as the accuracy of the color reproduction should be quite off.

  • @BradleySwainAwesome
    @BradleySwainAwesome Před 10 měsíci +9

    It seems like CineStill is being disingenuous but truthful. "We didn't sue anyone" is different from "we didn't threaten legal action". "We have legal rights to the copyright of 800T" is the answer to a different question than "should it be copyrightable?" Legality and morality are not the same thing.

    • @flynnbrowning5685
      @flynnbrowning5685 Před 10 měsíci +4

      Exactly. Everything they are doing is “legal”, but beyond morally wrong, and any defense they provide is uprooted by their initial push to call 400D “400Dynamic” but implying the D , or the trialing letter ISN’T a reference to white balance.
      Regardless of whether they have the right to defend a trademark is a total distraction from the fact that they should never have even applied for it.
      Additionally, calling over vendors of quite literally identical film in the most literal and technical way names like “counterfeit” is a bold faced lie, and the root of why people are boycotting cinestill.
      Their behavior is nauseating, unacceptable, and intolerable. No one cares about “their legal rights”.

    • @rossawilson01
      @rossawilson01 Před 10 měsíci

      Your morals are just that, your morals, and morality and the law aren't the same thing. Some people think forcing underage children to carry rape babies to term is morally correct - companies operate in legal frameworks not moral ones because moral ones are different for different people. Which is why it has to be settled by what's legal. And IP is everything in this day and age and protecting it is what companies must do to survive, it's what all the other corporations do whose products I'm sure you love and use daily. So expecting a small film manufacturer to abide by your particular morals seems utterly ridiculous. What is immoral to me is to punish a small company by slating them online because they don't specifically abide by your morals, especially when their actions have little consequence to others except getting them to change their name and follow laws everyone has to.

  • @andyvan5692
    @andyvan5692 Před 10 měsíci

    yes, Nico, the harman technologies\ilford branding is confusing; from my understanding, looking at the products, etc. the Harman brand is for the Hardware, aka the stirring sticks, tents, beakers, pinhole cameras,etc. Ilford does the paper, film stock & chemistry kits, but is just a division of Harman, just like Rolls Royce, one sector for cars, the other for jets, or mitsubishi for cars and white goods and electrical breakers, HV systems, etc. just as a way of separating what each does, so the public can ring the division directly, no massive switchboard to confuse people, get to the right place for inquiries fast.

      @@CrispyFrenFryFrankly there isn't much to know. soon as still confirmed that they were granted a trademark on the term 800T. The trademark is garbage and should not have been granted. They can no more trademark 800T then Shell gasoline could trademark 10W-30, or Ford could trademark V8, or Duracell could trademark AA. These technical descriptions are not available for trademark, and the government made a mistake. If cinestil is challenged by anyone in court, they will immediately lose the trademark on 800T. The courtwood, however, affirm the trademark on the name "Cinestill".
      There's not much more to tell. when cat Labs responded with their lawyer, they stated as much, and said if they are sued, they would fight it in court and get the trademark revoked. That is almost certainly why Cinestill chose not to file suit. However, The small mom and pop film companies don't have the capability to fight back with lawyers and so they have been shut down on eBay and experienced dramatic harm from Cinestill's trademark abuse.
