I agree. I forget the lesd singer's name but he imo is one of the all time greatest vocalist ever
Michael Barnes. He's my vocal idol. I've learned tons of singing techniques from him. When I start my own band I will always cite Red as my main inspiration.
See, this is why I love Red. They beautifully blend soft and heavy like it's nothing. I love it!
I just love the metaphor of 'Gravity' he uses in this song. The whole point of gravity, is to pull you back down. He uses this metaphor at it's finest (In my opinion) in the final chorus (at 4:00 to 4:23 ) by saying that your gravity (Your pull on me) dies, saying that you can't control me anymore, you can't pull me down with you

I didn't even realize how wrong I've had the lyrics of my favorite album of all time for all this time. I knew the concept of the album, and saw how everything fit...except for this song. The other songs lyrics I had wrong didn't change the meaning of the song for me, but this one...it finally makes sense.
Here's what _I_ thought the chorus was:
"Find, while I'm alive

I know its in time

You can see why it didn't make sense to me in the concept now, can't you

What I like about their songs is that even if they are Christian BASED, you don't have to interpret their songs as so, they have this vagueness to them. Being an atheist, I admire that. Unlike Skillet, where it feels like they're beating it over everyones head that they're singing about Christianity, I can't look past it. That doesn't apply to every Skillet song, but a majority of them.

I can't scream like that but, instead of destroying my vocal chords, I just deepen my singing voice a bit, it may not sound like the screaming but it win being unable to talk because you screamed too much.
Actually screaming doesn't destroy your vocal chords if you do it properly. I've been screaming for almost 4 years and I can still talk fine.

It'd be my pleasure to explain. I'll give you the quick version. This song speaks directly from many people's lives. From mine. This song is about depression, suicide, and the twisted world they create in the mind.
In my earlier teen years, I suffered severe depression, and it brought me _down_. In a matter of months after a shameful event in my life, I began to self harm. A year later it had reached it's climax when I was cutting a cross in my wrist and I "accidentally" cut a vein. I used quotations cause I really didn't mind that I had. This is the incredible part, I was sure God didn't love me and I was worthless, as I sat and watched myself bleed. But then, somehow, before I could black out like I wanted to, the bleeding just STOPPED. I don't know what anatomy classes _you_ took, but bleeding arteries don't just STOP bleeding when pressure and bandages couldn't even do anything. This is where I realized God did care. This is where the world of "LIES!" began to break down and I begin to find that the darkness I had found comfort in was really bringing me down like gravity, where I fought to find that place where GRAVITY DIES!"
