RIGA has the MOST UNIQUE Playstyle in Eu4! Eu4 1.35 (Mission Tree Only)

- Hello fellow chairs! Today is the long awaited Mission Tree Only for Riga. This is one of the most unique campaigns to do as Riga is made for playing EXTREMELY tall with one province or at most five provinces. The city of Riga receives absurd buffs towards tax, dev, goods produced, and trade.
Riga's early game can be pretty rough, however, once you vassalize both orders, you have your "bodyguards" for the rest of the game that field decent amount of troops of really good quality.
If you're looking for a nation with a completely unique playstyle that no other nation in EU4 has, then Riga is for you.
As always, hope you all enjoy and let me know in the comment section what nations you would like to see done for MTO.

Riga is ironically easier than Livonian Order
I think so too just because of the confedacy issue LO has to deal with
@@thechairmangamesI feel it’s also because it’s hard to expand when all your neighbors usually are stronger than you and everything is time sensitive due to the inevitable polish invasion of the Teutonic order and potential Russian expansion.
LO is more versatile tho.
EU4 should have more missions or subject interactions that create confederacies like this Baltic one. For instance, I would like to see Poland have the option to divide Lithuania into two with Lithuania holding on to the Byelorussians with a new Ruthenian subject being created in the east.
I think this is a great idea to prevent key subjects from getting to be too powerful and it technically makes the overlord stronger as it's extra troops and manpower
Also Riga is the best one-province march you can ever imagine.
I must say I have been searching for somebody who would play by the mission tree, and I am not disappointed
Glad to hear!
The modifiers Riga gets from its missions are insane! They definitely take playing tall to a whole new level
It's Skyscraper building while everyone is figuring out how to add another floor
I just found you and you're awesome! I like this mission tree only series and your narrating is relaxing
Thank you and welcome my fellow chair!
Nice format. Seeing the game played via mission tree only is entertaining. Thanks!
Thank you!
Thank you for using the soft A, people always be throwing around the hard R with that country
I agree this is one of the most unique mission trees, however I am really disappointed you don't get the option to change the trade good in Riga to something better(similar to Luebecks mission)
Naval supplies is a really shitty trade good and its feels like you are wasting a lot of the productions efficiency and other similar bonuses you get.
For real, at the very least it should be something slightly better or maybe they should produce paper if pdx wants to make Riga more OP
It should produce Paper via MT tbh
I really dislike Lübeck getting Gold, though. Means you constantly are at danger of having the production dev of your most developed province halved. Should've been Iron or Paper instead.
im gonna lose it at how you say Riga, other then that great video
Sorry 🥲
Lol I left a reply with the proper pronunciation before seeing this comment. Gan jau iemācīsies čalis :)
Love this series. Do Tibet next!
I will be doing a Tibet video soon!
@@thechairmangames if u can, keep the capital in Lhasa, keep vajrayana, keep theocratic (no horde) , and take all of China! I’ve tried so many times and never have been able to
@@thechairmangames subbed so can’t wait to see!
i love ur videos
Thank you!
8:57 Girly cough??! Whilst i watch a precious EU4 video??
Must have been my daughter I didn't notice that before 😅
Heads up, we pronounce it like "Reega", as in "regal", but with a long "e".
Dude stays in the Lubeck trade league... shocked that he has no trade power in Lubeck node
Yeah that was kind of a oversight on my part
when i tried riga i expanded my territories because the livonian order idea really sucks and i hate have them as a subject and i was really happy because i could form livonia after that
LO ideas are kinda meh as you said, but definitely good if you're playing a religious conquest kind of game. But man Livonias ideas are amazing 👏
Navorra next pls
It encourages you to play with 5 European cities & a bunch of vassals/trade companies/colonies Amsterdam, Riga, Gotland, Swellden, London are the best 5 cities getting a monument in each one with a level 3 trade port (Livoians, Teutons, Lubeck, Hamburg, Holland, Flanders, Brabant are all great vassals) with either London or Amsterdam as your main Trade City to get in the English Channel as your home node... then expand outside of European Region which doesn't affect your bonuses. Trade Ideas are absolute trash for Riga... Exploration is where it is at to start expanding outside of Europe (though releasing Novogrod as vassal, returning their cores then expanding outside of Europe eastwards is also a viable option.)
This is true! As I mentioned in my closing that Riga is super tall nation built around such a small amount of provinces. It is very different, even in regular tall gameplay you expand more and more of course, but Riga it discourages it because the one city is so good. Unfortunately it's MTO so I'm only able to take what I get claims on 🥲
I opted for Riga (obviously), Neva, Visby, Sjælland and London. I temporarily held Novgorod as well in order to culture convert Neva for the monument. London luckily already had Stonehenge by the time I took it. I had virtually infinite ducats by 1550.
Riga 💪
Riga the economic beast!
Did you upgrade your trade port by the end?
Yes it was a world port by the end
I tried Riga
After several restarts because TO allied denmark, Poland declaring on me right after I subjugate TO or LO being guranteed by Moscowy(for some goddman reason) I lost any hope for normal Riga campane
I find it easiest to ally Austria or Muscovy to deter Poland from invasion by setting yourself threatened by them. Also, the TO war I wait till they're already getting beat up or until Denmark is fighting a hard war
The Video is Cool, but the Cutting in Sentences sounds awkward
Can you do zoroastrian persia or Gujrat and for rajputana
Persia I will hold off on until the next Middle-East Update comes out just because they have like 4 missions, but I'd definitely do a general playthrough as.
Gujarat is a great suggestion!
The most innovative and unique ways to play eu4 I ever tried was in the Anbennar mod. Dwarven holds in the mountais are fantastic, and nations like ‘Road Warrior’, Frosthide ogres, push the boundaries for what my imagination could ever think of
I think your beginning estates are far from optimal - just give out two +1 mana privileges, seize land, and get something like religious culture to go to 0 Crownland. Of course your goal is to finish "The Citiy against the state" fast, for what you need 1 stab, 15 dev and 30% Crownland. You can get all of this by august 1445 (because of needed mana), if you go to 0 crownland, because "Estate Statutory Rights". Noone ever clicks this, because it is bad - unless you play as a OPM, then it is beyond overpowered. It does not effect you at all, other than giving you 30% Crownland for free and 10 Clergy influence.
First😊
My guy, please it's pronounced reega
Thanks, I figured its pronounced just how it's spelled but I'll make sure I call it Reega from now on
@@thechairmangamesIt _is_ pronounced the way it's written (the real spelling is Rīga), we say the word the same way we pronounce the letters. English, due to French influence probably, doesn't lend itself well to that. Bomb/tomb/comb and the like, whereas in Latvian krēsls/mēsls is pronounced in the same way. Galds/kalts, glāze/vāze, etc. If most of the letters match, it'll rhyme. Cheers from Riga.
My dude, I don't know if you're usually filming these videos in one go, but there's a pattern where your nose gets super stuffy about halfway through the video. Maybe you could consider using some nasal spray or filming in separate instances
