I never knew what exactly the villain Deku AU was until I watched this video. I knew it was a popular AU, but I never knew at what point he became a villain in it, or any of the specifics, but now I get it completely. Or at least I get how he falls into villainy. Great video!
This villain AU is like "what happens if deku never met all might"" or "what would have happened if the sludge monster didn't escaped?" There's like two different paths he would have taken in the canon series, one which is being a villain and the other being a hero. It's kinda scary and sad when you think about it, cuz he would have became a villain in the canon series.
I'm not entirely sure when or how it takes place, since everyone seems to have their own version of it?

Midoriya grew up as a quirkless boy. Despite being quirkless, he always did work hard to become a hero and there was always someone he could look up to, Bakugou and All Might. Bakugou and Izuku were childhood friends. Bakugou inspires him and he wants to become someone as strong as Katsuki himself. ever since Katsuki told deku to swan dive off the roof, Deku has always been thinking to himself "Will i actually be good enough? even if im quirkless? Is he right? should i just give up?" from the beginning, all that katsuki has done was discourage him. not only katsuki but all might too after telling deku that he cant be a hero. Deku stayed miserable and gave up on the whole hero thing. Life kept getting harder by the second until it got to the point where Izuku actually kills himself only to find out that he has came back to life into a new version him. A villain.

Fr tho, all these villain deku au just makes me appreciate the real deku even more. Where he actually get to chase his dreams and be happy after all those years of bullying and being made fun of just because he's quirkless. He never let all of that to actually get to him. He always looks forward and hopes for better days. I admire him for that.

I usually don't like villain deku because it goes against deku's ideals far too much, but I like this villain deku because it shows how much it broke izuku's heart. I think a lot of villain au's forget that izuku still has the ideals that he had as a child, but now he just can't see any way to make them happen except turn to the dark side or become a vigilante- who eventually gets a bit too close to the evil side of things for the 'greater good' of his morals.
sorry for the speech but yeah. this was really good. time to watch it 15 more times
Some of the lyrics were a bit forced to fit with villain Deku but these ones were spot on:
- "fighting for the title" (like, you know, the title of n.1 hero)
- "burning up a Bible" (the animation makes it work, like he considered his studies as the Bible but ended up burning them after the encounter with All Might)
- "the wasted years, the wasted youth..." (as above, years spent studying heroes and dreaming of becoming one)
- "...the ugly truth" (All Might telling him he can't be a hero)
- "only to find I've come alive" (he feels like he found his purpose in life by becoming a villain)
Great job, both for the animation and the idea itself, very creative!
