Honest answer: because the government usually buys the cheapest shit possible for the troops that will suffice, or the bid goes to the contractor that pays the generals the most. Cops, on the other hand, have to/get to buy much of their own gear (depending on the department). It’s the same reason SEALs and Delta have better gear. They get to pick their gear, so they get the best. With regular grunts, they just get what the military decided will work best for everyone. Usually that’s gear that was designed 10-20 years ago because it had to go through a 5 year bid, trial, and build up phase. By the time the troops get it, it’s old technology. And the military isn’t going to upgrade 7 year old gear that still works because they have to outfit hundreds of thousands of soldiers.

I guess everyone here got their special forces training at the spec-Ed national training center.
Vests are ALREADY designed this way. The previous version used by the military comes apart and you have to spend goddamn 3 hours trying to weave the metal wiring back through it to get it back together.
I assume this is still using the metal wire, but just squeezes the clips at the end of the wire kinda like bicycle brakes. This saves SO much time on reassembly. This is an amazing upgrade over the previous version. I hope the military upgrades.

Policeman do die. That does not mean they become militarize towards the civilian population. There are risk when you take a high-risk job. Fireman, they die. If you don't like the risk then don't take a risky occupation. If. Cops Wanna Be soldiers so bad then join the military, they have that option to be that brave. There's a difference, a huge difference. This I know.
