Finally had the chance to use these live, which in my opinion is the true test. Everyone was commenting on how good the drums sounded. Natural, not over processed which is what drives me nuts about electronic drums. I love the ease and simplicity of using them live, with this pack I finally feel like I’ve achieved my sound with minimal tweaking after purchase. Luke, you knocked it out of the park.
@@junak2003 Thanks brother. I just bought eDWs Big Bundle Pack and it includes these premium kits - I'm gonna give the direct dry a go this weekend's gigs as well. Just gotta tweak a few cymbals to my liking otherwise I love both the Yamaha and Starphonic kits!!

Spent a bit of time with these kits now Luke - very impressed! I favour the dry kits, but that's mainly as I use my TD-50(X) for recording. Great work as always :-)
Thank you, glad you're liking them! Turning the Room ambience off on the other kits can get good results too, if that's your thing, though they do have a little baked in ambience!
Excellent work Luke. I’ve been very hesitant to upgrade and lose my gigging kits! Your overall thoughts on the update? How much better in your opinion?
Thank you! I will be updating the others in due time! I'm liking the 50X upgrade. It's mostly improved, with a couple of things I think I preferred before. The additional sounds are overall great and it's really good to have more options all round. Everything generally just sounds and feels cleaner, often feeling a bit more present and the kicks in particular have way more meat to them. The Overheads function is just as useful as I find it on the TD-27. The extra functions are great for workflow (I did a breakdown video of those a bit ago so won't go too deep on that here). The "downsides" for me are that, while the selection of snares was weird on the original TD-50, a couple of them had some pretty wild overtones that were fun to play with. The versions of those snares in the 50X are tamer - more full, but cleaner as I mentioned earlier. For most people this will be better, but I eventually warmed to that crazy ring on some of them. Not a deal breaker by any means. I think the cymbals used to sound a bit more full and wide too. Again, they're cleaner now and there's way more choice, but I was struggling to replicate it. Using the right overheads settings gets close, but it's not the same. However, again, it's a pretty small thing and in context when playing, none of this really matters or feels wrong, just different. Being able to A/B the sounds with a borrowed module is a bit of a double edged sword haha!

Which version(s) of the kits did you use live? The direct-dry, roomy, or processed one?
