Bubba was a goddamn razor on that 125. So sad that the two strokes were kinda phased out of racing... I love my four strokes, but that whine was one of the best sounds in motocross.
i love how people say "that things got one of them powerbands dont it" lol. every engine has a powerband. a power band is the horsepower-to-rpm arc peak where the engine produces the most horsepower, but it's more noticeable on a 2stroke because the arc is so steep that the power hits you all of a sudden out of nowhere. and also if you take a 2stroke and 4stroke both with the same displacement, the 2stroke will always have more power. thats why they built a 250 4stroke to beat the 125 2strokes
Stewart could ride that 125 way over it's capabilities. Not like the 450's which he can sometimes let get the better of him. I remember some races where he posted faster lap times on the 125 than the 250/450 guys were. That included Ricky and Chad. Roncoda became addicted to pain pills (or something like that) and retired from racing. Now he works for a software company. I really liked his riding though. BRINGBACKTHE2SMOKE!!
yyyeeeaaahhhh BABY!!!! come back to watch this again and see the thumbs up....i see it. AINT NO SECRET who is the best....JAMES STEWART. I STUDY HIS STYLE EVERY DAY!!!!!! Especially the 2 stroke riding.
A top-notch nail-biter indeed! But the fact that James Stewart wins races with 4-strokes as well only proves that the rider is the biggest factor in motocross performance. What's that? He was on a 125 while the rest of the field was on 250's? Never mind.
@dtkiko well i was talkin bout the 250 2 stroke..... an i know the 2 stroke is the same as the 4 stroke........ but it dnt matter to me really i love both.... they are so fun to ride hope the 2 strokes never die.
Its sad for sure to not see the 2 strokes out there on the highest level, but rumors and talk have the last months been about 250 2 strokes going to compete in the 250F nationals, but it´s not going to be that way, cause Kawasaki dont have a 250 2 stroke anymore, Either do Honda, either do Suzuki, The japanese factories have to start making them again if that should be a statement. But long live the 2 stroke :) anyway! True mx fans love the 2 strokes!
Excactly, The procircuit had the 250f , and their bike was on the dyno , stronger for sure. but still james bike was tuned for him and it was a factory race machine, he could ride a 125 to it´s full potential , like no one else could back then, when he rode a 250 F at glen helen same year he said, was i even racing out there , so much better was hes thought about the 250F power. But as a fan of motocross, i admit i loved to see the 250F got smoked by a 125 2 smoke!
Seriously two strokes are the way to go sure they might not be as "reliable" as 4 strokes but they are way lighter and faster, and plus a shit ton of fun to ride
i guess you havent seen the pros take the older 2 stroke bikes and race them in the pro classes against 450s and win. you should get out more often. steve lamson even did it.
Not even close dude, it didnt have horse power of a 250 F four stroke today, James actually said himself he had to race that machine to the full edge cause it was so slow, and he have nightmares about the 250 2 stroke he rode 05, sure this 125 was great in is day, but it was no way as powerful as a big 250 2 stroke even if it was tuned factory.
if you like motocross you should say you enjoy booth ? 2 strokes are cool for sure, the sound is great and they are fun to ride, but the four is the way of the future, no matter what, it´s the AMA´s and the japanese factorys fault.
Of course a 250 2 stroke can smoke a 250F ? There is way more power in the 250 2 stroke, but the traction is not the same right? And we have not to forget, its about the man on the machine to.
there is any 250 fourstroke that makes more power than a 250 2 stroke. People dont understand that ,these factory bikes may have more horsepower, and are damn fast, but they are also more rideable and mellower and have imidietly throttle respons, we cant compare a stock bike and a race bike of factorys, cause a stock bike is harder to rider than their bikes are, but you still have to be good enough to race a full ace bike cause is so stiff suspension ways.
who is here in 2021 and watch the legend stewart and miss him and the two strokes in racing?
24
Bubba was a goddamn razor on that 125. So sad that the two strokes were kinda phased out of racing... I love my four strokes, but that whine was one of the best sounds in motocross.
That's right
I honestly think if stewart was on a 4 stroke he would have won easily. He is makin that 125 go as fast as it will possibly go...
It takes so much more work to make that 2 stroke run at that pace, too.
That's such an ill-advised comment. James chose the two stroke. He didn't have to ride it. He believed he was faster on it than the 250f.
@@TheShepdawg9 damn right he did, but it also shows how much experience n love js had on that bike. No one else was close enough
glen helen he rode a 4 stoke and greased everyone
How would people react if some dude suddenly wins a 250 moto with a 125 today hahah
The nostalgia that comes from that sound and quality. Takes me back
Stewart is a beast
i love how people say "that things got one of them powerbands dont it" lol. every engine has a powerband. a power band is the horsepower-to-rpm arc peak where the engine produces the most horsepower, but it's more noticeable on a 2stroke because the arc is so steep that the power hits you all of a sudden out of nowhere. and also if you take a 2stroke and 4stroke both with the same displacement, the 2stroke will always have more power. thats why they built a 250 4stroke to beat the 125 2strokes

this might be the best video ever
Who could possibly dislike this...
Great battle! Not to mention Stewart’s on a 125 and everyone else is on 250s. Damn that kid can ride!
Dios mio una delas mejores carreras del motocross
yyyeeeaaahhhh BABY!!!! come back to watch this again and see the thumbs up....i see it. AINT NO SECRET who is the best....JAMES STEWART. I STUDY HIS STYLE EVERY DAY!!!!!! Especially the 2 stroke riding.
thats good racing right there!!!
gotta say that the 2004 Kawasaki KX125 will always be my favorite 2stroke motocross bike... and i've rode a lotta different bikes
These announcers are so much better than todays
thanks for posting, wish james had the same drive to win these days, and I wish I was in the sport back then.
Roncada is not paralysed. He hurt his back
and was addicted to pain killers.
He is fine now.
i love this damn race..
if only every race could b like this
James should go back riding 2-stroke!
He's just BRILLIANT!
That 125 piston must of been hammered what a rider
dont forget the second place man for the overall that day, Ryan Hughes on a 125 2 stroke KTM ;)
I wish we can see a battle like these this year
1:47 that pass was amazing!
james' dad saw the best races in motocross
nope.. got hooked on pain killers bacause of a back injury.. he's a photographer and video game designer now.
A top-notch nail-biter indeed!

What's that? He was on a 125 while the rest of the field was on 250's?

say thank-you to Roncada for this awesome battle
damn that was a classic. Rare to see that many pass backs
best battle i have seen for a while! awsome
2stokes rule!
@dtkiko well i was talkin bout the 250 2 stroke..... an i know the 2 stroke is the same as the 4 stroke........ but it dnt matter to me really i love both.... they are so fun to ride hope the 2 strokes never die.
Two stroke power 💨💨
Thanks for watching Brett!
Long live the 2 stroke !!
did you get this video off of a dvd or somewhere on the internet?
I would have liked to see Stewart and Carmichael race 125s 1 on 1. Who would win???
Miss the 2 strokes, much more exiting to watch and they sound much cooler than a sow grunting 4 stroke!
I'm related to all Stewart's.
Excactly, The procircuit had the 250f , and their bike was on the dyno , stronger for sure. but still james bike was tuned for him and it was a factory race machine, he could ride a 125 to it´s full potential , like no one else could back then, when he rode a 250 F at glen helen same year he said, was i even racing out there , so much better was hes thought about the 250F power. how did 4 people NOT like this?
he was 18. he turned pro at 16 in 2002, this is 2004
Good luck, you will have the best time of your life.
thanks. haha i like the way u put a 250f vs 250 2 stroke haha hopefully next year
This was very impressive
7:56
thats how i would like stewart to ride these days.
you have a vast knowledge of the obvious, thank you
Don't show the finish or what happened to Roncoda?
awsome race
Seriously two strokes are the way to go sure they might not be as "reliable" as 4 strokes but they are way lighter and faster, and plus a shit ton of fun to ride
wow that 125 sounds goooooood!
18, he went pro at 16 in '02
I can't even explain the feeling when I hear that. 2 stroke reving to the max I don't know
Very exciting tho
ahhh the good ol days man.....why cant stewart be like this now
He was 18. He is pretty fast. Good race
@jamesktmbrown YUP YUP testify! i just got a 2006 cr 125 and i love it!
wicked race
classic race
does ama still host 2-stroke races anymore? i hate having to buy a 250 when i could keep up with any 250f on a 125 =\
i love the way bubba rides that 125 he is fast
nice, when are they making the class change to AMA ??
@TheCostOfLife how did you copy it i also would like to copy it to my comp but i dont no how
did you watch him win the monster cup last night ? hes still got it
2-stroke power!
i guess you havent seen the pros take the older 2 stroke bikes and race them in the pro classes against 450s and win.
you should get out more often. steve lamson even did it.
He's ok they both doubled.
Bubba brought in the crowd after RC and Bubba retired less people came lol
My 2003 KX 125 procircuit went harder than two fiftys and four fiftys
somebody give stewart a 125 to ride geez
Cool vid!
@jossball
whoa haha ur starting of with that powerful of a bike?! bad ass man haha
If you have to get a new cylinder you should think about getting a big bore kit :)
its a state in southwestern United States
awwh man this was before stewart got his legendary speed... still frackin fast though heh
no sir... thank YOU for pointing out the obvious
Wow, Bubba is the best!!!
They allow 2 strokes to race in AMA still.

Merican icon #7..there is only 1
7:52 holy shit!!!!!!
Dont see him these dayz but i see bubba hahaha
Wish they would have 200 and 400 cc 2 strokes to race against the 4 strokes but Honda, etc, makes more money on the 4 stroke
he looks faster back then. maby he should try some two pokeing again? he has alot more style here.
he was workin his ass to win this race.nice job.
Of course a 250 2 stroke can smoke a 250F ? There is way more power in the 250 2 stroke, but the traction is not the same right? And we have not to forget, its about the man on the machine to.
Yes, I thinked on Fonseca... Sorry
2 stroke 2 stroke 2 stroke 2 stroke 2 stroke!!!!!!!!
rocada is on speed here all druged up
yo got that right
there is any 250 fourstroke that makes more power than a 250 2 stroke. Thats sick but his 125 is so pimped it almost has as much hp as a 250 2-stroke
No way. Yeppers the 2-stroke is faster than the fart Bike 4-stroke if you can ride a 2-stroke.
Nope, he was 18........his b-day is in Dec.
ow old is bubba there?
Bubba fastest 2 stroke rider!
@jamesktmbrown same man i ride a cr125!
if JS had switched to a 4-stroke he would've pulled away, easy!
@jossball If you are new to motocross and start out on a 250 2 stroke you will kill oyurself!
