  • Check out James Stewart battle Stefan Everts in the 2006 Motocross of Nations |MXON|. Stefan Everts announced a day before the race that this would be the last race in his incredible career. James Stewart just came off a tough Outdoor season in the US where he battled Ricky Carmichael. Carmichael was injured at the last round in the US at Glen Helen, which forced him to sit out this years Motocross of Nations.     Everts had a very smooth, certain riding style, while Bubba has more risky, aggressive, win or crash riding.Two different motocross attitudes- thats the magic of mxon. Rest in Peace Joel Robert, the father of Belgium motocross...

    Loved this battle and Stewarts determination.
    Everts is still the greatest GP rider for a reason and so...so technical.

      @@harrykuiper7500 No. Everts lost to Emig in 97 straight up, and Emig was sick. Emig 1-1. Everts struggled racing in the top 5 and freely admitted that the U.S. were more aggressive. FYI, no one will suggest that Emig was better than Carmichael.

    To see Everts and RC chatting on the podium at the end with little Liam was a proper moment for the history of the sport.

      Yeah chatting and laughing at the public how they put on a good show why you think Stewart keeps hes helmet on its was a ritual everts=1and Stewart 1 =duality black and white good and bad etc and the COLOURS they are wearing add to the spell also SCRIPTED reality!!

    Everts style saves so much energy he looks effortless, light, feet up on the pegs hardly ever a foot out ,Bubba just a madman riding possessed awesome !!

      If you'd just look at Stefans body language when he was riding, you'd think he was going really slow, looks so calm and effortless. And as you said, if you then look at James, you see the speed he's trying to handle in his body language.

    Everts style is very smooth and he conserves energy for the full moto. He races with his head, always in control and within his limits. The others are knackered towards the end and make mistakes.

      That everts bike was awesome works bike, mechanic said that the gearbox is built the way so he can ride whole moto in 3rd gear. If I remember right it was 490cc or so also, no production rules in mxgp like ama had before 86.

      Not true. He raced in U.S. Motocross in 97. He went down in both Moto's while racing in the top 5. Emig won the overall while sick, 1-1.

    The difference in corner techniques is insane. And I wouldn't expect anything less from Bubba, laying down scorching lap times until the roof caves in

    I was at this race, it's was incredible especially cairolis run on later on in the day sone great racing and memories 👌🏼

      They didn't seem to have the struggle over in europe with the ktms, those bikes won races in mxgp.

    After watching racing riding and being all things Moto for 19 years I’ve finally formed my opinion on JS he always matched or beat people’s corner speed/whoop speed/ straight aways speed.. but where he always get people is in the air the guy not so simply beat his opponents by his jump speed for the most part. Truly amazing to see

    A nice, tricky 2-stroke track. Not nearly as fast as the dirty road race courses today.

    I would love to know what Bubba was thinking. I’m sure they told him before race and on pit board to secure Win for team over beating Everts but Bubba had to be tempted to take chances for the Moto win

    Everts passing JS7 over and over usually on the outside, usually standing up... all this on his retirement day while Bubba was pretty much on his absolute prime!

      That was stews first year on the 450. Not sure how that could be considered his prime especially when he went perfect in the us 2 years later.

    carmichael beat Everts easily with a Honda 250 cr 2-stroke. Bubba can't even follow him.

    MXGP tacks lack flow. Riders are forced to case doubles because they’re spaced too far apart. It’s much less enjoyable to watch.

      The tracks are not suppose to "flow". They are suppose to separate the talent, and it is best when nobody has it wired. I don't know what it is about the newer generations who think everybody should be the same speed. That destroys the minds of the most talented. Roczen is a good example.

      @@EarthSurferUSA New generation? I’m 47, and nowhere in my comment did I say the tracks were supposed to flow, I merely gave my opinion. But Spring Creek flowed, and how many guys did you see up front? Talent will always rise to the top regardless of track layout.
