- This video will walk you through a simple sequence to learn the kettlebell swing. If you're just getting started with the swing, these movements are great tools to help you along your way to being able to safely and effectively perform the full kettlebell swing. Each move builds upon the next until you are doing the complete exercise. You'll see me perform each part of the sequence and I'll explain how to do it in detail.
The great thing about this series is that it takes something that might look to be a complicated or intimidating movement and breaks it down into very do-able and safe parts. And if you've never swung a kettlebell before, then this learning sequence is a great workout in and of itself. So, grab a kettlebell and join me! - Jak na to + styl
*By functional I mean you can comfortably swing or carry it **bestgym.equipment** around as one would expect of a kettlebell weight. By versatile I mean the protective coating does not prevent attaching magnetic micro-plates to increase the weight, so, for example, a 35 pound kettlebell can be increased by up to 5 pounds in weight or possibly a bit more by attaching magnetic micro-plates.*
This is one of the best tutorials I've seen for anything fitness related, you should be proud of it!
Couldn't agree more ✊
I agree!
I hate when people just tell to lift heavier and heavier. This was really necessary and technical video i should have watched one year back. Thanks man!
the best kettlebell swing tutorial I found, thank you a lot!
WELL. i am a complete beginner, and this video is exactly what i need and was looking for. may you be blessed for saving many from injury and, through proper instruction, aiding encouragement to folks wanting to improve their strength/health !
Thank you so much. I’m at the end of my third week with a kettlebell and I keep pulling muscles and getting pains in areas I’m not even trying to work out lol. I’ve watched so many tutorials but none of them break down each movement. They just say “like this!” and run through the entire movement at normal speed. Seeing each fundamental movement broken down is invaluable and is sure to save me a lot of aches and pains and injuries later on! 👍
Best instruction I've seen.
This is the absolute best explanation of the mechanics of the swing. Everyone else has "beginner 101" yet they are introducing actual workouts, and completely ignore the mechanics for correctness of movement. Thanks for this.
Yes, yes yes, you nailed it.
I found it fascinating to watch the progression of developing the skills and muscles to perform a good kettlebell swing. This is one of the best how to videos I have ever seen.
Thank you for showing what form is supposed to look like. I appreciate you for not making love to camera being impressed with yourself. I've been doing these wrong and getting back strain, your "chop" explanation helped me with my form
This video is definitely for beginners. I like your simple progressions to the full swing. You are the first person to teach the preparatory movements. I am definitely going to follow your technique and build up to the full kettlebell swing. Thanks for taking the time to teach the kettlebell swing.
Thanks, Krishna! Glad you found us and that the video was so helpful.
This is a great tutorial. I won't even say it's for beginners. It covers the safe, proper most beneficial way to get into the swing for anyone who doesn't want to suffer musculoskeletal injuries.
I finally believe I can master this motion thanks to this tutorial. Beast mode!!
One of the best tutorials on this movement/exercise! Excellent!
I've been trying to learn the proper form for this, and I think this is one of the best CZcams tutorials I've found so far. Great job. But I would have appreciated seeing the full swing in action.
This is one of the better tutorials I’ve seen.
I love training and teaching Kettlebells and I love the movement patterns that you demonstrate this break down is rather fabulous :)
Thank you so much for this video. Instead of simply discussing form and what muscles to engage or saying that we need to keep everything tight to be safe with the KB swing you actually provided an easy to follow tutorial so that I don’t go into this as a beginner and practice without knowing true correct form because even a few poorly formed swings could lead to injury 🙃
This is the most helpful kettlebell swing video, thank you!
Excellent tutorial. Best so far!
Great tutorial, thank you!
Very informative and excellent instruction!
That looks correct and I will follow this advice for my kettlebell swing training..
I was 100% doing it wrong so far
The best video on teaching kettlebell. I just hut myself last week, spine injury. Went too hard, too fast with 20kg kettlebell swings. I wish I would have seen this video ealier. Please be careful everyone.
the best explanation video for beginners. Thanks for your sharing. God bless!
Next explanation I’ve come across.

This is true.

Brandon,Great break down on the smaller movements that when combined create a kettle bell swing. Very informative...what I was looking for to understand better. Thanks!
Awesome, Eric - glad to hear this was helpful!
Hands down the BEST technique video I've seen for the kettlebell swing mechanics. Technique is everything!

Very informative. Thanks.

I love the simple hands-on visual technique
Glad to hear it!
You are such a lovely person, I feel that this exercises are the only ones that are actually helpful to heal my bad lower back posture. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
Glad you found this so helpful, Marian!
Just what I needed darling. TYSM. The breakdown of the pre swing movements is amazing. I wish you had continued into the full swing. Maybe that’s next?
Glad this is useful for you! Regarding the full swing, do you mean more of a CrossFit-style overhead swing? Brandon is RKC/StrongFirst trained, so this swing he demonstrates here isn't much lower than the full Russian-style swing.
Best instructional video ever! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Simply the best breakdown of this great exercise!
You're welcome! And glad you found our video!
Professor por favor enseñeme
great beginner moves. I like that you focus on repetitive
learned movements first. :)
Excellent instructions for teaching kettlebell exercise. Many thanks
You're very welcome!
Fantastic instructional!! Thanks!
You're welcome!

The best explanation

You're welcome!
Great video!
What size is a good kettle to start off with?
As a beginner who got a kettlebell too heavy this definitely helps practicing the movement without hurting myself or muscling it lol, gotta order a 35lbs kettlebell soon
what weight did you get at first? Did you get injured? I started with a 20kg and I think im going to start with a much lighter one.
@@oc3144 20kg is too heavy, unless you are naturally strong or have done weights before
Excellent demonstration and strategy.
Thank you!
super informative, thank you!
You're welcome, Jerry!
Excellent demo. Thank you.
Awesome, thanks for letting us know! Is there anything else you'd like to see from us?
I'm a beginner and appreciate the break out and visual of each movement.
Glad it is helpful! Thanks for watching!
Thank You! Love the detail on this for us beginners!
You're welcome!
Great video, got me started, thanks Brandon!
Awesome! Glad you like it!
This guy is informative and gives a good simple explanation. His video, along with "How to do a kettlebell swing" by Bodyfit by Amy, are the best kettlebell swing videos on the internet.
Wow, thanks Kelley!!
I appreciate this video. I keep hearing how great and easy the kettlebell is for full body toning, but it scares me a little. I don't want to harm my back using it. These movements look like a great way to get acquainted with the kettlebell without injury. When I'm ready to incorporate the kettlebell into my routine I will start with these movements.
Awesome! That's great to hear and exactly why we made this video.
Remember to keep a flat back while doing the swing - Not arched or rounded.
thanx that was good, form is the key I have had kettlebell for years, now I'm serious about using them
Awesome - good for you!
Going through this entire sequence would be excellent as a warmup before getting into your actual swings. I do 5-10 reps of each to get into the groove.
This was a very good video.
Thanks for watching!
I like working out with kettle bells
Excellent demo!
Thanks!
Excellent instruction
Thank you - glad it was helpful!
This is great. Just gonna add, start with a lighter weight until you feel solid in your form. No one ever borked their spine and knees or pulled something in their back by starting too light.
thanks so much for this!!
Thank you that is a really good example 😊👍👍
As a beginner, how do I know what is an ideal weight for me?
I currently only bicep curl 12kg..
I want one for lots of different movements...or do I need more than one for that?
Great demo
nice
This is very helpful. Thanks. 👍
You're welcome!
What a great intro to the swing.
I can't imagine many having the patience to follow your rule, because, well, we all know how patient people are these days lol.
Seems to form a pretty solid foundation for the full swing though.
Thanks, we think it's a great place to start too! Good technique is always the best foundation.
Коасавчик 💚👍
What kettlebell weight is used in the video?
What an amazing tutorial video! Many thanks! I am keen on starting the kettlebell swings. I have read that an athletic man should start with 16kg, is it ok?
Good work! :D Finally a nice swing video...! :)
Thanks!
What is the starting weight I can use? I have 20lbs and I find it heavy?
Exactly what I need, I have been told I can do this safely with my diastasis recti, do you agree? Excellent.
Hi Jackie - thanks for watching our videos! I do know women with DR who do kettlebell workouts, but to be safe, you should check with your doctor first.
Wow, This is very great vdo. I have question sir. My arms kind of short and I need to lower my knees and push my butt back more is this a good form ?
As long as you are generating the power from your glute and keeping your core tight and back straight, you are probably doing all right. That said, your best bet would be to have a trainer check you out, even if it's just for one lesson.
Is the kB swing safe for diastasis recti?
Thanks
how much kg kettlebell?
I keep hearing about how beneficial the kettlebell swing is for other applications. If you know of those applications would you please explain how & in what ways this exercise is so beneficial? Thanks.
Hi there - Anything that needs core strength and posterior train strength will be benefited by training the kettlebell swing. So, that's a LOT of activities and movements. It also trains coordination and balance.
great
I wish I could put this on repeat on a screen at my gym; so much bad form out there (which is probably why I never see the same people doing swings more than once or twice).
Thanks for this!
What's the most optimal foot position/distance?
Very similar to a squat. Just outside your hips
What weight plz? And at @ is there need of weightlifting belt?
The weight will vary for each person depending on strength and skill level. No need for a weight belt ever on this movement.
which weight do you recommend for an average build 35 year old guy
Hi Oscar -- It's always best to start lighter and get your form right to begin with. So start as light as 12kg or 16kg and work up from there when you feel confident in your technique.
that swing was so low

This exercise is really dangerous. I did my back in.
Dont swing kb below the knee level ... u will enjoy doing it
interesting points ,if anyone else needs to find out about best kettlebell exercises try Renkarter Bell Fitness Report (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate got cool results with it.
i gotta say i hate the example these guys set when they do it without any runners o n their feet. you only hv to drop it once to break a toe...runners will offer a little protection
There are different schools of thought on whether to wear shoes while training with kettlebells. The proprioception you gain by going barefoot is tremendous, and really, shoes will do little to nothing when it comes to a weight landing on your foot .They may protect you from getting cut, but that's about it. That said, we think people should train the way they are comfortable, shoes or not.
