i was having leg pain so i went to have an x ray. i think i have to get one for my leg, because the doctor said she see anything on the x ray and recommended that if the pain persists i should see an ortho knee provider or get a ct scan
The table movment its important to know if we do a ct for head or leg a movment of table we should know if table entring inside gountru or outside gountry with my regard
+Rob Jones You may be thinking of an IVP. They used to do those. Thats where they start an iv that puts a dye in you and then a normal x ray is taken. Had those years ago for my stones. Still no big desl at all.
We should deffrenation between head to feet or feet to head and the laser beam the secound leaser beam are important when we do feet to head buz its a land mark for me not like some ppl says its not important its too important when we convert from feet to head
*20 years later*. "Turns out all those CT scans and mammograms we were giving patients gave them cancer. Oh well. At least we got money from them via chemo and radiation treatments that caused rebound cancers after the cancer was caused by our machines."
from my general understanding, barium is used in GI studies whereas iodine is used for most others. Radiation doses are dependent on the area being scanned, but usually significantly higher than x-rays. Still not enough to cause any problems for the body purely from the scan though.
I have CT scan appointment for my knee.. next week. My friend told me we have to remove any clothing covering the knee area bcos she had her CT scan for knee few Months ago.
I was supposed to have a MRI on Wednesday could this be a replacement for it or no? It’s supposed to be a Brain MRI also it’s been a long time since I’ve had either one. Thank goodness i won’t have to have a MRI on Wednesday.
For future reference for anyone else wondering the same, I was told that an MRI is more in-depth than a CT scan, so if an MRI is prescribed, I would try to stick with it. If you're claustrophobic, there are things you can do to help, such as: 1. Asking your doctor to prescribe something to calm you down during the procedure 2. Discussing with your doctor your claustrophobia to see about attending a facility that has an open MRI (they aren't as "closed off" :)) 3. Covering your eyes while in the MRI machine. I've had to get several MRIs in my life and am severely claustrophobic. They always provide me with either an eye mask or a simple washcloth to place over my eyes during the scan 4. Listen to music! You can't bring your own headphones, but more and more facilities now offered the ability to listen to music while getting the scan done. For me, I always listen to Lofi and it really helps to pass the time. It also lets me get a good indication of how much time has passed IE one Lofi song is about 2 minutes. This way, I can tell myself things like "only four more songs to go before I'm finished" Hope this helps!
That's right MRI (corrected) It's just a powerful magnetic field passing through your body. Nothing to worry. Radiography (X Ray) instead is dangerous if repeated often. CT does involve radiation and shouldn't be repeated too often.
I have a question regarding when a CT scan is performed. Is it necessary for the gantry to rotate around the body to get the images required. or can your body be scanned by just having the body be moved back and forth into the machine while holding your breath .Also is there a light that comes on.
your vomiting may have been a side affect of the injection.. but its true the radiation can affect different people in a variety of ways for instance I often get headaches after a chest xray but im usually ok after a ct scan
emergency.cdc.gov/radiation/arsphysicianfactsheet.asp Please read that. It takes a much higher dose to cause immediate radiation sickness, because the first stage is erythema. Once a patient enters NVD (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), they are not likely to survive (this is due to dosage, unlike radiation sickness in regards to cancer treatments eg radiation therapy). -RT(R)
Yeah I had one done too and for two days I couldn't get out of the bed made me real sick you're exposed to a hundred times what a normal x-ray is and the other day my doctor suggested maybe an MRI well MRIs have magnets you know what else has magnets on microwave no thank you
@@MrMikeyx007 The amount of radiation you get depends on what you are scanning. I had two CT scans today, one of my adrenal glands without radiocontrast and one of my entire torso with radiocontrast. I have felt nothing today except the urge to pee when I had the contrast injected. Torso scans are the scans that absorb the most radiation of all CT scans. Magnets aren't dangerous to us like x-rays are (MRI vs. CT). It doesn't damage DNA like x-rays. The reasoning that microwaves have magnets, therefore they are dangerous doesn't make sense. Microwaves also use actual microwaves (which aren't something that MRIs use).
I had to undergo a CT scan over a week ago when my primary care physician suspected I had appendicitis. Thank heavens I didn't have it.

Had an abdomen scan for my kidney stones. Piece of cake.Slide in, slide out. 2 minutes your done. NOTHING to be scared of.
+Robert Clark Did they give you the shot, make you drink something or what?
+Rob Jones Didnt do nuttin. Layed me on the table thingy. Slid me in said hold breath took scan and slid out. 2 minutes tops.
+Robert Clark Thank you. That makes me feel much better.

+Rob Jones If I remember correctly the day before an ivp you will drink a bottle of stuff to clean you out. Makes you shit like a blue goose.
Just had one for scanning for cancer. Had to do a protein diet the day before NO SUGAR!
it is very important for health human
I need to have a ct scan for my ear
Good Job
Colon or large intestine ulcers can be seen in ct scan?
can they see your colon? is this instead of a colonoscopy?
I need to have a ct scan for abdominal pain. But I'm really petrified. Does the machine slide totally in or just up to your shoulder

Thanks your video today I understand how taken image of ct scan by the patient so thanks your video
This system is far better for claustrophobic patients than an MRI. I can handle this with no problem.

My 12 year old BFF was having severe headaches and passed out at school eventually she had to get a CAT Scan
Is she ok
Thank you. I feel more at ease now, knowing what to expect :)

What is contained in the contrast material? Barium or iodine?
How much radiation is a patient exposed to during the procedure?

@@juno2859 The radiation may be a problem got those who need multiple scans. Ionized radiation is harmful to DNA.

I had a CT scan not too long ago, they don't make you change your clothing.

Not me Too Closed In.....No F. .Way...
Not as bad as I imagined. Like going in and out of the middle of a donut. Not as claustrophobic as I had feared.

Should really include side effects in these kinds of videos, sometimes you can get radiation sickness and puke for hours like I did after my CT scan

I never got an injection. There wasn't any contrast fluid in my system at all, they did the scan without it
