If Ken wrote Bioshock's recording logs you pick up, and the story, you are a GENIUS! Those logs are the best written and voice acted scripts I've ever had the pleasure of reading! Soooo great!
It's cool Ken is still doing his thing, but it's a shame someone as creative and unique as him can't exist in the AAA space anymore.
Shut up and go pick up Bojack's stuff !
Isn't he "in the AAA space" though? His company is a subsidiary of Take Two.
He chose to leave AAA and do something experimental.
100
He chose to leave AAA gaming... he wants to do a smaller game that has less commercial expectations and more to do with meeting academic, hardcore audience expectations.
I wish Ken Levine the best with Ghost Story & am definitely looking forward to seeing his next project, but I gotta say, He set the bar waaaaaay to high with BioShock 1 and Infinite. Doubt he will ever see this, but THANK YOU for creating what is hands down the best video game I have/probably will ever play.
SeriouslySatan
I feel the exact same way about bioshock ha
Shoot for the moon---if you miss, you'll be hurtling through the infinite nothingness of space...as a legend!
System Shock 2 would like to speak with you all.
I liked the scenery and story of infinite but the gameplay was the same as Bioshock 1.
The man is a genius
He is, he said recently that his new game is almost finished
@@elmaxo1591 o really
When he talked about radical recognition, I remembered how he kinda did something similar in Bioshock 1.
In Fort Frolic, when you jumped from a balcony to another balcony with a gene tonic, Sander Cohen says, "What an outstanding display of athleticism." Lol
EGX was amazing this year. Thank you so much for inviting these wonderful people to talk to us.
KWichaya loved my first EGX. Will definitely go to more.
I'm glad he is excited about the fact that the new game doesn't have to be easy and linear and tell you what to do. You the player have to figure that out. Miss games like that.
Such a down to earth and great guy. I always love listening to Ken Levine. Can't wait for what he brings us next.
Dark Camelot, the game where you play Mordred, sounds like it would have been awesome.
A plot worth revisiting someday, Ken!
glad to see my guest appearance filmed :-)
This was a really excellent interview.
Ken really knows his stuff, and I love that he's reveling in a more niche game now. It'll be really interesting to see what it is.
Some great advice throughout all the answers and thoughts on the topics that came up.
such a cool guy I hope he is still making games
Was here Friday,so sick I missed this Thursday, big fan!
"seasoned in breaking people's heart" loooool

An inspiring talk, in a general sense
Wait.. there was a time before audio was a thing? 21:00

its isnt that bad . its Just You Who dont like it
it isnt that bad . its Just You and some others Who dont like the bioshock games
@@kennycornelis9868 mate he's talking about getting a good bioshock Without Ken is difficult.
Bioshocks story is told, the book is closed. But thats not a bad thing! When Systemshocks book was closed, we got bioshock. Time for new adventures!
We won't but arkane did make prey. If I named it it'd be psychoshock
36:36 Didn't you ever made SWAT 4?
Then Hollywood wanted him back, and some of the biggest names wanted to direct a Bioshock movie; Universal bought the rights to the Bioshock movie, and now Sony Pictures has plans for it. Ken, you showed them, and you showed me not to give up because of one failure
Rueful Rue Sony has plans to make a bioshock movie??? Would you kindly tell me more about this?
I love more detailed and specific controlled environments, rather than empty open worms
Ken Levine is to game design as Trent Rezener is to music.
Also I think Chris Crawford's dragon is doom..
The Legend
Where is it?
Does anybody know what's the movie he made?
I believe Ken Levine was writing an 'interactive Twilight Zone Movie' but I don't believe he is anymore, and he instead decided to focus his attention on his studios game.
@@hopehepperlin2519 what game
@@SideEffectsmusic I think Bioshock go check it out it's astonishment game it's so atmospheric and heart-wrenching
Better Red Than Undead is a great tittle
24:40 Is that Yahtzee asking a question?
That looks and sounds nothing like yahtzee
Why change the name? 2K wouldn't let you guys keep it? What would 2K do with the name?
I wonder if he'd be a cool colleague
Don't you work with him? Assuming this from replies to other people.
I heard things have gotten tense between and the people he worked with but overall I think he’s a genius in the gaming industry
Noted😂😂😂😂
he sure likes talking about relationships
37:31 SIMP!
36:18 the cringiness (he's my collage)
kiera The Femscout | Do you mean 'Colleague'?
yes, I meant that XP
Really now? I don't remember seeing your likes on our team. what line of development are you in? Surely not anything to do with spelling. I'm in story and art development.
Art development, I do this in college. spelling, i'm still learning lol
haha I knew you were in the midst of pranking me, hat's off to you for trying though. And I wish you luck on your road to joining the game development community (:
Bro can't say pinball machine lol?
This audience are corpses man
Man washed up hard with Infinite. Easily the worst """Bioshock""" game of the series.
Cover-based shooter with de-emphasized power usage.
May he either never touch another game again, or go back to Bioshock 1.
@NoseKey They had to force the connection to the previous games in the DLC. The moment-to-moment story in the game was almost non-existent. The only real story that was given was the slow reveal that Mother Comstock wasn't actually Elizabeth's mother and how Father Comstock tried to kill Luttece, inadvertantly making them into Mr/Ms Manhattan, followed by the abrupt reveal and conclusion.
Bioshock 1 had (in order) Atlas' family up to Arcadia, Jack's origin in Hephaestus Core, Tenenbuam and Yi Suchong in Olympus Heights, and the Big Daddy creation after. Conclusion.
Bioshock 2 had each of the four "boss" characters, the shift of power from Ryan to Sofia Lamb, the father who waded through the Hell of Rapture to find his kidnapped daughter, Delta+Eleanor. Conclusion.
Infinite was the least lore-filled that didn't even have the same gameplay as a Bioshock game. If it wasn't for the "Bioshock" on the cover, I'd say it was a decent game for a new IP, but it's a trash Bioshock game that forcefully retcons the previous games. Didn't "wrap-up" anything that it itself didn't open. Just a cash-in production.
Yeah damon22441 your games are way better than Levine’s, you should show him how to make games.
