Twenty years later I can watch this with awe. Bure was always one of the most enjoyable players to watch for me - not so much scoring on Finland, though.
Remember listening to this on the radio during a car ride. Sth that I'll always remember from this game... Bure on yet another breakaway. 🥴 The speed... 🙌🏻👏🏻
kyllä suomi ainakin taisteli urheasti, niinä aikoina bure oli vaan toisesta planeetasta. mutta sitten kun joutuivat pelaa parasta maalivahtia vastaan niin meni hiljaseks
Of course Bure was good, but man, finnish goalie sucked hard. Very big difference if you compare him to Hasek for example. Today all top goalies are pretty much eaqual.
Myllys and Sulander were at that time the top finnish goalies and pretty much the only guys to put on in this kind of tournament. Finnish goaltending situation at that time was a clear weakness in the team. Myllys was a pretty decent from the early to mid 90's, but had by 98 been past of his best. He was never very good in breakaways. Though Bure at that time made any goalie look like they sucked.
@@user-co1gi7yd2r Kiprusoff was not yet that good. In 98 he was just a promising young goalie. Kipper era was in 2004-2012. Pasi Nurminen was another really good goalie in the early millenium, but he was unfortunately injured during the 05 training camp and had to retire at the age of 30.
Bure was pure lightning on ice. I got to see him play in 1993, unbelievable speed. Like he was from another planet.

On breakaways his hands at that speed is quite unfair for goalies
gotta love him even though im a finn
Simply the best display of skating ever in the history of the skate
Pavel Bure, unbelievable speed and so good. If he hadnt got problems with hes knees he would have dominated Nhl for a long time.

I rember this well 😂
As a Finn, it was a nightmare to watch this. Never forget.
Pavel Bure sure is a name i'm never going to forget. What a player.
I love the hockey from Japan that winter. More exciting than anything else
Simple best!
Russian Rocket!
What a scorer, speed, hands, iq, aristism!
Disaster game for Myllys
muistan ku oltiin mökillä ja kuunneltiin tätä radiosta....
