- After almost a year, I finally finished it, I've practically lost like all of the files when my laptop died and almost had no motivation to do it all over again but I did and it feels so worth it.
This was originally supposed to be just an impulsive decision to make a long animatic, but it turned into this big practice on drawing characters, backgrounds and perspectives so sorry that there may be a lot of artstyle changes. Still need more practice but this was really fun to make, I hope you like it!

I like to think Luanne was probably offered peace in Heaven but she looked God directly in the eyes and said "thanks for the offer but send me back down there so I can haunt the Hell out of that bastard"

Huh. I always read the whole "dog's got out" bit as "Oh, whoops, there goes the dog, let me chase after him for you!", the other interpretation didn't occur to me til now lol.
Tis le point, she's got an excuse to run off without his say-so. Hence "OH! THE DOG'S RUN OFF, LEMME JUST GO GET THAT FOR YOU." cue the running as far as she can while hoping the dog is doing the same.

I really like the how unique this is! From the dog to the way her husband clearly DROWNED her! It makes sense she was drowned because that was his cover story, so she couldn't have too many suspicious cuts and bruises she, very obviously, wouldn't have gotten from the trip to the bank.
Honestly, the smirk in the end scene always gives me satisfaction. He got what was coming for him and the fact that she was the one to deliver this justice is just so damn good.
Gorgeous art style and I'm especially enamoured by the way you draw mouths. So expressive and yet so simple. And her eyes! So hopeful and yet so pained.

@@meatymaggot Honestly once she left him alive I was pretty sure she would die... (I'm a DV survivor and the only reason I'm a "survivor" is that my personal b*stard didn't have a gun or a truck). Still broke my heart in half with the little "and stricken stare..." bit, like I wanted her to escape so bad 😭

Gonna be honest I never understood why or how he got to the bank faster until you showed his truck and I've listened to this song about 5 times before seeing this animatic

Oh my God!!! I love this video. I love the expression on Luanne’s face in every scene, and I love the motion when she gets away. It's just so good. What happened to Luanne is terrible and sad, of course, but the way you made it it’s just so incredible. Never stop creating!!!

i love every aspect of this animatic. from the panicked look when the plates and cups were shaking(a sign that he has probably beat her over dropping things,) to her dragging him to hell and her being finally free. its amazing
I think this is a very well done animation and this should get a bunch more views than it has currently very well done

I've listened to this song several times and I've watched dozen of cinematics. However, your video manage to capture that pinnacle point of the song: Luanne finding hope when she ran away. I just love,love how you put those dynamic movements and change of scenery. It really feels that she is no longer locked in her house but exploring the world in her own terms. It made me happy for her. And it also gave me a sense of hope. And then came 4:22 and I remembered we still have five minutes left in the song. Man, with this quality, this video deserves more views than what is given.
I like how her husband throws the picture frame of him and her like that’s gonna do anything.
And down to hell they both go
She’s coming to beat the sht out of him so he would suffer like she did, until she decides to rest her own soul in heaven.

I honestly think this one fits the end of the song better than some of the other videos, and the style is amazing, the only thing I wish is that it was a full animation.
WOW that was powerful!! Impactful and purposeful animation and character movement flawlessly matched to a harrowing story and song!! The ending is extraordinarily satisfying. The chains shooting after the bastard... Amazing.

I love the song and your animatic is absolutely fantastic, the motions are fluid and the way you represent the story of the song is great, though I wonder about the lyrics. If he was sleeping like a log, why did she let the dog loose and awakened him? Couldn't she just sneak off and THEN bolt? She would have more time to run before he awakened and noticed her absence.
I'm probably overthinking a lot but this little detail just kinda bugs me.
The song literally says she has heart were she should've had brains, so I'm guessing she might not have thought her plan all the way through. Either that or the house is one of those old Southern homes that creak and groan with every step you take*, so he would've woken just from her opening the door, in which case she needed a distraction to keep him occupied while she made a break from it.
*Written by someone who grew up in such a house; everything from the doors to the windows to the floorboards made sound. You get used to it, but you also get attuned to when certain sounds happen. A front or back door's hinges squeaking open in the dead of night definitely makes you jump up from your bed and arm yourself against intruders.
It could be a possibility that he treats the dog the same and freeing him was also a goal but if she did it and left a couple days later then he would act worse to her and if she left and came back for the dog it could be worse for the dog. "the basterd" doesn't seem like he would treat his dog better then his wife

My biggest question is if she knew that he would chase her with the car, why didn't she take it or least stab them with the knife before bolting? Even with the excuse of the dog, that would last a hour max. With a car she'd be caught anyway.

She wasn’t thinking clearly, prioritizing getting out of the house over covering all bases. She was running purely on fear, determination and the desperation to live.
