Way to hang tough and get the job done on a great bull. I got lucky and drew a Nevada archery elk tag in 2021. I also spent the entire hunt chasing desert bulls and tagged out on the last day . Unreal experience full of ups and downs that undoubtedly you can relate to!

Just nerves, pretty much every animal does this when they die. We just aren't typically that close to see it
@@Rokslide yeah, I’ve taken hundreds of animals of all shapes n sizes. Seen plenty move after death. It’s the chemicals stored in the nerve endings that cause them to continue to fire. It was just the way his head got propped up in the bushes that made him appear to still have muscle tone. Btw. I’m lowpressure on rokslide. I’ll be starting to film all of my solo hunts from here on out. I’ve been practicing the editing and the learning curve is steep.

Great Video! Only recommendation I can make is to lower the volume on the music. I have to turn it up to hear Tony, but then the music blasts loud and I have to turn it back down.

What sticks out to you most about a desert elk hunt vs mountain hunts you’ve done?
You can spot and stalk much easier
What was the determination of the injury?
Hard to say what happened to his hoof but whatever it was, it was from long ago. It was completely healed over with a thick leathery callus. I assumed it was the reason he was so skinny but I could be wrong.
What the general location of this hunt?
Was it me or did you not see his ears twitching when he first looked at it? It wasn’t dead

Joel, He was dead as a door nail. Those are nerves that twitch after death. If you have ever lived/worked on a farm, you would see this every time something is butchered. We don't typically see it this close when we are hunting.
