- Could be the only one with one owner, sub 5k miles. Not been on the road for over 10 years and was unmolested before that. is this the Holy Grail of Deauvilles? I bought a 2004 650 Deauville that had been parked in a garrage for 12 years , i had to have the carbs ultrasonicaly cleaned before it would run.With a new Mot it cost £170. Over the next year it needed 2 new michelins, a new fuel pump, new fork seals. But a superb bike 70 mpg 75-85mph cruseing, top speed aprox 105 ish. Very good quality nice bike!!!

Best cheap way of cleaning a rusty tank is harpic power plus 10x black one £2 or less per bottle ( look at the ingredients look for the one with the higher concentration of hydrochloric acid you need the 9g one not 5g), fill it with a full bottle of that and warm water, then just leave or if its really bad add some nuts and shake about after an hour or two of sitting. it will have been the water the e10 fuel attracts when left sat. no need to coat the inside just fill with fuel, or add a small amount of light oil and shake about to coat the inside until you need to add fuel.

Saturday (20th) my new to me BMW R45 arrived, it will be 40 years registered on the 8th August. Has all it's MOT's to back up its mileage of 4500. Put 100 miles on it on Sunday, though not at any speed as the front brake is terrible! New pads and braided lines ordered. Good luck with your purchase, get some miles on it!

Pity the tank wasn't stored full as it wouldn't have rusted anywhere near as badly. If you want a non acidic way of de-rusting the tank you can use black treacle diluted with water. It takes ages, is really cheap and works really well, but it's very slow. If you want to speed it it up, you can buy commercial versions like Evaporust or Nitromors Non Hazardous. The great thing about the non acidic rust removers is they don't attack the base metal, they just remove the rust. Really good for thin sheet steel parts like petrol tanks.

I sold my 2003 Deauville 650 about 8 weeks ago, looked everywhere for a 700, but couldn't find the right bike, so i ended up buying a 2015 NC 750 S, had i waited 2 weeks i would have made a bid on you're 700, just could not wait. someone will snap it up. thanks for sharing.
