Alot of pdr guys use long bars and push out the dents too. You could try going through filler cap if you've got an adequate bent rod

Jay, gotta say you’ve done a bang-up job there. Out of curiosity what was the mileage on the bike when you got it ? Was it stored outside too. There’s a lot of crud inside the bike so I’m guessing it’s done a lot of wet mileage in the UK. This series you’ve published has taught me a lot too!

ST1300 2003 had black wheels. I used to comment to my buddy who had one. My 2004 ahas silver wheels.

For hoses I find it useful to get some grease pencils (Yellow, red and blue) and label as you go. Start off with 1A, 1B, etc and then move to the 2’s, 3’s etc as you go. Helps. Taking photos also since you can document this easily in the future. Nice work.

I passed my A license on an old ER6N and what a pile of cr- I bought a Yam FZ8 shortly after and what a bike, I went to a Fireblade then Busa and all incredible, I've been tempted by a Z1000 but never truly liked the Kawa styling or the green.

It's an ER-6N, the N = Naked and F = Faired, I had a 2006 ER-6F and it's a reliable workhorse, wonderful to ride, I'd swap my VFR800 Gen 5 for one any day.

I used nuts and bolts in my VFR750 tank and then Evaporust followed by a tank sealing compound. Never had a problem after that. The Deauvilles are great bikes, I had the 650 for a couple of years and aside from maintenance I never had to do anything to it. 95 mph and 70 mpg, and a nice light bike with good weather protection.

I bought a 2004 650 Deauville that had been parked in a garrage for 12 years , i had to have the carbs ultrasonicaly cleaned before it would run.With a new Mot it cost £170. Over the next year it needed 2 new michelins, a new fuel pump, new fork seals. But a superb bike 70 mpg 75-85mph cruseing, top speed aprox 105 ish. Very good quality nice bike!!!

Saturday (20th) my new to me BMW R45 arrived, it will be 40 years registered on the 8th August. Has all it's MOT's to back up its mileage of 4500. Put 100 miles on it on Sunday, though not at any speed as the front brake is terrible! New pads and braided lines ordered. Good luck with your purchase, get some miles on it!

Best cheap way of cleaning a rusty tank is harpic power plus 10x black one £2 or less per bottle ( look at the ingredients look for the one with the higher concentration of hydrochloric acid you need the 9g one not 5g), fill it with a full bottle of that and warm water, then just leave or if its really bad add some nuts and shake about after an hour or two of sitting. it will have been the water the e10 fuel attracts when left sat. no need to coat the inside just fill with fuel, or add a small amount of light oil and shake about to coat the inside until you need to add fuel.

Pity the tank wasn't stored full as it wouldn't have rusted anywhere near as badly. If you want a non acidic way of de-rusting the tank you can use black treacle diluted with water. It takes ages, is really cheap and works really well, but it's very slow. If you want to speed it it up, you can buy commercial versions like Evaporust or Nitromors Non Hazardous. The great thing about the non acidic rust removers is they don't attack the base metal, they just remove the rust. Really good for thin sheet steel parts like petrol tanks.

I sold my 2003 Deauville 650 about 8 weeks ago, looked everywhere for a 700, but couldn't find the right bike, so i ended up buying a 2015 NC 750 S, had i waited 2 weeks i would have made a bid on you're 700, just could not wait. someone will snap it up. thanks for sharing.

Hi Jay, I watch a lot of the Mecum and Barret Jackson auctions from the states, and you are definitely right about the cars that we, of a certain vintage, think of classics not reaching the prices they once did. Conversely, the 90's car prices are going through the roof. I think it is probably the older generation passing away and the next generations focusing on what they are nostalgic for.

Scorpio 2.0 was DOHC not Pinto and the Jag 4.2 is 100% a 6 banger V8 my arse! Learn your subject matter...

Still not much wrong with it overall I just did my clutch, abs removal, tires , cam chain tensioner, fuel filter and a bit more on my 2003 1150 RT. Its just maintenance. still tons of miles on it yet.
